Title: Excellent
Review: This book is amazing. I am embarrassed it has taken me this long in my 30 year tennis career to stumble upon this gem. Amazing tips and strategies for improving mental performance on court. This book and Inner Game are a pair. Inner Game is a little more theoretical and Best Tennis is more practical. I highly recommend both!

Title: Nice review to help your mental game
Review: This book will help the weekend league player looking to improve their mental game. I like the author's advice to "allow" yourself to go for your shot. Of course, you must also practice and practice that shot first!A quick read, very helpful

Title: The Best Tennis of Your Life: 50 Mental Strategies for Fearless Performance
Review: I've been playing A grade tennis for over 30 years and never really considered the mental aspects of the game. I highly recommend this book. I got a lot out of it and now better understand how the mind and my thoughts play such a important part in the game. Gone are the days of expecting to win every point and never making a mistake. Now I don't beat up on myself for making errors. The book's filled with wisdom about attitude, behavior, positive affirmations and how you bring all these together to make you a better tennis player and person. I'm ordering additional books to give to my team mates. It's one of those books that will change your life.

Title: A quick useful read
Review: I bought it mainly to discuss with my son who competes at the junior level. The book is easy to read (highlight), pick out the main ideas from each chapter (there are 50 of them) and try to implement those that you need, such as breathing or relaxing your body, how to get back into focus during the match and how to act when you are driven crazy by your opponent's dirty play.

Title: Very good and helpful.
Review: The author did a great job summarizing a LOT of sports psych into easily digestible tidbits. It makes it much easier to sink in when you don't have to slog through pages and pages of background material that would only be of interest to a councilor. And the small size and direct prose is perfect for those times when you need a quick refresher on a topic.Where I found the book lacking was on dealing with abusive team mates. I've been in matches where during the last few games of the last set, my partner just starts getting really abusive when the errors happen. I find it impossible to get my head back into the game when my partner is screaming "Just get it IN!" when I double fault. Or as what happened to a friend of mine when her partner told her that he'd "kill her if she misses a shot!"Yeah, you don't have to play with them AFTER, but you have a game with them NOW - what to do?For those who want more on sports psych and what wasn't listed in the author's suggested reading:In Pursuit of Excellence - 4th Edition - I know, the title looks like some hokey business book, but Terry has a lot of good stuff in there.

Title: Relax, enjoy, and win
Review: The next edition of this book should be subtitled "Relax, enjoy, and win" because that's exactly what it helped me do. Yes, even at the recreational level, playing to win is part of the game (your doubles partner would no doubt approve) but subjecting yourself to an ongoing internal monologue of pressure and self-criticism is demoralizing, ineffective, and takes the fun out of the game. Jeff Greenwald tells you how to reduce pressure and relax which in my case has resulted in more wins, fewer losses, and - best of all - a lot more enjoyment. I play doubles with a very competitive group and found myself becoming uncomfortable at the prospect of playing each week but after reading The Best Tennis of Your Life I look forward to playing and really enjoy it. Read this book and smile when Hammerin' Hank winds up for a cannonball serve to your backhand. See if you don't return more of them and enjoy the game too!

Title: Stands up to the Test of Time
Review: I've owned this book for over 10 years and it's still my go-to book to inspire me before a match, cheer me up after a disappointing loss or to give to students who are struggling with the mental game. The 50 short chapters cover a range of situations and feelings one comes across while competing, and gives suggestions for overcoming each difficulty.

Review: Who knew that for all these years I was focusing my energy on the wrong things. This book changed my game, I finally feel I can play to my potential when required. This book is focused on the mental preparation. One thing that is missing is what strategy you want to choose and go with. I would recommend choosing one tried and tested strategy for both singles and doubles and sticking with it. Personally for singles I'm choosing 'home base' and for doubles 'aim above the net strap'. Both super simple strategies but man with the right mindset it is amazing how much more I win now as I at least have a plan!
