Title: 5MP Aosu Video Doorbell Works Flawlessly
Review: This is my review of my front door Aosu 5MP video doorbell after nearly 1 year in operation now. It is still working flawlessly.Setup & installation were easy and straightforward. I also love the fact that all my videos are stored and controlled locally on the Wi-Fi base unit memory card and easily accessed for viewing or downloading if desired-- no connection or payment necessary to any cloud service, which I did not want to do. I've never missed a single event or had any dropout of WiFi signal the entire time. The camera images and videos are very crisp, clear and color-correct.I had a small issue in the first month where at certain times on some afternoons (not all), I would get false notifications of someone at my door. I had it set for Humans Only and Automatic Sensitivity. I discovered after a few times that the only common thing about each false-notice video recorded was that it was a breezy afternoon and large moving shadows of my nearby tree branches/leaves were being cast on my front approach walkway within my up-close detection zone.I sent an email to Aosu to ask if something was wrong with my doorbell sensors, or if I needed to change some settings. I received a response the very next day. They asked me to email them one of my false-notice videos where I had described what was happening. A few days later, the Aosu rep replied that after their techs reviewed my video and my stated doorbell settings, they were quite sure it was my "dancing tree branch shadows" on the walkway that were "tricking" the sensors into thinking a moving human figure was present. They recommended I switch to the Manual sensor detection on my app, and reduce the sensitivity by sliding the bar downward for less sensitivity. On my first test, I manually set the sensitivity bar down to the halfway mark. I left it there for a month and had no more false notifications. I then experimented with gradually increasing the sensitivity by sliding the bar upwards a little bit each time and trying for another few weeks. After a few more gradual upward sensitivity adjustments, I found that I could have my sensitivity set at just one notch below maximum and I still did not get any false notices, so that's where I have left it, and still no more false notices now for many months. After nearly a year in operation now, I am extremely pleased with this Aosu video doorbell; and I am very pleased with the quick and helpful responses from the Aosu Representative. I highly recommend this product and the very helpful and quick-responding Aosu support provided.Follow-up, 8-25-2024: After more than 16 months in operation, my Video Doorbell is still working well. I have mine connected to my old doorbell transformer power which provides about 15v AC directly to the doorbell terminals on the back of it. For over a year, it maintained at or near 100% all the time. In the past few months, however, the battery level for this camera shown on the app started indicating a steady 1%-2% drop in battery level about every 2 days or so. I emailed Ann, the customer service representative at Aosu to explain the strange issue. She recommended taking it down and fully recharging it and then put it back up, reconnect to the doorbell power, and then monitor for a few weeks to see if that would solve the problem. I did that, and the battery held at 100% for 3 days, but then suddenly started dropping power again-- 13% drop on the 4th day, and then back to 1%-2% every few days after that. Eventually, after about a month, the power level got down to about 73% and has stayed there for quite a while, but I was not sure if it would continue declining more again later or not. I reported all of this back to Ann at Aosu. She is sending me a new replacement as a backup in case my current one decides to eventually tank. So far, it is still continuing to hold its power level at 70%-73% at all times while being maintained by the low voltage doorbell power. Only time will tell if it will stay at that level, but the doorbell is working perfectly, so I'm happy. And Ann's commitment to providing me a new backup doorbell in case mine does eventually die is the best customer service anyone could ask for. These folks at Aosu really seem to care about their products and their customers. I highly recommend them.

