Tips to get the most accurate temperature reading every time
Important Tips for All Temperature Readings
Always wait for three flashing lines on the display before every reading. Wait at least 15 minutes to take a reading after eating, drinking, exercising or bathing. If you or your Kinsa were outside on a cold day, wait until you are used to the new temperature before taking a reading. A person’s body temperature will fluctuate depending on the time of the day. The best method to determine your own normal temperature is to record it twice a day (early morning and late afternoon) when feeling well. The average of the two is considered your normal body temperature.
Underarm Readings
Wipe armpit with a dry towel and make sure that no clothes are in the way. Place the thermometer probe in the armpit and keep your arm pressed firmly against the body. In general, a normal underarm temperature is considered 35.8°C - 37.2°C (96.5°F - 98.9°F). Also, please note that underarm readings are typically 0.6°C (1°F) lower than oral readings; this is perfectly normal. The Kinsa app automatically takes underarm readings into account when calculating the severity of the fever, but it does not artificially add that 0.6°C (1°F) to the temperature reading.
Oral Readings
For oral readings, always place the probe tip of the thermometer in your mouth’s heat pocket - under the tongue at the back of the mouth. Keep your mouth closed while the temperature reading is being taken. The temperature in one spot of the mouth can be very different from another so always put the probe tip in the same heat pocket for every reading. A normal oral temperature is considered 36.1°C - 37.7°C (97.0°F - 99.9°F).
Rectal Readings
Consider applying a bit of petroleum jelly on the QuickCare tip to make it easier to insert. Place your baby on a firm surface, either on her stomach or back, with legs lifted up to the chest (think diaper-changing position). Insert the probe tip about ½ inch inside. Never insert the probe past the metal tip. Stop if you meet any resistance. Hold QuickCare between two fingers while keeping your hand cupped around your baby's bottom (you might need to squeeze the cheeks together to hold it in place). Remember, rectal temperatures tend to be about 0.3°C (0.5°F) higher than oral and 0.6°C (1°F) higher than underarm readings. In general, a normal rectal temperature is considered 36.4°C - 37.9°C (97.5°F - 100.3°F). If you'd like to verify your results, be sure to wait 5 minutes first for the most accurate second reading.
ACCURATE, RELIABLE, FAST - FDA-cleared for safety & accuracy, the Kinsa QuickCare smart thermometer produces an accurate temperature reading (in F and C) in under 8 seconds. QuickCare also meets ASTM standards for all thermometer devices.
VERSATILE DESIGN + COMFORTABLE, FLEXIBLE TIP - The stick-shaped thermometer can be used orally, underarm or rectally. The soft outer coating and flexible, bendable tip offers optimal comfort for family members of all ages, from your sleeping baby to elderly grandparents, and everyone in between.
EASY TO USE - No-hassle design & large lighted display with fever indication icons makes temperature-taking a breeze - and temperatures easy to read, day or night. A simple push of a button toggles your thermometer between F and C readings.
SMART FEATURES FOR ADDED PEACE OF MIND - Unlock additional benefits when using your thermometer with the free Kinsa app**. The app turns your QuickCare thermometer into a Nurse in Your Pocket, answering the questions you care about when a loved one is sick. **App not required for the thermometer to work. Plus, Ellie the Elephant’s bubble-blowing animation* entrances fidgety kids, keeping them still so you get an accurate reading every time. *Displays on your smartphone screen.

