FEATURES

Main idea behind Jinglong minicake is the convenience and the use of traditional package.

TYPE OF TEA

Ripe Pu erh Tea (普洱熟茶, cooked pu-erh) – a type of pu-erh tea produced in designated areas of Yunnan Province from sun-dried big-leaf loose green tea using technology of wet-pile post-fermentation. It was aged at least for 1 year before pressing.

LEAF TYPE AND ORIGIN

For the convenience of pressing and brewing we used broken loose leaf tea originated from Xishuangbanna, Lincang prefectures of Yunnan prov., China.

ABOUT JINGLONG TEA FACTORY

New brand created by western tea entrepreneurs in cooperation with Yiwu Jinglong Laoshu Cha Chang. We source tea leaf directly from reputable farmers and control every part of production chain in order to provide customers with a wide range of affordable high quality natural loose leaf and pressed teas.

BREWING

Minicake can be brewed in any way you like. We advice to start with tea-water ratio about 1:100, water temperature – just of the boil, total brewing time 3-4 min.

We found it to be most suitable for following brewing methods:

Teapot with sifterFrench pressPour overClever Dripper.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Ripe pu-erh wet-pile fermentation process takes up to 60 days and involves microorganisms, so ripe pu-erh taste profile differs from taste of other types of teas. A bit earthy taste is a part of pu-erh taste profile.

Please remember that short-time (10-20 sec) warming up (or rinsing) stage is needed while brewing pressed tea. We would also recommend to crush mini cake evenly for better rinsing and faster brewing process.

Ripe pu-erh tea should be brewed with water just boiled (208-212°F).

ripe pu-erh tea processripe pu-erh tea process

All starts from the natural green leaf of Camellia sinensis var. assamica sourced from tea plantations of Menghai county (Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, China).

The leaf is plucked, fixed, rolled and sun-dried. Thus we receive a semi-product called shaiqing maocha 晒青毛茶.

After that maocha goes to our production facility for wet-pile post-fermentation (this process looks like composting). After post-fermentation lose leaf tea (now it's called ripe or shu / shou 熟 pu-erh) is screened, graded and pressed into different shapes.

You can find some examples of our pu-erh tea shapes bellow.

Title: Delicious, high quality!
Review: This tea is delicious, and the quality is high.I recommend enjoying it with hot water and not eating it like an oreo. This gave me ideas of color, aroma, and value for money.

Title: All-around Fantastic
Review: Have been diving into finer teas lately and this one is an absolute pleasure to drink. The packaging/presentation of the tea cakes is very unique and gives a great feel to the presentation. Personally I use half a disk which I brew a handful of times over the course of my tea time (after pouring out the first preparatory brew). Third is the best in my opinion and fifth is a great soft finish; the flavor is amazingly deep but smooth with a beautiful deep brown/rose coloring and great clean energy. Highly recommend and will purchase again, thank you so much 🙏

Title: Worth it
Review: I bought this to get into pu erh tea, being a black tea fan I figured I'd start with this one. This stuff is unlike anything I've had in america. Very woodsy, earthy scent, very very smooth, absolutely no bitterness whatsoever, despite the tea being so dark. Definitely worth a try, I'm certain there's better ripe puerhs available but this was good for price. I with held one star because the leaf is actually broken, as opposed to the whole leaf of other brands. If you're on the fence, do it, its delicous, the price is good and it lasts a while. Also, consider looking into the gongfu style of brewing, it makes better tea. Hope this helps

Title: Pretty Tasty, but Very Mild
Review: Very nice packaging, comes with its own resealable bag and the presentation looks very giftable. It is a bit "mild" (very rich, but lacks that distinct fermented taste) compared to the other Puer I've had, but definitely not bad and might be good for people who don't want to jump in head first to anything stronger. I enjoyed it, and I'd recommend it. JUST AS A WARNING: Be sure to rinse it off before brewing, as the taste of the paper and leaf wrapping will come through if you don't.

Title: Nice tea
Review: I was happy with this purchase, I purchased it from my book club, and it made for a very nice presentation. The tea was nice, with a smooth flavor, I enjoyed it. The only downside is as far as I can tell, there’s no way to identify exactly which tea leaves are in it.

Title: If this is what tea in China tastes like...
Review: I purchased this tea based on comments that this tea is closest to what tea in country tastes like. OMG! I nearly hurled. It tastes tea made of Nori. GAH! I had everyone in the house taste it and everyone said it tastes like seaweed. GROSS! BLECHT!

Title: Strong Fermented Tea with unexpected funky flavors
Review: Jinlong Tea Factory Puer in bambooPresentation is neat - the cakes are easy to measure, each is about 10g, and able to be broken in half for 5g chunks. The leaves are pretty shredded, so it doesn't matter if you break it down the middle. The price is good.I've come back to this tea six or more times over the past half year-> here are notes from the most recent session.Ratio: 1g tea to 15ml of water Brewing method: don't use gaiwan because of small size of tea particles - a pot is best. Water: 200-205 F Rinse: 15-20 seconds, until bubbles stop. This tea is pretty tightly packed.First Brew: 7 seconds - burnt wood, wet hay, cedar, loam, full-bodied mouthfeel, lingering aftertaste of charred cedar. Color is a very strong dark red.Second Brew: 8 seconds - More of the same, less charcoal/burntThird Brew: 10 seconds - clear tobacco smell, hints of caramel, burnt sugar, cedar still present, a bit of seaweed, metallic copper flavor on the finishFourth Brew: 12 seconds - continued smell of burnt brown sugar and cedar (nutmeg?), taste is notably lighter, more spicy flavor: oregano, cedar, nori(seaweed), savory. Stronger coppery metal on the finish (i want to stop drinking here because of this).Fifth and last brew: 30 seconds - still lighter flavors - seaweed broth, cedar, saltiness, mineral flavor. Metalic finish is still there.Overall: 3/5 - not a daily drinker but definitely a fun experience and a funky tea!

Review: I let it steep for 15 mins for the second time brewing to get more flavor. I found out this product uses the tips and leftover pieces of the pu erh plant. Now it is still an awesome product with good flavor..but next time I will try the actual full size pu erh cake.

Review: I wanted to try Pu-erh tea for the first time having heard good things. I don't know what I expected but I do know that a fishy taste that won't go away is not something you want from a pu-erh tea. This has it through 2 rinses. It had no fragrance except clean earth when it was dry but it then went to fishy (or baitworm container) when rinsed. I'm hoping this is not what a pu-erh tea is supposed to taste like and that I just got a bad batch. 🙁

Customers say

Customers like the taste, quality, and value of the tea. They mention it's very flavorful, has a good mouthfeel, and is worth a try. Some are also happy with the energy level, texture, and color. However, some customers have mixed opinions on the smell.
