The world’s most trusted guide for leaders in transition

Transitions are a critical time for leaders. In fact, most agree that moving into a new role is the biggest challenge a manager will face. While transitions offer a chance to start fresh and make needed changes in an organization, they also place leaders in a position of acute vulnerability. Missteps made during the crucial first three months in a new role can jeopardize or even derail your success.

In this updated and expanded version of the international bestseller The First 90 Days, Michael D. Watkins offers proven strategies for conquering the challenges of transitions—no matter where you are in your career. Watkins, a noted expert on leadership transitions and adviser to senior leaders in all types of organizations, also addresses today’s increasingly demanding professional landscape, where managers face not only more frequent transitions but also steeper expectations once they step into their new jobs.

By walking you through every aspect of the transition scenario, Watkins identifies the most common pitfalls new leaders encounter and provides the tools and strategies you need to avoid them. You’ll learn how to secure critical early wins, an important first step in establishing yourself in your new role. Each chapter also includes checklists, practical tools, and self-assessments to help you assimilate key lessons and apply them to your own situation.

Whether you’re starting a new job, being promoted from within, embarking on an overseas assignment, or being tapped as CEO, how you manage your transition will determine whether you succeed or fail. Use this book as your trusted guide.

Title: Thumbs up from a teenager
Review: "The First 90 Days" has been an incredibly valuable resource for my teen son, who is the cadet commander at his Civil Air Patrol squadron. His mentor recommended it to help him navigate the early days of his leadership role, and it has made a big difference in how he approaches decision-making and team building. The book provides clear strategies that are easy to understand and implement, giving him the confidence to lead effectively from the start.

Title: Great topics and strategies for starting a new Position
Review: Great topics and strategies for starting a new job. An engaging read and novel concepts for breaking up the first 90 days of starting a new position. Addresses being hired with a new company, as well as promotion within the same company. I wish I read this 10 years ago, highly recommend.

Reviewer: Love the book! Amazing read before a new start in your career. Unfortunately, my book was not printed currently. I have two chapter 7’s no chapter 8 or 9. Not quite sure what happened there but it’s a little disappointing.

Title: Missing chapters
Review: Great read! Love this book. Gets you in the right mindset before a new beginning in your career. Unfortunately, my book was printed incorrectly. It has two chapter 7’s and is missing chapter 8 and 9. Not quite sure how that happening. That part is disappointing, but other than that, everything is good.

Title: So helpful
Review: I switched careers and industries a year ago, which also involved moving from academia to corporate culture. It was a bewildering amount of change. This book helped me think through and strategize how to start off on the right foot and avoid any major mistakes. It brought a lot of peace of mind and helped me be confident. This is a great resource if you’re navigating a new job or career change and would be a thoughtful gift for anyone in your life going through this.

Title: Good book but not realistic, and not really any new ideas
Review: This book was ok, but kind of states the obvious. No real "aha" ideas. Additionally ,everyone loves a good 3-60-90 day plan, but the reality is you get thrown into the fire on day one and all your plans get thrown out the window.

Title: Actionable insights for executives in transitions
Review: This book is full of nuggets of wisdom from a top-tier consultant for onboarding and transition programs in Fortune 500 companies. It is focused on developing an action plan for the first 90 days of any executive in a new role. I recommend doing the exercises as we do not actually take the time to pause and reflect on what is going on in our day-to-day, besides a couple of actionable key insights will appear.CAVEAT: many parts of the book might not apply to you depending on the type of situation you are in at the moment of reading it, hence, this is a go to book as transitions become more common in today's business world.

Review: The book is well structured with many actionable points. Maybe it is more targeted at senior and upper management, nonetheless, many lessons can be learned for middle managers on how to help their boss to achieve their respective targets and play a pivotal role in it.

Te invito a leerlo!!!