Title: BEST THERMOMETER - ACCURATE - GREAT APP
Review: PEDIATRICIAN RECOMMENDATIONS:- NEVER BUY TYMPANIC, FOREHEAD, TEMPORAL ARTERY, etc. thermometers (Even Kinsa's!). They can be 3 degrees off.- ALWAYS BUY ORAL/RECTAL thermometers for accuracy. BUY THIS ONE. It's awesome. Some Chinese off-brands may not be accurate.- You can take underarm temps for a "ballpark" number, but for an accurate number, take rectal for kids under 3, oral over 3I am a pediatrician, and I just had my first child. He developed a fever but I didn't know how high. I almost bought a $260-300+ Welch-Allyn SureTemp Plus 692 (it's what I use at my office), but with an infant, I would mostly take rectal temps. I knew the SureTemp takes 4-6 second oral readings, but I did NOT know rectal readings took 10 seconds! So I decided to try this for LESS than 1/10th the price. And am I glad I did!!!I just received my Kinsa QuickCare Smart Digital Thermometer yesterday (a bit late, my son's fever had passed), and I am VERY impressed. Setup is VERY EASY considering there's an app to set up rather than simply taking temps. The app recognized the thermometer right away, sync'ed super fast. Readings happen VERY FAST. It starts showing temperature readings within 1 second, though it takes a few seconds to get a final reading. It feels like 3-4 seconds. The Kinsa QuickCare feels solid and the tip is surprisingly flexible. The silicone rubber shell feels like quality, not plasticky. The app is also very intuitive, allowing you to keep a record of temps taken as well as other symptoms, and allows multiple profiles so you can keep straight who started with what symptom when. It also offers the ability to move temp readings from one profile to another (in case you forgot to switch profiles before taking the next temperature). The app is handy for keeping track of common cold and stomach bug symptoms. Your pediatrician will be so impressed you know EXACTLY when your child's cough and fever started, when it stopped, etc! I know I would!FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS:- DON'T cheap out and buy the $8 Chinese off-brand; they may not be accurate and will crap out on you quickly. Buy this one!- DON'T spend more on "instant read" tympanic, temporal artery, and forehead thermometers; you will get LESS ACCURATE readings

Title: Quick and easy to use!
Review: UPDATEâ1 year later and I still love this thermometer! If my son is sick and he takes his temp or my (sometimes forgetful) husband uses it to take a temp and get the Bluetooth notification right on my phone and often and check and see what the result is before they even tell me. Highly recommend.Only downside is I feel the updated app version isnât *quite* as user friendly as the older version, but still great! I really like this thermometer so far. It was a breeze to set up with my phone. I keep track of my son's fevers and I love that with this, they automatically get sent to my phone when the thermometer is done. From there you can select which person/account you want the temp to go under and you can select if it was an oral, underarm or rectal temp. I like that the thermometer lights up and instead of changing colors like ones I've had in the past, it has a little smiley/frown face. There's a lot of information in the app for help on knowing when to contact your Dr, take medicines ect. There's also a neat chart that collects your temps (for some reason I can only upload 1 picture to this review). You can keep track of symptoms too.

Title: Accurate & Reliable
Review: This thermometer gives me peace of mind when I get different readings from our temporal thermometer. It is accurate and my go to when the kids are sick. I love the app and the recommendations it gives based on temperature readings. I also appreciate that the app gives you the ability to log symptoms, medications, set reminders, document diagnoses, and leave notes for each member of your family.

Title: Great product and easy to use
Review: I first heard about Kinsa on the Today show and thought it might be nice to use for my granddaughter with this nasty flu going around. The thermometer was very easy to connect to my phone, even for someone like me who isn't so tech-friendly. I was able to set up a profile for my granddaughter using their free app and take her temperature in a couple minutes. She likes to watch the bubbles that pop up on the screen while its taking her temperature. I like that its easy for me to see immediately if she's got a fever or not. I also like that the app gives guidance on which medications to use to treat her fever that's based on her age.My only critique is that I wish it allowed you to have multiple accounts. My wife and I watch our granddaughter almost daily, and it would be nice if my daughter could login to the app and see the information and temperatures we entered as well. I already contacted their support team about this and it sounds like its something they're working on.Overall great product, would recommend to anyone with kids or who watches their grandkids.

Title: Great thermometer
Review: It's nice that ir has an app to store every temperature reading and the temperature record can be shared, the only thing I don't like is the on/off button; it's ver small and difficult to turn off
