Osprey's Farpoint Travel Pack 40 is perfect for a weekend getaway in the city or the wilderness. The Light Wire frame suspension transfers the load from harness to hip belt. A mesh back panel improves ventilation and the mesh on the harness and hip belt reduces chafing under load. The entire suspension stows away under a zippered panel creating a sleek silhouette for transport. Unzip the lockable sliders to access the main compartment. Inside there's a mesh pocket for small items. Dual compression straps keep cargo from shifting during transit. Outside you'll find a zippered front panel slash pocket to keep you organized and sewn attachment points to lash on extra gear. No matter how much you choose to carry, dual compression straps stabilize the load. The padded top and side handles give you purchase when you need to toss the Farpoint 40 into the back of the bus. No matter where you go, the Farpoint is backed by Osprey's All Mighty .
Adjustable torso fit
External Gear Attachment loops
Padded top and side handles
The harness and hipbelt stow away for safekeeping while checked and deploy quickly for any path or trail

Title: Perfect travelers bag
Review: This is by far the best travel bag / backpack i've ever had. Comfortable to wear, plenty of space. The way the entire top can unzip like a suitcase is wonderful for packing/unpacking. The flat that covers the straps was genius. I was able to close it all up in one of our segments that required me to check all bags. This reassured me the straps wouldnt get caught on anything and less likely for any other damage along the way.I would say the laptop sleeve is a little odd as it's just a flap inside the main compartment. So you could lose or pack small things around the edges of the laptop partition but I guess i'd rather have the little extra space inside the bag than have it sewn away unusable. The handle on the side so you can carry it like a suitcase is also great. While walking around for a few hours with a reasonably packed and weighted bag the waste strap and shoulder straps work well together. The top (little) zipper area is great to stash coins, wallet , cell phone, or even passport if you need to empty out your packets and keep all that kind of stuff together.Material held up exceptionally well on a round the world month long trip. This bag, packed, fit perfectly under the larger American Airlines planes and almost didn't fit under the small puddle jumper planes (but did fit). If you've overpacked though it may not work well.

Title: Pricey, but perfect for a couple weeks overseas
Review: You see a lot of these bags around airports and now I know why. Great build quality, they fit nicely on your back, no pinch points, it breathes nicely. Just got back from 16 days in 4 countries, solely using this bag. Expensive but quality. As noted above, many people have these, a touch of customization to make your own stand out from the crowd is recommended! Had a gentleman pull mine from the overhead, we had identical bags other than a carabiner I had on mine.

Title: Great for people with mobility issues
Review: I bought this 40 L bag specifically for trips around a week long. As someone with mobility issue (Left side hemiplegia) I find wheeled bags impossible to use when walking with a cane. This bag is extremely comfortable and with adjustments to modify strap locations, load lifters to change weight distribution, and wide hip belts that offer great support I am able adjust this to minimize my disability. I have the original Farpoint 70L and have to say the updates have made this bag even more versatile and capable. The only downside is the zippers can be a little tough to get started one handed but as long as I can get someone to assist it works like a charm. Overall a great bag, especially at this price point.

Title: perfect short trip travel pack
Review: Lots of great features, well designed. I used this for a 10 day trip to Mazatlan to see the 2024 eclipse. It fit easily in the overhead storage and had ample room for clothes, essentials, and a small laptop. I particularly liked the stow-away straps, which when deployed, make airport transfers easier to navigate. I used an additional small daypack to supplement as carry on, but this pack did most of the work and made for an easier travel experience. I ended up buying another as a gift for my daughter for her travels, she loves it!

Title: Six Flights And It's Doing Great
Review: Got this for a trip to Greece and Italy. Easy to pack and with 2 weeks worth of clothes plus a lightweight wool jacket and a pair of shoes and second smaller backpack crammed inside, only weighed 16KG - plenty of extra weight available for souvenirs on the trip back. The backpack straps are comfortable and easy to adjust. Pack is very well balanced when on the back. Straps stow away easily. Materials seem durable and I haven't noticed any fraying or seams coming apart - construction quality is good. In contrast, the inexpensive Chinese army backpack I had flown with previously started looking tatty after only a couple flights, which is what prompted me to pick up this Osprey as an upgrade. The 80L size is good; as stated above, I could fit 2 weeks worth of clothes no problem. Main compartment is easily secured with a TSA-approved lock. Easily fit my shampoo and other such wet things in the upper outside compartment to keep it contained in case of a spill. Shoe compartment is also outside the main, so your clothes won't get dirty. Only complaint is that I wish there were a better system for securing the loose ends of the cinch straps, especially if the pack is full and the loose ends are short, but still able to get snagged potentially - it's a small complaint - when the loose ends are longer, it is easier to tuck them away. One problem I ran into was at Rome Fiumincino airport when the guy at check-in for ITA Airways tried to insist it was Oversized luggage because it had some trouble going through their (smaller than everyone else's) baggage conveyer. Eventually, I got him to relent and he let it get checked in the regular baggage and there was zero problems with it being handled after that. It has smaller dimensions than any typical large suitcase, so his insistence that it was oversized was BS, but the issue with the conveyer may have been because the pack was stuffed pretty full in a way that made it kind of awkwardly lumpy and odd shaped. I would say it is best to take care of when packing it that it doesn't get overstuffed into an odd shape (especially if flying with ITA! Turkish Airlines gave me zero trouble). The straps can be a little difficult to get into when it is fully laden, but once you're in, you're in and it is very comfortable. The side handle for carrying it like a duffle is a little bit off-balance, but it is still more comfortable than the handles on most duffles I've encountered. The top handle is very helpful for when yanking it off the baggage conveyer or out of a trunk. The internal frame is wonderful. Overall, I will say a solid 4.5 stars, because it's not totally perfect enough for 5, but it's still great. Flight-ready backpacks such as this are the way to go and I will never go back to using a suitcase for international travel.

Title: Work traveler
Review: I fly every other weekend for work and have always used a hiking backpack but have to carry my computer in a separate backpack. My old pack was top loaded and was difficult to find things in. I wanted something i could unzip like a suitcase but that would carry on my back. Buying this bag has worked out well in all fronts. The main pack fits, full and stretched, in the small overhead bins on the little puddle jumpers (emb145) when everyone is valet tagging their hardcase carryon bags and rollaboards. The day pack is nice but not for me. It only has one main pocket and no internal compartments to speak of. I also couldn't figure out how to clip it in to the main bag. But no worries there, I threw some caribeeners on the main pack and snapped my old computer backpack on. Even double stacked, the two bags carry well with the osprey hip belt and chest strap keeping it all comfortable.

Review: Pricey, but in my opinion an Osprey Backpack 40L is one of the best made backpacks on the market, bar none. Works well as an overhead storage carry on bag for air travel. Check airline size restrictions. Pairs well with Osprey Daylite or Daylite Plus backpacks. The shoulder harness system is adjustable and very comfortable. These bags are very well made and designed. If carrying a heavy weight for long periods is a problem for you there are Osprey Backpacks with wheels in 36L, 45L, 65L and 85L, although they are expensive, in my opinion. A small foldable luggage trolley might be worth considering. I'm not into using or wearing items with prominent company logos but I think the Osprey logo is not that noticeable. The addition of an integrated padded laptop sleeve is very handy for carry on luggage. Exterior side pockets are handy for water bottles, tripods, umbrellas, etc.
