Title: Pretty hard to beat
Review: I brought a pair of these along on an off-road expedition and quickly found them to be quite superior to the pre-configured ones handed out by the trip leader!First, the downsides, which are minor: one is that this is FRS-only, so a max of 2 watts transmit power, but the upside is there is no licensing requirement. Just know that they only transmit at full power on channels 1-7 and 17-22; channels 8-16 are 0.5 watts only and best reserved for your kids' secret backyard spy missions or when you have wide-open spaces and want to conserve battery.Second, these are a bit bulky. They're fine for me, but for a woman or anyone with small hands, they might be too big. In that case you might be happier with a non-waterproof radio like the Baofeng GM-15 or Radioddity equivalent, which are not only more compact but also offer more power (along with requiring a license, but that's only $35 and there's no test involved). Those things said, these are really good radios. On my trip, while I was using the unit provided by the trip leader, nobody could hear me transmit---which was a serious problem at one point. The batteries were good and the unit appeared operational---and I could hear everyone else---but it had apparently failed, and the transmit function no longer worked. When I switched to one of these, instantly everyone was hearing me loud and clear, which saved my bacon (I had an overheating engine). I didn't come close to touching the battery capacity in two days of continuous use (without recharging), and I was very pleased with the performance overall. The controls are fairly intuitive and the screen is clear (first photo), with an easy-to-activate bright green backlight that makes things really stand out in dim light situations. (The shadowing visible on the display in the photo is a some kind of artifact produced by the camera; the display is completely clear in reality.)There are also a larger number of "privacy codes" on these units than on most, which means that if everyone in your group are using these (or other similarly-equipped Motorolas) you'll have a larger number of privacy options, which increases your odds of finding a clear channel.Lastly, the option (as seen in the second photo) to pop in regular AA batteries in place of the rechargeable battery-pack that comes with the unit gives you good backup power options in case you don't have easy access to AC while out and about. These units are sealed against water, which means they are also sealed against changes in barometric pressure---which can in some situations pressurize the unit and reduce the speaker volume. If you're not getting full volume, try unplugging and then re-plugging the charging port to equalize pressure. All in all these were a very satisfying purchase that I will be using more in the days to come!

Title: Good quality
Review: I like the carrying case. The range of the radios is sufficient. I work around water a lot so I donât like how easily the headset stops working when it gets a little wet. After drying out however it does start working again

Title: Great!
Review: Plus: great form factor and color, the range is decent, they are truly splash resistant, and the USB-C charging plug is a big plus. The case they came in is awesome, too, which holds the radios annd all accessories. The built-in flash light (white and red) is a useful feature, too.Minus: battery life is poor, they hardly get through the day even on standby mode. They came with two pairs of batteries, which is great, but you need a screwdriver (!) to open the battery compartment! Also, the clip is too tight and not very flexible.

Title: GREAT RADIOS W/TERRIBLE BATTERY PACKS
Review: I SPENT A DAY GETTING THESE RADIOS CHARGED (ALL 4 BATTERY PACKS). THEN SPENT TIME FIGURING OUT ALL OF THE FEATURES AS THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE LACKING IN INFORMATION. ONCE COMPLETED, I WAS GOING TO SHOW MY WIFE HOW THEY WORKED SO WE'RE READY FOR AN UPCOMING TRIP. STILL THE SAME DAY...ALL BUT ONE BATTERY PACK WERE COMPLETELY DEAD, THE OTHER HAD ALREADY LOST 1/2 OF IT'S CHARGE. I REPLACED THE BATTERIES WITH FRESH AA'S, ONLY WORKED IN ONE RADIO. I REALLY LIKE THE RADIOS, BUT THEY ARE CRAP!!! MOTOROLA KNOWS THIS AND BASED ON PREVIOUS REVIEWS HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT! WILL BE RETURNING THESE IN SEARCH OF A BETTER PRODUCT...

Title: Easy To Use - Range Better Than Expected
Review: Just arrived, inserted included rechargeable batteries, turned it on, both radios worked perfectly! The wall charger has a Y cable, so both radios could charge at the same time - same thing for the car charger/cigarette lighter plug in-it has two USB's so both radios can be charged at once. Rechargeable batteries came charged and ready to go. I only rated Battery Life as a neutral 3 stars simply because I don't know yet how long they last. Switching batteries required removing two screws, which wasn't convenient but easy enough with a coin or screwdriver. I understand a screwed down battery case is necessary to be water proof. Build quality is very good, solid feel. Belt clip will clip on, or is removable - seemed quite sturdy. Bought these for emergency communications - I think a few extra bucks for waterproof is worth it. Liked the carry case, seemed durable enough for its intended purpose. Was easy to use right out of the box. Took one unit in the car, left one at home to test the range. Tested out to 1.5 miles through my neighborhood and across a college campus. Sound was pretty good - a little crackly, but definitely very understandable. Very pleased with these radios. Purchased a second set.

Title: Shipping you 7-8 year old batteries and wonât warranty them
Review: Motorola-when contacted about the batteries not working, not taking a charge, and unable to power the walkie talkies-said they wonât replace the batteries that have been sitting one the shelf for 7-8 years and fail to work in the walkie talkies. They work fine with AA batteries as they should. But for almost $300 for a set they should come with batteries that are usable. Completely terrible customer service on the phone. I was pleasant as I stated the case they were no help whatsoever. Really expected more from a company that has a solid reputation

Title: Great for travel
Review: We used these between cars on a cross country road trip! I drove a U-Haul with a car trailer attached and the other car was my lane-changing guide. These walkies were perfect and helped us communicate safely. Battery life was good- I only had to charge them once on the three day trip. The flashlight is great too for late night stops. Range was pretty good. Driving through busy cities we had no issues. 10/10 would recommend.
