Title: IMPORTANT...Read this before purchase
Review: This review was presented 1 week after purchase. You would be advised to read this before purchase. The only two stars, is not for bad quality, but indifference to what a TV is. This disinformation of incorrect advertising is alarming for possible buyers. Samsung painfully calls this a television, but you can not use it as a normal TV. You can’t plug a local channel antenna into the unit because it has no ANT ports or RCA’s ports. Absolutely nothing a television has. One person tells you it has a tuner and the other says it does not have a tuner. It does not have a tuner. A TV needs a tuner first to operate as a TV. Go figure. They say it’s a monitor on one side of their mouth and call it a television out of the other side. Lets be clear…It has two HDMI ports and two USB-2 ports as advertised only, so it’s not a true television in any way. It’s a true monitor, yet through their description, Samsung let’s you believe this unit is a television. It’s a monitor cut and dried, with an above average gaming platform. I use playstation 4 and this monitor and it is very good in that category.I review this unit not to hurt Samsung, in fact, I consider Samsung one of the best, but the way this unit is portrayed in all descriptions is very misleading and has and will cause a person that purchases this unit to be upset like myself, unless you know exactly what you want.This review is to help others. Amazon is great when it comes to returns. I could have just re-boxed and received a 100% refund. Thanx to Amazon for this practice. That said… I elected to keep the unit. (Maybe sorry later) Please read on…Here’s what I have done. I purchased a Roku, that I am accustomed, and I now watch local TV on my laptop, in addition to Roku local apps. Not great, but it works. Oh yea …Did I mention the Samsung remote is absolutely terrible. No good for app streaming at all. ( sorry but it’s JUNK)Roku has a very good remote with their user friendly platform, that uses the Roku interface. I must say, Samsung is third rate when it comes to app selection and app use( so called smart TV) compared to Roku. I made a one week evaluation. Roku is the only reason I did not return this unit. (NOT A TV BUT A BAD APP PLATFORM THAT THEY ADVERTISE AS A TELEVISION) .So in conclusion, If you want a television don’t buy. For smart TV, If you don’t have Roku don’t buy this unit for their app interface is terrible. Different story if you want a monitor. As for the picture quality of this monitor is second to none. Great definition, So sharp and defined, it took a couple of days to adjust.In close, I went onto Samsung’s site in real chat for help. When the rep found I already purchased the unit, he said and I quote, he could and would not help me. Bad business! This unit as I have described, is good in visual clarity, above average sound and good quality of construction and craftsmanship.( NOTE: Bluetooth only external speakers.) Again, the Samsung remote is mirrored junk! Oh Yea… The same day I made my purchase this unit went down in price $29.00, In less than 24 hours. It should have went way down in my humble opinion for a monitor. I should be reimbursed. It has not been a good experience. I do not recommend this unit unless you know exactly what you want it for, and the price is correct. Beware of the up and down pricing by Samsung on a constant basis. BOTTOM LAST LINE…I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS UNIT PER MY WANTS AND NEEDS, IF I KNEW WHAT IT WAS IN ADVANCE. This is an expensive monitor.
