The Kleynhuis Strainer Pouch Key Features
Thoughtfully Designed
The Kleynhuis Strainer Pouch is designed to line your colander and strain a full gallon (3 3/4 L) of yogurt, broth, jams, cold brew, cheese, nut milks, and other fine foods. It's made for use with colanders up to 10 1/2” (27cm) in diameter and 6 1/2” (16cm) tall.
Easy to Store
The Kleynhuis Strainer Pouch comes in a convenient zip-shut storage bag that is easy to store in any drawer.
Simple and Smart
The Kleynhuis Strainer Pouch has a handy cord lock that cinches around the rim of your colander to hold it in place. The durable, over-locked seams are sewn to the outside for easy cleaning.
Versatile Design
Both the nylon and organic cotton versions of the Kleynhuis Greek Yogurt Strainer Pouch now come standard with a back loop that is part of the unique, patent pending design! For those who like to hang their pouches, this added feature allows you to thread the main string through the loop and will help keep the pouch opening upright, so that yogurt does not escape.
The Kleynhuis Strainer Pouch Idea
I’ve been a long-time fan of making my own yogurt, but never liked any of the methods I found out there to strain it. Cheesecloth was too messy and/or wasteful. I tried coffee filters, but didn't like that I'd need to use several at a time. Other ways were plastic, expensive, or awkward to store.
So, I had an idea to make my own yogurt strainer. I designed and sewed the pattern for the original prototype; I made more Greek yogurt and tweaked the design; and then I spent a year figuring out how to make it available to others.
The result: The Kleynhuis Greek Yogurt Strainer Pouch. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Title: Revolutionary
Review: I searched high and low for an alternative to cheese cloth for straining my homemade yogurt into Greek yogurt. I didn't like how bulky traditional metal strainers were with their containers. And from reviews, many of them seemed less sturdy than I'd like. But this. Let me tell you, SO affordable, minimal, sturdy and EFFECTIVE. Sometimes I hang it, other times I set it in a caulander ontop of a stock pot and let it strain for an extensive time in the fridge. It can hold my whole gallon milk batch of yogurt just fine. The fabric and stitching is high quality! Like this lady knew what she was doing. I love that it's an American small business.I've also used it to strain homemade horchata. I know, I'm fancy. It would work perfectly for nut milks and anything else you need to finely strain! Oh and it's super easy to clean in the sink! Stop reading and just go buy it! You won't regret it.

Title: This is the best way to strain yogurt. Much less mess, easy to clean.
Review: I have been looking for a cost-effective, easy way to strain the yogurt which I make in my Instant Pot. I usually use between 1/2 and 1 gallon of milk for each batch. Space in our refrigerator is at a premium, so large fixed-sized strainers can not always fit. I don't like using coffee filters because that is an unnecessary waste. Cheesecloth is messy and hard to clean. So, I bought the cloth version of this strainer pouch. When open wide, it fits over a medium-sized colander, the drawstring is pulled to tighten it, and that in turn is placed in a bowl. Alternatively, the pouch could be closed off with the drawstring and hung to drain. After a few hours, the yogurt can practically be rolled out of the bag and into a container. The amount of yogurt that is left in the cloth seems minimal and cleaning is easy with water and minimal soap. Once clean, the cloth version probably takes longer to dry than the synthetic version, but I like the idea of cloth. I am not in a hurry.I highly recommend this method of straining yogurt as less messy and requiring less refrigerator real estate.Addendum- May 21 2020:I placed an order for another of the cheesecloth strainer pouches. I find it is a challenge to get all of a gallon of yogurt into one pouch. It can be done, but I spill easily while trying. Nevertheless, this is a fine product, thoughtfully created and ideal for its use. I continue to recommend it highly.

Title: Why oh why did I live this long without this yogurt strainer bag!
Review: I had grown weary of dealing with cheesecloth and its attendant issues such as shedding or not being fine enough. It was overall time consuming and turns out even more expensive compared to this yogurt strainer. Perfection achieved from my first use. I make all kinds of yogurt, nut milks, and cheeses. This bag is generous in size and is of hearty material yet drains beautifully. Washes up even moreso. I have two more on order.

Title: Easier to Use than I Thought
Review: I am SO new at making my own Greek Yogurt and considered one of those fancy all plastic strainers that you just pop in the fridge, but decided to try this less expensive strainer until I knew that this was something that I wanted to commit to doing often. Now that I have used this I don't think I'll ever invest in that plastic contraption. This is SO much more sustainable and surprisingly easy to use and clean. My yogurt comes out nice and thick and is easily removed from the cloth strainer. I just clean in the sink with a drop of unscented dish liquid rubbing it under running water. So, so easy. I drape it over dishes or hang to dry from my cabinet knob.

Title: This is what I call efficiency!
Review: This product works great as intended. I use this product to make my own Greek Yogurt from milk. I often use 1 entire gallon of milk to create the Greek Yogurt.Although this item is rated for 1 gallon of milk, I have found (after numerous Greek Yogurt batches) that the yogurt resulting from 1 gallon of milk overflows from the bag and it is extremely difficult to fit it all into the bag without a mess resulting.Although this strainer pouch cannot quite handle 1 gallon, it can handle slightly under. So I have found that by removing a couple of spoons of yogurt that I am able to fit most of a gallon into the pouch. After I fit all the yogurt into the pouch to strain, it only takes a few hours for Greek Yogurt to result. If you like Greek Yogurt more akin to the texture of the Greek Yogurts from stores you can strain for only 2 to 3 hours. But, for extra thick Greek Yogurt goodness, you can strain for even longer. (I think the longest I've strained for was 8 to 12 hours. It resulted in crazy thick Greek Yogurt). I do find that the extra long straining is not necessary since this strainer works well and strains whey out rapidly and efficiently.I also love that if you strain the yogurt a bit too much and it becomes a little too thick you can re-incorporate some of the strained whey to loosen the Greek yogurt. This strainer pouch strains CLEAR. So long as none of the yogurt spills over the pouch while trying to get everything into the bag, the strained whey will be clear as water (albeit, yellowish water). The resulting strained whey is not cloudy whatsoever and looks crystal clear. If you are unsure what to do with the excess whey you have, instead of dumping it down the drain or into the trash, you can use it in ways such as: a liquid in soups, a liquid in porridge, to soak beans/grains, to simply drink or blend into smoothies, etc.You might be wondering why you would want to use any of the leftover whey. The reason is that whey is extremely nutritious. Whenever we see products like whey protein, many people often think of an artificial product or a supplement as opposed to real food. Whey is real food. Whey protein is simply liquid whey that is dehydrated to leave only whey protein granules and not water. The whey granules are then processed in whatever facilities to remove as much remaining carbohydrates and fat as possible. But, regardless of removing any more carbs or fat, whey and liquid whey are both rich in protein, B vitamins, and minerals. Whey is simply a nutrient rich food byproduct that should not go to waste. Even if you cannot use all of your leftover whey, please try to use some.Anyway that is my full review. I 100% recommend this product as it works perfectly. The only caveat is that it falls slightly short of its 1 gallon rating. But it is very close! This is overall a great product. Not to mention that it can be used for more than just making Greek yogurt.

Review: This was an easy product to use with a colander to separate whey from my yoghurt and produced a firm Greek yoghurt. I also used it hung from its drawstring. It was a vast improvement from multiple layers of cheesecloth which I previously used. I recommend this product.
