The RTH7600D 7-Day Programmable Touchscreen Thermostat has the features you want, such as a large touch-screen display and Smart Response Technology. It automatically adjusts the heating/cooling of your home, so you’re comfortable at your programmed times. With Auto Change from Heat to Cool, the switch from heating to cooling is automatic. Even better, this thermostat is compatible with many systems, so installation is a breeze.
Large touchscreen display makes it easy to set your preferred temperature or set a weekly schedule for automated adjustments.
Set home and away temperatures to help save energy when you're not home. Temporary and permanent hold settings are also available for extended absences from home.
7-Day menu-driven programming with 4 periods per day.
Backlit touchscreen display shows current room temperature and set point temperature simultaneously.
Simple and straight forward to install and use. The thermostat also has a real-time clock so it will automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time.
Smart Response Technology allows the thermostat to learn how long the furnace and air conditioner take to reach programmed temperature settings, so you're comfortable at the time you expect.
Auto changeover is helpful in climates where both air conditioning and heating are used on the same day. When the system is set to Auto, the thermostat automatically selects heating or cooling depending on the indoor temperature so you can always be comfortable.
To protect the system and your compressor from damage, this thermostat contains a setting that forces the compressor to wait a few minutes before restarting. If activated during installation, the screen will also display an alert when it's time to replace your filter and alert you of low batteries.
Battery-powered or option to hard-wire (2 AA batteries needed if using battery power option.)
Compatible with- single stage heating and cooling, multistage heating and cooling, heating only, cooling only, furnace (warm air), central air conditioning, heat pump without auxiliary heat, heat pump with auxiliary heat, hot water, steam or gravity, 750 millivolt, and gas fireplaces.

Title: Inexpensive, simple, efficient and thus far reliable!
Review: I purchased this thermostat to replace a 20 year old (original) mercury analog thermostat for our upstairs unit. The main reasons I chose this unit were price, features, brand name and overall reviews (touch screen was desired but not mandatory).IN THE BOX:The package came with everything necessary for installation, including wire flags to mark each wire with before you pulled them off the old thermostat so that you could more easily identify where they go into the new one (a very nice touch). The thermostat was, of course, included along with an installation manual and a user's manual, and a couple mounting screws with wall anchors.INSTALLATION:We have a gas furnace and ac, so for us it was a four wire job (no flags were even necessary). It couldn't have been any simpler to mount and wire. If you have an electric furnace w/ emergency heat and/or a multiple stage unit your installation will be more involved, but if you take your time and flag the wires it still shouldn't be overly complicated (if you don't feel comfortable doing it, it's better to get a professional to do the job - please don't risk messing up your several $K system). The installation manual is pretty clear, however I can see a few places where a bit of confusion may arise for those who have never installed a thermostat before. Overall, this thermostat is just as easy to install as any other thermostat on the market (they're all pretty much the same), if not a touch easier due to the thoughtful inclusion of the wire flags.SETUP:Read the manual!! Sorry, I had to get that out of my system after seeing many of the unfounded poor reviews on here from people who claim this thermostat is unable to do things that it actually is able to do, if they had just taken the extra couple minutes to flip through the pages in the user's guide...With that said, setup is a bit of a mixed bag - it's pretty easy to setup, however you MUST read the manual in order to set certain functionality, as it is code driven (the unit uses a numbering system to select functionality, and you must match the number up to that in the manual to select what features you want to activate / deactivate). Fortunately, once you set it up once, it's good to go. It could be a bit more intuitive, but to be honest, I thought the manual was easily understandible and I had no problems with the setup. The one thing that did bother me a bit was the fact that the date can only be found and changed under the numbered setup, instead of being programmable with the time under the 'normal' screen setup. I guess this should only have to be set once, though, so it's not really THAT big of a deal in hindsight (just a bit frustrating at the time).PROGRAMMING:Programming could have be bit more intuitive in my opinion, though it isn't difficult (and you don't have to do it often once you get it set where you want it While the manual wasn't required for me to do this, it would have probably been helpful on my first run. This thermostat has individual daily settings, each with four time slots for when you sleep, wake, are away, and return home, and each slot with their own high temp and low temp range (the thermostat can be set to change over from AC to Heat, or vice versa automatically as necessary in the setup codes, though we kept ours manual). You can select multiple days at once to program identically, which is a nice feature and saves a bit of time. Overall it's not difficult, however it was just a bit more tedious than our downstairs unit (a higher end non-touchscreen thermostat from another make).SCREEN QUALITY (TOUCH AND VIEW):The screen is easy to read, well lit and thus far I have experienced perfect touch sensitivity. The green glow may be 'outdated', but it does a nice job illuminating and we purchased this thermostat knowing that's what it had, so I don't understand why some other reviews have even mentioned that as a gripe... It's nice that you can touch the screen once anywhere in the 'touch sensitive' areas (along the bottom and right side) to light it for viewing, then touch it again to change settings. This seems like it should be a given, though I've dealt with touch screen units in other homes that require a touch it to light it, however that first touch changes settings at the same time). The buttons are large enough for me to comfortably navigate without worrying about hitting the wrong button or multi-button pressing (I have good sized hands).FUNCTIONALITY:The thermostat has worked very well for us thus far. We haven't had any of the constant cycling on/off issues that have been expressed in other reviews, however I installed it in late September so we missed the really hot season; we'll see how it does as it begins to get really cold now. I am not worried about it though - it keeps us comfortable and does exactly as it has been programmed to do. The temperature is also a LOT more accurate than our previous mercury model...MATERIAL / BUILD QUALITY:Overall the quality of materials is good. The plastic housing is a bit flimsy - once mounted on the wall the thermostat still has some give and play, though it's sufficiently stiff as to not allow movement during regular button pressing and such, and the electric contacts seem to be firmly in place. After I installed the thermostat, I did notice that the screen was not positioned correctly. It seems that the screen is held into place using just the pressure from the cover. I was able to use my thumbs and gently slide it back into the proper position, and it is held firmly enough so that it shouldn't be a future issue (unless handled somewhat roughly), but it does seem that they would have secured it better with clips or something.OVERALL:For the price of this thermostat (keep an eye out for the dicounts) it is practically unbeatable, and I have no gripes or regrets purchasing it. We wanted a simple second zone therostat with daily programming and at least two time slots per day. I did my research, and the Honeywell RTH7600D has met or exceeded all of my expectations so far. While setup requires the manual, you should only have to do it once. Programming takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do a few slots it's pretty easy. The touch screen is sensitive and well lit. Functionality is exactly as it should be.This has been a great unit for us, and it's certainly nice not having to slide the temperature adjuster every morning, then slide it back right before we go to bed (and wait for the temperature to get back into a comfortable range).

