Title: The Ventures CD
Review: The Ventures is the coolest rock & roll band that ever existed. In 2008, they were finally added to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Ventures' surf rock cover of Johnny Smith's 1954 jazzy song Walk, Don't Run put them on the map. Walk, Don't Run '64 has a Dick Dale influence to it and it lacks "pep". There are a lot of good songs on this CD; the sound quality feels like "mono recordings". As a bonus, there's radio interviews with the band and radio spots hyping their new albums at the time("Twist Party"). Slaughter on Tenth Street, Lolita Ya Ya and Dick Tracy are my personal favorites. If you love classic rock, give this CD a spin.

Title: Run, don't walk to get this one!
Review: If you're interested in a single-disc compilation of The Ventures, then this is the one to buy. The remastered sound is superior, and like other CDs in the EMI 'Legendary Series', you get a little studio patter and count-offs with some of the tracks. The bonus promotional tracks from back-in-the-day are nice adds too.

Title: CD case in bad shape
Review: The CD plays perfectly but it arrived with the jewel case cracked and with one hinge broken.

Title: Surfs up!
Review: The CD is cool. Its worth the money and the songs sound great. The problem is that after about ten songs, it sounds like your hearing the same thing over and over again. Its one of the risks you take when you don't have lyrics in any of the songs. These guys are legends and it is amazing how they crafted all this great music. I recommend you hit the shuffle button in you car and mix this in with other CDs.

Title: Great collection by a great band.
Review: This CD is a great collection. They are a great group and this collects some of their best work. More than enough great music to fulfill your Ventures fix.

Title: GREAT EARLY INSTRUMENTAL ROCK!
Review: What can I say? I love this stuff! I started playing guitar using the Ventures charts and Learn To Play Albums! Just had to have it and I still play them myself just to stay sharp. Sometimes it's the simplest tunes that set off the need to write and play. The Ventures You Tube vids are great as well.

Title: If you owned just two Ventures CDs ...
Review: I'm beginning to think that if you only owned two Ventures CDs, this one, "Walk Don't Run," and "Live In Japan '65" would be the ones to get. The former has the studio hits -- and many of them -- and the latter has something closer to raw energy. What more could you want?

Title: Another Best Of
Review: For some artists it is relatively easy to list a best of collection but not so The Ventures. Don't get me wrong this is an excellent album and is well worth a look but I am not sure it is a better "best of" than a few of their other "best of" albums.

Review: The Ventures effectively invented surf music with their first shot 'Walk Don't Run' and inspired thousands of twangy guitar groups in the early 60s, much as the far more anodyne Shadows did in the UK at the same time. Whilst they stuck to what they were good at, which they did long after it fell out of fashion, no-one could touch The Ventures but unfortunately they tried to 'get hip' in the late 60s, with disastrous results (they could make even Nehru jackets look square), and since then they've spent the last 40 years churning out MOR covers. Fortunately this excellent CD concentrates on their rocking 60s sides and it only loses a star because the last 10 minutes are wasted on a soporific interview and some unintentionally-hilarious radio adverts - space that could have been used for an extra 3 or 4 tracks.
