Title: better than the rest
Review: I bought this from Amazon for about $19 incl shipping. It got to me by regular mail 4 days after I placed my order. $19/3 computers = $6.33 per machine for internet security. I previously tested all the major competitor's products in real time for 30 days each. Some passed a lot of malware, some bogged the computer down, some interfered with my e-mail and some allowed viruses to pass. I have run real-time tests with malware scanners and sandboxes on my machines. Of the several products I tested, this one has come closer to a perfect score than the others. My malware scanners come up with zero malware now most of the time and the competing products always passed some each day. This product is the least invasive of any other - meaning it doesn't bother me with pop-ups at all and doesn't slow my computers down. I worry less about malare and viruses now and enjoy my computer time most using this product. It auto-scans each day unnoticed. If I use the scan button, it takes less than 2 min to do a full scan. Add the fact that I got it so cheaply and fast, then I have something to be very happy about. How would I rank the competition? #2 Norton. (it's almost as good), like all the competition the scans take quite awhile. #3 Kaspersky - doesn't bog the machine badly but passes malware. #4 BitDefender - heavy program, does the A-V job effectively, passess malware, uses noticeable computer power. #5 ESET - not a resource-heavy program but I didn't test it as heavily as the rest but it gave me no real problems that I recall. AVG- best of all the free ones. Panda- it passed a Trojan to my machine. IOLO AV, crashes and needs re-install fairly often - I had it for a year. Very weak AV. Trend Micro - About as good as IOLO, maybe slightly better.

Title: GOOD PRODUCT, SOME ISSUES WITH SUPPORT
Review: UPDATE 2/28/2013: I'm updating the review below because the issue was finally rectified. The ease of installation, use, and protection are worth five stars, as is the paltry amount of system resources this application uses in comparison to other programs. However, four stars for not getting the password management right the first time and for wasting my time with multiple email exchanges over the course of weeks to rectify a problem that was ultimately rectified in only a day.Just a suggestion for a feature... I use LastPass on the computer and like how it automatically logs me out after a set amount of time or after I close the browser. That would be nice feature for the WebRoot Browser on Android, just in case I forget to logout and lose the phone. As far as I can see, this isn't a setting that's available currently.ORIGINAL REVIEW 2/27/2013This is the second version of the software that I've purchased and recommended the software to some other friends and family. I will say that it's probably the last version I'll purchase.Pros: The software does seem to use very little system resources, and I don't have any viruses. This doesn't mean that it's prevented any viruses necessarily, but I'm willing to give credit where credit is due.Cons: Customer service. I didn't really have too much to complain about until I tried to use the password manager. For some reason the password manager wouldn't work. Doing my best to avoid wasting my time with a phone call, I headed to the internet to initiate a chat. They don't offer chat support. So I started a support ticket. The thread is below (PAY ATTENTION TO THE DATES):ME: 2/12/2013I've tried a number of things but the password manager on the computer isn't working. On one computer the extension isn't showing up on chrome. It does show up on internet explorer but it says that the email is wrong. However, I'm still able to log in on the webroot website with the username and password. I've uninstalled and reinstalled among other things and can't make it work.WEBROOT: 2/13/2013Hello,We are in the process of making a back end adjustment. We will update you when this adjustment is complete.Thank You,The Webroot Support TeamME: 2/19/2013I really expected the issue to be resolved sooner than this. Since this is an advertised feature of the software, and your software doesn't do what you advertised, are you prepared to issue a refund?WEBROOT: 2/20/2013Hello,Thank you for contacting Webroot Support. We apologize for the problem you are experiencing. In order to help you resolve this issue we would like to set up a call back. We are open from 7:00am-6:00pm MST Monday-Friday. Please provide a phone number and an ideal time to contact you. We look forward to helping you resolve this issue.Thank You,The Webroot Support TeamME: 2/25/2013I really don't want to take the time to troubleshoot this on the phone and waste even more time than I already have trying to make this work. I'm pretty tech savvy and can't manage to make this work. The issue isn't on my end. The account is defaulting to expired license codes. I've tried to remove the license codes but there isn't an option to do that. When I click "Manage My Account online" from inside the software on my computer, I'm taken to my online account management after logging in and the only option is to "Upgrade for Passwords" which is included in the version that I have. When I go to "Manage Keycodes" the new keycode isn't shown, only the expired keycodes. When I add the keycode (REMOVED FOR THIS REVIEW) it says that it's already been registered.I have already registered, in case that's what you're thinking. Then if I logout and log back in, I get a different screen. Following the same steps as above the keycode does show but password management isn't even an option on that page.I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice. I ran CCleaner in between installations. Still not working. Definitely something happening on the backend.WEBROOT: 2/25/2013Hello,Our end is showing that the new keycode has not been added to the account and that is the issue at the moment, it will not let us update the account with the new key because its showing its not been added. Try adding the key again using the steps below.1. Open Webroot SecureAnywhere2. Go to My Account3. Click on "Manage My Account Online"4. Sign into your account5. Click on your email address on the top right corner of your screen and go to "Manage Keycodes"6. Press "Add Product Keycode"7. Type your keycode(REMOVED FOR THIS REVIEW)8. Press "Add"You should now see your account has been updated with your new keycode's information. Let me know once you have tried this. Thanks,Webroot Support TeamSure the response time was okay and there was half an effort to correct the problem with canned responses. Remember, the whole reason I completed the support ticket was because I didn't want to call on the phone. These issues raise some serious questions for me.If the solutions are so simple, why didn't they just fix it for me?How much time am I willing to invest in troubleshooting a $30 piece of software when there are so many others on the market? If they can't make their account management and password software work, how can I trust that the antivirus is going to work when i need it?If their technical support can't take the time to read the question in the email before shooting off a canned response, are they going to be any help should my computer become infected?I can't take that chance. Probably going back to Kaspersky.