Title: perfectly passable product good brand.
Review: ............................. I bought this unit in September of 2013 after buying another model of thermostat just before buying this one and not liking it very much. sadly I cant do a full service review of this product since I haven't installed it yet as early march 2014 . but I will review the things that I have played around with or tested. I cant review its accuracy. ease of use or functionality when installed but I can review some of the items I have played around with without installing this unit. first as this unit was purchased to replace a recently bought unit that this one replaced. the reason I bought this unit as compared to the lux unit purchased before I purchased this one was the lux model had numerous vague and hard to program or set functions and settings as well as less than acceptable customer service where the consumer had to leave a message on a service and wait for them to call you back for an answer. the only thing about the lux model that I liked was its aesthetic style but all the other issues made me replace it . after doing heavy research and reading online reviews about different brands and models of thermostats I finally bought this one the reasons why will be explained below. ............reason one. the backlit touchscreen display. its easier to use in the dark . the large format display makes it easy to read from farther distances than standard thermostats with small unlit displays. reason two. the digital touchscreen style buttons. they don't collect dust. they are easier to read than plastic or rubber buttons with the functions screen printed on under over or to side of them and like television remotes you cant rub the printed on info off over time. and obviously there are not all the holes and crevices that have to be blown out or cleaned regularly. ..............reason three. the power supply options. this unit can be powered by either two A.A. batteries. or the second option is to power it directly by the 24 volt power control circuit by your furnace. the only drawback is your home furnace and thermostat has to be wired with the right type of four wire cable for furnaces without A.C. or five wire cable for furnaces with A.C. and that is if your furnace and or air are both single stage. if they are dual stage you may need to have as many as seven or eight wires to feed your thermostat. for more info consult your factory instructions or download the online P.D.F file from your computer . ...............reason four. the built in battery backup. this unit comes with a built in lithium button battery that keeps all clock memory main menu and personal function settings alive and set even during power outages and If the A.A. replaceable batteries die. the instructions do say that the lithium battery backup is supposedly good for five to six years. but one drawback is I don't think the backup battery is replaceable . ...............reason five. the ease of programming the main menu and personal settings or functions clock and so on compared to programming other thermostats like the previously stated lux model . the one minus issue is to program this unit you do need to have the factory paper instructions or the online P.D.F instructions because Honeywell uses special two and three digit codes to set these programs. ...............the few minor things that I do not personally like about this unit is I think the backlight could be a little brighter or have the ability to adjust both brightness and color to your personality and I also wish there was a feature to adjust the contrast of the display. the last thing is I think it could be easier is to replace the A.A. power feed batteries rather than having to forcefully yank the front display unit from the back plate especially if you cant directly power this unit from your furnace and as I previously have stated I don't fully like the aesthetic style but I can deal with it. ...............overall I think this unit is a really good compromise between price. features. style. programmability and so on having the ability to work with all types of systems heat and or A.C. single and dual stage systems. no thermostat is perfect but Honeywell is the number one most popular brand of thermostat on the market. this one meets my high standards it is also because it is better than a base or moderate model at 35 to 50 dollars and its under 100 dollars so its affordable and as long as you are tech savvy enough to figure it out its not hard to use and not as complicated or frustrating as a smart capable W.I.F.I enabled or computer network. tablet. or smartphone. enabled unit that can sell for prices from 120 dollars to well over 300 dollars so in finality I think it is a perfectly passable product and high quality as well......... p.s. this is on older out of date and discontinued unit there is a newer version of this item listed on this units product page so please keep that in mind and second please double check to make sure of the type of furnace unit you have because this thermostat does not seem to be compatible with heat pump systems based upon numerous online reviews and technical specs written online and listed in the user instructions.

Review: This thermostat is perfect for my electric baseboard heating system that has a thermostat on a transformer and uses a two wire system (had an old style mercury switch thermostat in place before).Once you figure out which of the two wires go where (in my case black wire to W and white wire to R) it all worked well. A little challenging to program the installers features but once you learn youâre good to go.No C wire needed as it runs on two AA batteries. It controls the heat perfectly and is simple enough for most people to use.Just the fact that it sets the heat back at night so Iâm not spending money (electric heat is expensive) while I sleep.Recommended product.