Title: Great with suggested improvements
Review: Update:We've upgraded our rating to 5 stars and bought a second doorbell of this model for our other door. We like this doorbell that much. We've also added Aosu 4 solar security cameras with the separate (not attached to the camera) solar panels, so we're now all in with Aosu. Thank you Amazon for all of the Aosu deals. We saved a bundle. Why the upgraded rating for the doorbell? After fumbling around, we found all of the features in the app that we need to monitor the doors to our house. Video playback is still herky jerky, but we'll live with this trade-off for exceptionally crystal clear video. This doorbell model works very well. We're staying with the wireless option because our 'vintage' house requires more wiring than we care to invest in doorbells. The wireless works well with our mesh router and signal extenders with zero dropouts. We solved the battery drain in several ways. Turn off the blue doorbell light, it sucks power. Don't monitor the area 24/7, that sucks power, too. Doing these two things keeps the doorbells charged to 90-100% for months.HOWEVER, many thanks to Aosu for not hiding the doorbell USB port inside the mounting plates. Access to the USB port when the doorbell is locked in place allows for continuous charging with solar panels and solves the entire battery drain problem permanently. We attached 5W solar panels (available on Amazon) to the doorbells and added long USB male to female cables (also Amazon) to snake around the door frames and up to the solar panels on the roof. The solar panels now keep our doorbells fully charged. This option is something that Aosu could offer for anyone opting for the wireless doorbell version. It means that we can turn back on the doorbell's blue light and monitor 24/7 if we want. But we're already 'trained' in the above ways to conserve the battery, so not going OCD here...lol.We're not fans of the Ring community sharing (private people) and are glad not to be on that particular 'social media'. We're also not cloud fans (hello Crowd Strike?) and totally appreciate local storage, which we manage daily by deleting all videos. Seriously, we don't need to save videos of the mail carrier or package deliveries and clog up the doorbell's storage... :-).Initial Review:First off, thank you to all the reviewers. After futzing around for a year trying to figure out which video doorbell to buy, you guys helped with this decision. No regrets here. Wireless installation was a breeze and works well with our Samsung tablets. The images are crystal clear. We'll most likely hardwire for full-time observation because doing so drains the battery too quickly. Another possibility is a USB solar panel connected to the bottom USB charging port to keep the doorbell fully charged once we figure out the correct solar panel wattage. With the porch light turned on, we turned off the infrared for full color night vision and it's amazing even with our low wattage LED porch light. No porch light? Then you'll need to enable infrared, which also works as it should.Suggested Improvements: The Aosu app interface is kludgy and could be improved. An interface with a drop down set of menus, think any Microsoft Office application, would go a long way to making these products more consumer friendly along with easier to configure and maintain the cameras or some pop-up words to tell the user what an icon does. Because we just ordered the Aosu 4 cam solar security camera set on deal from Amazon, we're kind of dreading its maintenance with the current app interface. We're maintenance minded and like to be able to do things like check the battery life (not on the home card as specified in settings), delete old files (not able to do this with the incorrect directions in the online manual, but finally figured it out with an 'Activities' icon), check the WiFi signal strength easily (have to futz around in settings to find it and its buried in 'About Device') and delete notifications/messages (we don't need to see forever worth of messages and prefer to keep this list shorter or empty on a daily basis). We have a call into customer support because we'd like to be able to define where the Aosu app stores event files. We don't need to fill up our internal tablet storage when we have gigantic SD cards in our tablets just for storing data.Wish list? An app for our desktops - Linux and Windows. Given that the doorbell's hub is already on our network, then a desktop app would be an unbelievable bonus putting Aosu way ahead of everyone else. Because this isn't an NVR, Blue Iris doesn't support these cameras...yet...but we're trying.By tapping our Samsung tablets to the side of our 55" Samsung TV monitors we have the tablet's interface on the big screen. The problem is that it's not a KVM switch, which puts us back to the desktop app wish. Yah, we know, there are Android emulators for the desktops, but they're still not 'there'.All in all, as noted above, we like this doorbell so much that we'll be all in with Aosu security once our security cameras arrive. The single star ding is for the above suggestions for the consumer's experience and not for the hardware which works well.

Title: Great performance, Easy install
Review: Ordered the AOSU 5mp doorbell and AOSU Solar Security Camera Wireless Outdoor System bundle. Both products are well designed and very easy to setup via the AOSU app which guides you through every step. I am impressed with the higher rez video quality of both products and the performance of the easy to use app. No monthly subscription fees since I am using local storage. Fantastic products! I highly recommend.Good email support... when I had a question about wifi connection, Ann at AOSU was quick to respond and answer my question.

Title: Great solution and easy install
Review: I have been looking for a video doorbell for quite some time. After a lot of reading, I chose the AOSU doorbell. There were a couple of reasons. Price was reasonable. Able to install with wifi or hardwired. And, there were no pesky monthly fees required.Setup on my phone was easy and subsequent software updates have only improved the product.I have recommended this to friends and also acquired their security cameras. (separate review).I have waited about 18 months to provide a review because initial performance is only good if it continues. This video doorbell has weathered time and hurricanes and is still working.Cons:It is not as sensitive as the security cameras. The delay in response on the video doorbell camera notification is too long for my taste. There app is great. I would like an option for windows, not just IOS and android.I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to install, capable and dependable video doorbell. They have a great camera, great app and additional storage capabilities thru an optional service (they have storage capabilities that do not require a subscription).

