Jericho "J.T." Tucker wants nothing to do with Coventry, Texas's new dressmaker. He's all too familiar with her kind--shallow women
more devoted to fashion than true beauty. Yet, except for her well-tailored clothing, this seamstress is not at all what he expected.
Hannah Richards is confounded by the man who runs the livery. The unsmiling fellow riles her with his arrogant assumptions and gruff
manner while at the same time stirring her heart with unexpected acts of kindness. Which side of Jericho Tucker reflects the real man?
When Hannah decides to help Jericho's sister catch a beau--leading to uproarious consequences for the whole town--will Jericho and Hannah find a way to bridge the gap between them?

Title: Satisfying and Heartwarming
Review: In the spring of 1881, an unexpected bequest gives Hannah Richards the chance of a lifetime - her own dress-making shop in the small town of Coventry, Texas. It's an opportunity she means to seize with both her hands and her heart. A woman trying to make her own way in the world has to be bold and independent and she has to put her faith in God. Hannah believes He wants her to add beauty to the world and to help others wherever and whenever she sees the chance to do so and that's exactly what she plans to do.Jericho 'J.T.' Tucker has been trying to buy the shop cross the street from his livery for months. It's not that he wants to abandon his thriving business, he'd just like the chance to give the widow James a helping hand. The building she rents for her laundry is falling down around her and J.T. figured he could buy the empty building and rent the space to her at a reasonable rate so she wouldn't feel as if she were accepting charity. Instead, some pretty young thing has arrived from San Antonio to set up in a dress-maker's shop in the empty storefront.J.T. knows all about pretty women. They're self-centered, spoiled and manipulative. And she's a dress-maker to boot! Frippery and finery such as Miss Richards makes does nothing but encourage vanity and breed discontent in women. And even if Miss Hannah Richards isn't at all what he expected - she's modest and kind and charitable - J.T. can't seem to let go of his suspicions and prejudices. For her part, Hannah is downright baffled by Mr. Jericho Tucker. He's gruff - often to the point of rudeness - and he appears to have taken a strong dislike to her and everything she stands for. Yet Hannah can't deny that he has gone out of his way to help her out on more than one occasion and while his words are too often harsh, his actions have always been kind. Both J.T. and Hannah will have to re-examine their hearts and their beliefs as they grow to know each other better. Perhaps neither one of them is completely right about the other and it's just possible that the Lord has a place and a purpose in the world for each of them. A little matchmaking, a terrifying rainstorm and a malicious man intent on driving Hannah from town will all push J.T. and Hannah to see the strength and kindness they each possess.Christian fiction isn't my normal genre when I'm choosing reading material. Too often, the religious aspect is blatantly and unrealistically tacked on or wielded with all the subtlety of a hammer - doing a disservice to both faith and fiction. This novel, however, was a different kettle of fish altogether. Ms. Witemeyer has crafted a rich, heartwarming historical romance where faith and Christianity are an integral and honest part of the characters' everyday lives - which, of course, they were for most Americans in the late 19th century. I enjoyed this novel from beginning to end. The writing was smooth, the characters had spark and depth and the romance was both realistic and truly satisfying. I've already purchased another book by Ms. Witemeyer and I cannot wait to start reading it.

Title: "Tailor-Made" for the romantic Christian heart!!
Review: I DID NOT WANT THIS BOOK TO END!! From cover to cover, Karen Witemeyer just blew me away! She has the "character depth" of Tamera Alexander and the "romantic charm" of Deeanne Gist, combined with a beautiful, refreshing style all her own! This is Karen's first novel, and that fact alone will leave you even more wide eyed and slack jawed at her abilities. Most importantly, you will also find the Lord's "thumbprint" on every page. Her words ministered to my spirit in such a deep, penetrating way. Opening my own eyes to appreciate more greatly and see more clearly the beauty of God all around me. This book is "Tailor-Made" for the romantic Christian heart! Her characters live and breathe, not only within the pages but long after the cover is closed. The heroine, Hannah Richards, is the kind of a girl we would all strive to be like. Not only is she beautiful, graceful and talented but she also possess a kind, gentle, yet passionate nature and shines the love of Christ so effortlessly, desiring His will above her own, no matter the sacrifice. The hero, Jericho "J.T." Tucker, is exactly how the author describes him, "a little crusty on the outside, but his heart is true and as big as a mountain." From the start he just took my breath away (however, I did want to smack him a couple of times). He is ruggedly handsome, strong and determined, but set in his ways with no plans on changing. That is until the scales fall from his eyes AND his heart, allowing him to behold the inner and outer beauty of a certain dressmaker. We (along with Hannah) fall head-over-heels with this man and his mountain size heart! We find that he is humble, a little vulnerable, and capable of great kindness, loving with his actions rather than words. With each page we witness a refining process happening in our hero and... gosh, I've said too much already. You'll have to read it yourself *grin*Her supporting characters are great as well, adding even more life, color, and depth to the story, as does her charming Texas setting. And as a side note, she ends her chapters with some of the best closing lines you'll ever read that will have you saying, "Okay, just one more chapter." into the wee hours of the night! Simply put, this book is going on my "to be read again AND again" shelf, with NO chance of collecting even a speck of dust any time soon!!
