Title: Love this - second machine we've owned!
Review: Totally love this updated model. We had one for years at another home and used it mainly for our entrance way & kitchen tile floor. With 3 dogs and a lot of foot traffic given the central location in our home, it got a lot of hard use and served us well. That model had a much smaller container for the cleaning liquid so it required multiple refills to finish the floor. It really never stopped working, we just decided it was time to let it go so it didn't make the move with us. The new model we just received has a larger container for the cleaning fluid and works great! We have a lot of tile floors as we are in south Florida now and I didn't but this right away -- so I just used a manual spray/push mop and soon decided that was ridiculous 🙂 In looking at all the different floor cleaners available, I decided once again this was the best bang for your buck! Certainly cuts the time in half and much easier on your back than a manual mop! This is worth every penny and a lot of bang for your buck without going to a more expensive machine. I usually sweep up at least in the kitchen first, so I don't expect this to be a vacuum cleaner, but it does have enough suction and pull up whatever is left behind. I don't expect to use it to clean our area rugs, but I have run it over a thin throw rug and it works fine. We don't have wood flooring but this seems to put out just enough moisture to do the job so it would not oversaturate your flooring and should work well. I like that it also has a trigger you can use for extra cleaning solvent to be dispensed for a tough spot on the floor. Just like after I would mop, I don't expect the floor to be completely 100% dry when I'm finished, but this does have a "wet / dry" lever and the dry side does pull up any excess fluid on the floor so in my book it works great and whatever is left behind dries up quickly. I hope it lasts us as long as the other one (many years!) and this one won't have to work quite as hard because our layout is different and we have fewer dogs now. So this is a good little workhorse and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Title: Poor build quality and HORRIBLE customer service.
Review: The first time I used the Hoover Floormate it leaked all over my floor. I chalked it up to user error and tried re-seating the tanks. It still leaked to some extent but was usable. Initial impressions were good. As the floor dried, I could see that the unit only cleans the "loose" dirt. Any dried stains (in my case dog drool from his food and water dish) will not be cleaned unless I go over the area 4-5 times, and sometimes they still persist. The Floormate worked moderately well for about 2 months until it suddenly started emitting a high shrieking sound and a burning smell. I checked the Hoover web site for information, and it directed me to a service number. I called 3 times, each time I waited for over an hour only to give up out of frustration. Before I disconnected eact time, I requested a call back. One week later I received a call from an out-of-state repair shop. The technician asked me a series of question and told me that the unit was under warranty. The person asked me what the specific issue was and after I explained she requested that I turn the unit on she could hear the issue for herself. I complied and she said, "I don't hear anything out of the ordinary". After a bit of back and forth she finally agreed to solicit a repair request with Hoover. I said, "you're not from Hoover?" and she replied "No, we're an independent repair shop that just assess as to whether a warranty claim is valid".40 minutes into the call she finally entered the claim and told me that Hoover would be in touch via email. She also said that I would have to drop off the unit at a local repair shop, which is an 80-minute drive from my home. I received the email form Hoover and contacted their service rep. The rep wanted me to go through the entire process again, this time requesting video proof of the problem. Before we got too far into the conversation, I told them that I had surgery scheduled and would be out of commission for 3 months, so I could not drop off the faulty item at the repair shop. They said that a drop off is my only option. At this point I had enough of this nonsense and decided it was better just to take the loss, toss the unit in the garbage and never buy products from Hoover again.I also have a Hoover rug cleaner which broke after about 6 months due to a rusty turbine, which is a known problem they refuse to address.BUYER BEWARE!

Review: This is the second of this model that I have owned. The first stopped working after about 4 years. The unit itself works very well on any hard-surfaced floor. There are some accessory brushes of differing stiffness, for different levels of dirt. We have porcelain flooring and 2 dogs. The combination of cleaning solution, scrubbing action, and suction work very well, keeping our floors nice and clean.Be sure to vacuum the floor first so as not to clog the brushes on the unit.If you think your floors are clean, get this unit. You will be surprised at just how dirty your floors really were.Definitely worth it.I was a bit disappointed at the short life of the unit. I expected it to last longer. But, it worked well enough that I got another.

Review: We inherited an old linoleum floor in our kitchen. It had an embossed design and dirt had embedded itself into the low points of the design. The areas with the most traffic held the most dirt (around the fridge, in front of the fridge, in front of the stove, path from the back door). I tried the machine directly on the high traffic areas and although it cleans very efficiently, and sucks up most of the dirty water after it has been over an area, it did not take out much of the ingrained dirt. My husband then took a long-handled scrub brush to the floor, using the same cleaning fluid, and I followed along behind with the Hoover. This worked very well. After that, in preparation for applying linoleum acrylic sealer we washed the floor with water. He mopped and I followed along behind with the Hoover. This worked very efficiently.PROS:long cord and place to wrap it on the handleefficiently sucks up any standing water on a flooreasy to maneuverholds a lot of cleaning fluid and water mixtureclean and dirty water tanks are easy to remove to empty and fillvisible evidence of the dirt being removed in the dirty water tankstrong suctioneasy to assembleCONS:will not remove heavily embedded dirtHINT:This is not a vacuum-cleaner, but a scrubber, so move slowly over the area that needs to be cleaned and use the cleaner boost trigger for especially dirty areas. The picture is of our linoleum floor after the clean (I forgot to take one before). Yes, we removed the air vent covers. The machine has no problem going over the openings and because it sucks up the water, water doesn't pour down the air vents.

Customers say

Customers like the cleaning ability and ease of use of the vacuum cleaner. They mention it truly cleans floors flawlessly and has a trigger you can use for extra cleaning solvent. However, some customers have reported that the head and upright body broke after 10 months of use. They also have issues with leakage. Customers disagree on whether it works well, how well it retains water, and its value for money.