Title: Beware buying this disk from other than "Best Buy"
Review: Beware if you buy this disc from third party sellers. The product requires a 20 character keycode to activate. Mine was sent without it and Amazon had no idea how to remedy the situation and the software provider could not remedy and directed me back to the seller. I'd suggest you buy it as a download instead. I was emailed the keycode upon that download purchase. Other than that, the downloaded product works great. I previously used Norton for internet security on my Mac and it slowed everything down. Webroot seems to not have that issue. So I'd recommend the Webroot product as a much better alternative to Norton. I just wouldn't recommend you buy the disc and instead download it online instead.

Title: Beware of early activation with 3rd party vendor!
Review: The product I got was fulfilled by Amazon through a 3rd party vendor. On the case, it said "Activated at purchase. Install immediately." and the product was affiliated with Best Buy. The photo in the listing is different and doesn't have the "Activated at purchase" message and nowhere in the listing does it say that the product may be affiliated with Best Buy.I purchased the product on 4/05, received it on 4/10 and installed it on 4/11. It said that there was 281 days remaining on the subscription, which meant it was activated 84 days ago on 1/16. The Webroot rep advised another reviewer with the same problem to contact Best Buy. I called the Best Buy number listed on the case, it didn't do any good. I got bounced around and was finally informed that I needed to take it up with the 3rd party vendor. I decided that I wasn't going to hassle with it any further and to send it back for a refund. It would be bad enough if the subscription was activated when you purchased it from Amazon, but it's activated when it's purchased by the vendor and who knows how long ago that could've been, which was 84 days ago in my case. I'm not saying that this is the case with all of the 3rd party vendors, but if the item is from a 3rd party vendor, it would be a good idea to contact them and verify whether it's the Best Buy version or not.I have been using Webroot for a long time now. I am currently using the version with anti virus and wanted to upgrade to the Internet Security Plus version. I'm leery now of purchasing it again and ending up with the Best Buy version once more.

Review: Once again, the program works but I feel that there are better choices in that it felt sort of clunky to use. I personally preferred using the paid version of AVG as it has almost the same rating but in my books, is far slicker from a users point of view.
