Celestron revolutionizes the Tabletop Dobsonian telescope with StarSense Explorer. This innovative telescope combines sky recognition technology and your smartphone to analyze and track celestial objects in real time. The user-friendly app interface and detailed tutorials make stargazing feel like having a personal tour guide. Say goodbye to complex star charts and imprecise planetarium apps. With StarSense Explorer, locating objects becomes easy, fast, and highly accurate. Setup is a breeze, and within minutes you'll confidently navigate the night sky. Just place your phone in the StarSense dock, launch the app, and perform a quick alignment. The app then generates a list of visible celestial objects specific to your location. Arrows guide your telescope as you move it towards the selected object, and a green bullseye indicates when it's ready to view. With its 114mm parabolic primary mirror, this telescope offers excellent light-gathering capabilities for detailed views of celestial wonders like Jupiter's moons, Saturn's rings, and the Orion Nebula. The stable Tabletop Dobsonian base provides a sturdy foundation and is compact and lightweight for easy transport. Smooth motion in altitude and azimuth is ensured by Teflon bearings, while the integrated altitude "brake" system allows for tension adjustment. The tube cradle allows easy positioning for ergonomic viewing, and an eyepiece rack keeps extra eyepieces within reach. StarSense Explorer is compatible with iPhone 6 and newer models, as well as most Android devices manufactured since 2016 and running Android 7.1.2 or later. For a full compatibility list, visit celestron.com/sse.
UNLEASH THE POWER OF YOUR SMARTPHONE: Let your iPhone or Android phone take you on a guided tour of the night sky—no telescope experience required. Just follow the arrows to locate stars, planets & more!
PATENTED STARSENSE SKY RECOGINITION TECHNOLOGY: This one-of-a-kind scope uses your smartphone to analyze star patterns overhead and calculate its position in real time.
APP GENERATES A LIST OF TONIGHT’S BEST OBJECTS TO VIEW: The app tells you what’s in the sky based on your exact time & location. View planets, brighter nebulae, galaxies, star clusters from the city PLUS fainter, deep sky objects from darker locations.
EASY TO SET UP AND USE: Manual tabletop Dobsonian base with Teflon altitude and azimuth bearings and a brace on the side panel for extra stability. The optical tube connects to the base via a tube cradle.
HIGH QUALITY 114MM NEWTONIAN REFLECTOR: Large aperture parabolic primary mirror has enough light-gathering ability to bring out detail in celestial objects.

Title: Works fine
Review: Amazon did a great job with delivering it. The product is very good but there instructions on siding the telescope are very confusing if it hadn't meant for you too I'd probably still be trying to figure out some things or sending it back to you guys, but it seems to be working fine and if somebody is interested in getting a quality telescope as a starter, it's a good choice.

Title: Great scope for the price.
Review: Don't care much for the Dobsonian mount, easy to operate, but doesn't move smoothly. The StarSense software works well in dark skies, but not so much in my backyard. The scope itself is great, just needs to be matched with a different mount.

Title: Planets, moons and stars… oh my!
Review: Scope arrived with the base unassembled, laminated particle board. It is pretty sturdy after it is put together, and an impressive site to see. Not too large for my 12yr old to handle, but large enough to let in sufficient light for star and planet gazing. The lens caddy for the base is meant to take on and off so the screws cannot be over tightened as they only go in so far.The laser pointer/finder slides right on, is easy to adjust, and works pretty well! I was able to align it with the scope within minutes. Do this during the day… Saturn was in view last night and I aligned the scope with Saturn using the laser finder and it appeared right in the lens’s field of view! It was the first time I ever witnessed Saturn and it’s rings through a telescope and it was pretty exciting. I added a 2x Barlow lens adapter and was able to get a zoomed in view that was even more impressive. I was even able to make out one of it’s orbiting moons. It takes a little patience getting used to adjusting the scope while viewing targets as everything you see appears in reverse. To track targets while looking through the lens, you will need to move the scope in the opposite direction (right goes left, left goes right, up goes down, down goes up). It’s easy to do, just takes some practice. The Starsense app works as expected and I was able to get it working without a lot of extra effort. I’m pretty satisfied and makes the setup look professional.I can’t wait to see what else we can spot in the night sky! This is our first telescope so we cannot compare it to anything else, but based on our experience last night, I would have no problems recommending it!

Title: Good telescope for beginners using an iPhone X
Review: Very easy to assemble and use. Well made and good optically. The StarSense Explorer app is a joy to use, even for beginners. Craters on the Moon, rings of Saturn, moons of Jupiter, double stars, currently visible comets, and even some deep sky objects can be seen thanks to this app. But I'm not giving the scope 5 stars because the app doesn't work with two different recent Android phones I tried. Celestron's tech support was unable to help with this. I bought a used iPhone X for it and it works great. The two eyepieces that come with it are adequate, but the Celestron zoom eyepiece (available separately) gives greater flexibility in magnification.

Title: Great so far
Review: Great beginner scope, very stable and easy to use. These pictures were taken with a phone adapter and the basic eye pieces. Not even with a Barlow or lower piece. Can’t wait to Jupiter, saturn, and possibly andromeda galaxy. Would not recommend for astrophotographers and the scope dosen”t track, but more for raw viewing. Haven’t been able to see any nebulas yet. All in all great scope to get into the hobby!

Title: Great size/price compromise
Review: I did spend more time than I usually do researching this purchase. Opinions differ, but the most frequent advice is to go for an 8" or 6" Dobsonian and by the size that you will take out to make observations. I am very impressed with this package, and the star sense explorer smartphone app is really a game changer in terms of helping beginners like me find the objects they are looking for in the sky, and positively identify what they're named. Until I know for sure that astronomy is a hobby I want to get more serious with, this was the perfect choice for me.