Review: This is now my second doorbell. I had bought one to test out for the back door and it worked really well so bought another one for the front door. The back doorbell is on battery power while the front one is wired into the old house doorbell.Size: It is a lot bigger than your regular doorbell or even the Ring doorbells. If you're looking for something small, slim profile, etc. then this is not the doorbell for you.Battery powered doorbell: Worked surprisingly well considering it was exposed to the elements. It took a couple of months before I had to charge it up again. I live in Alberta, Canada and it weathered well in the March temperatures (dipping down to about -20C. Captured video just fine and clear but there is a lag between you receiving it vs where the person is located.Wire powered doorbell: Installation was fairly easy and integrated with the chimer in the house really easily. The location of the doorbell is on a 90 degree angle so used the plates that were provided to tilt it so it would point more towards the walkway vs just the front door. Again, captured video fine but there is a lag.App: The app worked well but I had to get assistance from customer service to get it linked to the Google Assistant but it wasn't difficult to use. Only wish that the voice chosen could be on a more permanent scale instead of having to remember to pick the voice change before answering the person as currently, it's defaulted to using your own voice when you open the app to answer and not one of the other voices you choose. If you're female and want to use the male voice when answering for safety purposes, you have to remember switch the voice before answering or it will be your own voice that comes through first.Customer Service: AMAZING! I had used all the tilt/angle plates that came with the doorbell but it still wasn't enough (the doorbell is on the side of the house so 90 degrees from the walkway) so I reached out to customer service with a picture of what the doorbell see vs what it should see. They not only responded quickly, they sent me 2 additional plates at no cost and it arrived within a few days. Every time I have reached out to them, they have been very responsive which shows they stand behind the product.Overall impression: Very good doorbell to upgrade to if you want a camera one but don't want to spend the high cost dollars for it. The doorbell is a lot bigger than others but does what it's supposed to do. The cost is decent for what you get but the best part is the customer service. I would give it a 6 star out of 5 for the customer service alone. Would I buy it again? Well... I already bought 2 but I would definitely recommend if people were asking.

Review: I've bought 2 of these devices now and they work brilliantly. The setup is straightforward on the app. Mounting the device is super simple and you're ready to use it within 15-20 minutes. Just set one up for my parents. I find that the battery life is superb, I get about 3-4 weeks between charges. The device looks compact when mounted. The angle mount is really handy too for when you need to angle mount the camera. Picture quality is sharp and the audio lag for when talking to someone is low. The night mode is very clear too. Anytime someone comes close the door bell detects the motion and captures the moment. It also lights up so people are aware when it is monitoring them. This acts as a deterrent. Best thing is that it has its own memory card that records locally to the doorbell. You don't need to pay for a subscription and can download any videos to your phone for future reference. The anti theft alarm triggers if someone manages to remove the device from the door mount and the only way to disable it is from the app. Otherwise it will continuously ring and bring attention to the person who removed it. Solid build quality packaging and accessories. Overall brilliant piece of kit. Really pleased.

Review: We were looking for a video doorbell for a couple years now. We wanted one that was subscription free and also had excellent picture quality. Also on the list was having the option of having it both wired & with a rechargeable battery. This product does all of the above. Also it was very simple to install and connected to our wi-fi effortly. I ordered it and it arrived the next day. It took me able 10 minutes to install and connect. It also has options, such as exactly what area to record, and what to record. It can be set up to record vehicles, or people for example. We have a school across the street so traffic does get busy at times. We set it up to record people and not the traffic, and it works flawlessly. It also connected easily to our Alexa Echo show. For the price, ease of use & installation this is a "must buy". I HIGHLY RECOMMEND both the product and the seller!!!

Review: I purchased my Aosu camera about a year ago, and it’s the best thing I’ve done. It’s free to use, and reliable. Easy to navigate on the app, and camera quality is perfect. Very clear and robust. Battery lasts about a month on average (sometimes less- depending on activity).Issues I’ve faced:The speaker did go distorted, I contacted the customer service team and they replaced with a new one immediately.Sometimes the time captured is off a touch. Hasn’t really bothered me, as 9/10 the captured data is perfect.
