Title: Excellent price to performance for gig internet service
Review: I'm a "prosumer," so this router might not be for the average person who wants an "easy" plug-and-play setup. But it's not complicated to set up if you know how to get to the web interface and know the difference between a WAN and LAN port.I purchased this router for its multi-gigabit capability, and it does not disappoint. Recently Comcast/Xfinity upgraded us to 1,200Mbps service, but the router and modem we had would only allow us to hit around 700Mbps. We first upgraded our modem and were hitting the same speeds, but bypassing our router with a 2.5 gig wired connection directly to our modem would allow us to hit 1,400Mbps, so I knew our 7-year-old router was holding us back.I did a bunch of research, and there were a few multi-gigfor upwards of $ router options 600 with nice app features, etc., but I could not justify the cost. I did find some people on Reddit in the same predicament, and this router was recommended, and was the cheapest option at $200 at the time of purchase. With this router, I can hit line speed speeds of 1,400Mbps as if I were directly connected to the modem. But there are some essential things to consider if you want to reach these speeds in your network.1. You need a router that your ISP approves for > 1 gig service2. You must have >= 2.5 gig hardware between the router and your computer. That includes your laptop/desktop having a >= 2.5 gig network adapter/card and any switches between being >= 2.5 gig.3. This only has two 2.5 gig ports, so you will need an additional 2.5 gig switch to expand > 1 gig service to your LAN. One port will connect to your modem, and the other port to your 2.5 gig switch to expand your 2.5 gig connections. There's also additional VPN hardware onboard to do site-to-site VPN connections at pretty impressive bandwidth for the price. I have not utilized this yet, but it is an excellent addition for someone who needs to be connected to a corporate network. But this is more advanced and probably unnecessary by the average consumer.Overall, I am super happy with the purchase and am now looking at their Wi-Fi mesh gear to tie it all together with the "Omada" management, which is similar to Ubiquiti's management software that I am probably migrating away from after this purchase.

Title: Works great with Xfinity 1.2gb internet
Review: I was looking for a reasonable priced router to put behind my Nighthawk CM2050v cable modem. The output of the cable modem is 2.5GB. I installed the ER707-M2 and switched my DECOs (x5700s and M9s) to access points to cover my 4 story house with a basement. Replaced my 1GB nic in my desktop with a 2.5GB to verify things are working properly. Install was very straight forward and easy. Updated the firmware in the ER707-M2 and the put the DECOs into access mode. This router is so much better than the onboard DECO router. I have about 50 devices online and no issues. Speed tests on the computer are steady between 1340 and 1400. I am more excited about controlling the router compared to whatever the DECOs were doing. Network storage is so much faster too. While it's only the 1 day of using this router I will update the review if something goes wrong.

Title: Firmware has issues. I do NOT recommend. REVIEW UPDATED
Review: If you have Omada devices on your network, this Router has issues. It will cause your AP's to go into a DISCONNECTED state, which is VERY FRUSTRATING. Best case you reboot the POE devices from your POE recovery switch, Worst Case, you have to get a ladder to reach the AP's to "REBOOT" them, only to have this happen every 24 hours. This is confirmed by several users on the TP-LINK forum (search in google)I do NOT recommend this Router until TP-LINK fixes this issue. (Logs have been sent to TP-LINK)2nd issue, this Router, though it says is supports OpenVPN, it not fully compliant. It is based on pre 2018 OPENVPN standard. In Sept 2018 TLS-CRYPT encryption was used. This device does not support that! Sadly it will not allow you to connect to 99% of the OpenVPN devices. So I'm back to using my old OpenWRT with luci to connect to my work OpenVPN.This router could have been so GREAT... But TP-LINK needs to update the firmware to fix the issues. I feel it was rushed to market too quickly.

Title: What a great router for our little business network!
Review: We've used this router now since January, it's very quick, has complete configurability for my needs and more. I've now added a cellular backup, and Xandrex from TP-Link business support understood the problem I was having and had a solution in about 30 seconds which is now working perfectly. TP-Link takes support more seriously than others, especially those guys that end in -GEAR, and they do it better with friendlier people. As our network grows and I upgrade, I'm sticking with TP Link!

Title: Hardware is great for the price. Web based user interface needs work on the usability
Review: Setting up one of these routers can be complicated but once configured, it works well. I use it for a small business configuration which normally has 150 users and it interfaces to an Comcast Business Gateway and an AT&T Fibre Optic connection. The load balancing between the gateways works smoothly and the failover when one service goes out temporarily works so will that users never know it has happened. Both services provide 500mbs bandwidth. The Web based user interface needs a review by an expert in user interface deign. The biggest issue is that functions are hidden deep down the navigation structure and are often located in the last place you would think about looking for them.Final note: coaxing the AT&T gateway to interface to any secondary router can be complicated. If you need to use this device with an AT&T gateway, do a search for "How to interface an ATT gateway to an internal router." With a Comcast gateway all you have to do is set it to bridge mode.

Title: Absolute worst router I have ever owned
Review: I cannot get this router to load the basic web page to even see if the router. It just sits and spins like itâs trying to load. The only way I can get in is if I attach internet to the router from the modem. Then none of the computers will see it and none of the settings save or stay. I have set up many a router in my time as an IT professional and this is the absolute worst I have ever used. A quick trip to Walmart and I had internet set up and didnât need to have an internet connection to do initial setup.

Review: I initially got the ER605, thought it was enough for my use but when I returned it and decided to go for the ER707-M2 I saw a huge difference with data performance and routing. I know it is double the price but I got my moneyâs worth with this device. Highly recommended. Still giving it a 5 stars but how I wish they could have had a 2.5GB Sfp+ port so I plug a dac or a fiber sfp+ that will run a 2.5gb

Review: You cannot change the first network without causing a user reset (the router web interface will be exposed on the first network address of the new network, but your admin credentials will no longer work). If you accept that the router will have its first network fixed on the 192.168.0.0/24 range, it works well enough most of the time, but occasionally (admittedly weeks in between, but still) it will hang and you will lose wan (ie, the internet) connectivity and potentially between your vlans (have run running a cephfs client or anything that demands substained stable connectivity betweem vlans on that). This is apparently a software failure and rebooting the router will fix the problem, which is in some ways worse. I can accept that a router will fail in the advent of an hardware failure, but if it is running as intended, I expect it to perform the one specialized functionality I bought this piece of network equipment for dependably... it doesn't.

Review: I initially had trouble adopting it into my self-hosted controller on a VPS. I updated the firmware and it was smooth sailing from there. Otherwise, the listing title is incorrect. The controller is not embedded in this and I ended up using my usual cloud controller. You can confirm for yourself on the manufacturer's website.
