Kelley Higney and Ellen McAlisterKelley Higney and Ellen McAlister

Bug Bite Thing was founded in 2017 by Kelley Higney and her mother Ellen McAlister, a seasoned entrepreneur. Kelley’s daughters, like her, were both “mosquito magnets.” After many failed attempts to find relief by using creams and trying home remedies, Kelley decided to research how other countries combat insect bites. She discovered an innovative product that used suction to remove the insect saliva/venom and eliminate the itching, stinging, and swelling, instead of masking the symptoms. Amazed by the effectiveness of the product, Kelley knew she had to make it readily available and offer other families relief. In October 2019, Kelley and Ellen appeared on ABC’s hit show, “Shark Tank” and pitched to the Sharks to invest in their business. After receiving offers from all the Sharks, they decided to strike a deal with Lori Greiner. Since appearing on “Shark Tank,” Bug Bite Thing’s business has flourished and the company is on its way to becoming a global household name.

Title: Effective, Simple, and Chemical-Free Relief!
Review: The BUG BITE THING Suction Tool is a lifesaver! I was skeptical at first, but after using it on multiple mosquito bites, I’m amazed at how well it works. It provides instant relief by reducing the itch and swelling, all without needing any creams or chemicals. The tool is easy to use—just place it over the bite or sting, pull the handle, and it creates suction to remove the irritant. I noticed that after using it, my bites didn’t swell as much, and the itching was significantly reduced. It’s small and portable, so I keep it with me everywhere. What I love most is that it’s safe for kids and adults, and since it’s chemical-free, there’s no mess or worry about skin reactions. It’s also reusable, which makes it a great value for the price. If you’re looking for a natural and effective way to deal with bug bites and stings, I highly recommend this product. It really works!

Title: Works Like a Charm! A Must-Have for Bug Bites
Review: I am genuinely impressed with the BUG BITE THING Suction Tool. This little gadget has been a lifesaver for my family! It’s easy to use, and within minutes of applying it, the itch and swelling from bug bites or stings significantly reduce. We’ve tried it on mosquito bites, bee stings, and even a wasp sting, and the relief was almost immediate.I love that it’s natural—no chemicals or creams, just a simple suction mechanism that draws out the irritants. It’s small, lightweight, and easy to carry on outdoor adventures, hikes, or just keeping in your bag during summer months. The black color gives it a sleek look too.If you’re tired of the constant itching and irritation from bug bites, I highly recommend this tool. It’s well worth the investment and works like a charm!Does this match what you’re looking for?

Title: Worked well, until it cracked
Review: This device works pretty well. I used it a number of times. Even when it wasn’t immediately after being bitten, it still helped some to reduce irritation. Unfortunately, when I picked it up to use it for the first time in a couple of months, it didn’t work. Somehow the applicator cap that you use to press against your skin had cracked. It looks like it cracked when the cap was on with the large part on the big piece, and the little hole out, for a small bite. I’d mainly used it with the large part against my skin, with no problem; when I switched it, it worked, but apparently the stress from being a little small (combined with the plastic drying out with age) let to it cracking while it sat on my shelf. You’re supposed to take it off and clean it after each use, which I did. At least it worked for a while! Just be careful with that piece. Don’t leave it on the big piece with the small hole out.

Title: This silly little thing actually WORKS
Review: I am a security guard and am often posted outside for 10-12 hours a night. My current post is guarding the outside of a building that has a small parking lot. A wash (desert equivalent of a ravine/river) sits right on the other side of the chainlink fence that follows the perimeter of this parking lot. And it's currently monsoon season so this wash is full of water/muck/tall grasses and all the flying insects that come with still water. (Mostly mosquitos and chiggers) So I'm stuck sitting about 6-20 feet away from it. I also don't have working ac in my truck so I roll the windows down. Needless to say, despite wearing literally THREE different kinds of insect repellant, I still get bit. A LOT.Personally, I don't think this thing actually removes the toxins from your skin. But I think it does do a decent job of bringing the venom/mosquito spit upwards toward the surface of your skin, enough to make the itch subside. Also, the feeling of the surprisingly powerful suction feels SOOOOO GOOD on the itchy bite.Does it work every single time? No. (It does NOT work on chigger bites, unfortunately, but if you look this up you'll discover that chiggers don't bite like gnats, mosquitoes, etc do. So this would make sense) But this thing works well enough for me to carry it with me whenever I go, and to absolutely recommend it to anyone who asks. It's also super easy to clean. I would 100% buy again.Side note: if you watch any of Coyote Peterson's venomous bite videos, you'll see he uses a professional-looking version of this little device. His is much bigger and is made of strong glass, and I'm pretty sure his actually DOES draw the venom all the way out of the skin, but either way when I saw him using it I was so excited. Him using the same sort of technology as this (in my mind) proves that it works. Lol.Update: so this thing DOES have the ability to suck out the venom. Sorry this pic is kind of gross TMI, but I applied heat to this bug bite and then used the bug bite thing 2x and wouldn't you know, there's something being sucked out if the bite here, as you can see in this close-up picture.I am satisfied. Lol.

Title: Sucks the mosquito venom out!
Review: Living in areas where mosquitoes, gnats & deer flies are abundant, I decided to try these in lieu of using so much bug spray. If you remember to use this device before you start scratching the bite, it works much better to alleviate the itchiness. It doesn't completely stop all of the itching (that I have found), but it eases it somewhat. The location of the bite also affects how well it works...it works better on fleshy areas than bony areas because you get better suction. It's compact enough to carry in a pocket or purse.

Review: The Bug Thing works! I have used it as has my family. It takes the itch out, hands down. Fortunately we only had misquote bites to try them out on. I purchased 3 and will have to reorder because everyone wants to try them. I want my own as sharing is overrated. They can be washed with soap and water and are sturdy enough to last. Great stocking stuffer if going on vacation as well.
