Title: Great for camping and family events
Review: I've got a pretty big firearm event coming up in January in Nevada. We will be in the middle of the desert with little to no cell service. The event should comprise at least a thousand people, and I have a team of six that will need to be all over the 500 acre area. These should help us keep in touch with one another with some reliability. I got all them charged and took half of them for a drive about a mile from the house. Left the other 3 at home. Once I got some distance between us, we gave them a sound check...it was a bit garbled, so we took them into 3/4 of a mile. BOOM. Started working with no problem. Now, Im in NC and we've got full foliage on the trees and the terrain here isn't flat, so I can only imagine that when I have these in Nevada, in the desert, with zero obstructions, I should be able to get at least a mile out of them without issue. They are built rugged enough for moderate use and seem pretty durable. Not going to abuse them, so I don't foresee any problems. These will make camping trips a lot more fun and give everyone more reason to leave the frigging cell phones in the car.

Title: Hit or miss reception but clear sound
Review: These radios are actually pretty decent. I go off roading pretty frequently and these work well in the mountains on the trails. The ranges that are listed in the description are a bit off from what I've noticed. Within a neighborhood, it's listed as 1.5 miles but it truly depends on your landscape. It could accurately be anywhere from 1/4 mile to 3/4 mile in reality. I assume this is due to a lot of interference. I've also noticed that while on public roads, any EMS vehicles, other vehicles with radios, etc. there is tons of interference as well and will pick up all sorts of traffic.The battery does last a long time on standby. I love that the charging cords that come with have multiple ports attached instead of 6 individual chargers.

Title: Battery life over a week, range ~1M, easy for 85 year-old mother in-law to use as intercom
Review: We acquired these for use on a cruise ship as we typically take a cruise every year. But, their surprise real value is proving to be as an intercom.My wife's 85 year-old mother lives with us in a different wing of the house. The walkie talkie is easy for her to use and more convenient than a cell phone call with instant connect and ability to speak.As a walkie talkie, most impressive about these is the long standby battery life. We can leave them on over a couple of weeks with charge remaining.Range is about 1 mile. Some reviews have mentioned up 2 miles, but we never get anywhere near that even in good conditions.Price is great at the time of this review at $89.99 or $15 each.

Title: They sound decent, and transmit over a mile. Great for family camping
Review: The Topsung walkie talkies were great on camping trip with my kids with no phone service. As we had 6 units, we had extra for our friend's kids. They were a great way for all of us to stay connected and not worrying about them playing in the woods. The walkie talkies were never out of range. Even when around a mile away and at the top of a mountain, they still worked, albeit with some static.At first we couldn't get them to work, but then changed all to channel 5 and "OF" and finally they did. I just wanted basic communication and not detailed CTCSS and DCS Privacy channel setups, VOX and other more advanced stuff. I think most people just want good, long distance basic communication at this price point, so it would better if they were set that way from the start. (Mine were set on different channels and different Privacy sub channels out of the box). Everything seems to work fine. They are a bit plasticky and lightweight but tested and worked well, loud over 200 feet away.There is no cradle to charge these -- you can charge 3 at a time using the included triple-end USB plug. However they do have the metal leads underneath so they can be charged on a cradle-charger purchased separately. Instructions doesn't mention that. The instructions also don't mention how to mount the included wrist-straps. The only place they could mount is the hole on the belt-clip -- but that also then pulls the release button on the belt clip and releases the belt clip and wrist strap if pulled hard enough! So that is a really dumb, self-defeating design.These Topsung Walkie Talkies work fine for the price however.... They are a bit plasticky but then do have all the pro model privacy code features and can transmit / receive from far away.
