Title: It works!
Review: I purchased this hose reel to replace a previous one I have had for over 10 years and had started to leak a little. I really like this reel for the following reasons: 1) it is relatively compact and easily attaches to an outside wall; 2) the reel makes it easy to extend and then wind the hose back up and accommodates the amount of hose that I need for my purposes: 3) It is easy to take off the wall and store in the basement for the winter. One issue I had with the original reel was that the plastic water feed on reel cracked and started to leak but I was able to patch it. I looked at several options but decided to go with this one since my experience had been mostly positive.

Review: Hose reel is made very sturdy not flimsy like some others we have seen; however, it arrived with a defective part. The water could not get through to the hose. Called the company's customer service and they were very helpful and friendly. Received the replacement part free of charge in a couple days. Hose reel is working great.

Title: Good value if you want to try having a hose reel + excellent warranty
Review: UPDATE JUNE 4 2020:Have used this reel continuously since purchasing it in May 2017. A few days before the 3-year warrantee expired, the plastic elbow where the garden hose connects developed a pinhole leak. I notified Suncast on their web site, emailed a photo of the problem and purchase documentation they requested, and received a free replacement of the entire assembly yesterday. Replaced the parts in 15 minutes and this reel once again works like new. They even enclosed a silicone lubricant pack to protect the O-rings and help maintain a watertight seal when the reel rotates.Considering the average annual cost of less than $10 for this Suncast product so far, I’ll probably buy another one when this one can no longer be repaired economically. Kudos to Suncast for having Customer Service reps that back up their warranty.ORIGINAL REVIEW 2017:This is an inexpensive hose reel, all made of plastic, so you can try the idea out and see if you like it. You do need to mount it and attach the hose ends with care: if you stress the plastic or cross thread it, it will break.I followed the instructions to a T and have had no problems in the past month. It doesn't leak at all, the reel is easy enough to wind up that the lack of any bearings isn't an issue, and it keeps the hose off the ground and neatly organized. I expect to get a couple of years out of this item and by then I'll know if it's worth it to me to pay 5-10 times as much for a metal version with bearings, hose guide, etc.Like many others, I can only get about 50 feet worth of mid-quality hose on the reel, but that's all I need. The only way I can see to get 100 feet would be to buy the cheapest, smallest diameter hose you can find.

Title: LEAKS, LEAKS, LEAKS!!!!!
Review: I hate, Hate, HATE this product.I have owned at least six of them, I keep hoping to get ONE that doesn't malfunction in a major way.The design is stupid, every part of the assembly process is more difficult than it needs to be, because of the design of the part that mounts on the wall. I have a full shop, with every tool imaginable, and the only tool I can use to tighten the hose is a slip channel pliers, the size of the part requires large pliers, and the design only allows tightening by 1/8" before you have to reset the pliers and tighten another 1/8". A better design could easily solve this. The second problem is the inner short black hose. It should have a retaining clamp to keep it from kinking immediately after it bends 90 degees to exit the mount. A rigid plastic sleeve would easily solve this, but they cheap out the materials, so the hose crimps right out of the mount, which cuts the water pressure at the hose end by 75%. The worst part is that no matter how you grease the o rings, or tighten the hose ends on the mount or the reel, it leaks terribly. Water sprays out from the hose/mount connection, and this has been a problem with every one of these horribly designed units. I keep replacing with the same one hoping to get a functional non leaking one because I already drilled the masonry to attach the mount to our stucco wall and didn't want to start with a new brand with a different hole pattern. It's my own fault, like Einstein said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." JUNK!!! Don't waste your $$$

Title: Cheap, flimsy, and will not hold 100 ft of hose, but works
Review: Needed a hose reel for a residential marine application, so no rustable metal. This one is all plastic, but given that, it is pretty flimsy when rolling up the hose. Don't try to to roll it up with the weight of the hose on the ground--pull the hose up to the reel as your roll it up. "Tools required" shows a philips screw driver--the provided screws have a slot and hex head. Realistically, you need a power nut driver, and maybe a drill if you need to pre-drill. (I used my own stainless steel screws so did not matter to me.) Finally, my 5/8 50 ft hose filled the reel, so no way it will hold 100ft of the common size 5/8 hose. Installation was very easy.

Review: I bought this on sale so it was about $30, which I thought was a really great deal since the listing says it includes a 100ft hose. Upon opening and inspecting the packaging, it did not include the hose and with further investigation, the box itself says the hose is not included. Checking other reviews it seems that others did receive a hose since most of them have a similar-looking hose as the pictures. Currently contemplating whether to keep or return it since other reviews say that it's not that good quality anyway.EDIT:It actually works very well! Make sure to tighten the hose very well where it meets with the black L shaped tube as to prevent leaks. As for if it holds 100ft, it probably could hold that much but that depends on how you reel the hose itself and where you installed the reel. I installed it on a brick wall and it it mostly feels sturdy and secure. I don’t think my hose is 100ft but it fits and looks nice.

Review: Works as intended, is straight forward to mount.My only dislike is the included 3-foot leader hose, which is very soft and kinks where it needs to form a 90 degree bend behind the reel mount.I had to cut a length of my quality rubber hose and buy two female hose connectors to improvise my own leader hose and to terminate the end of the cut hose.

Review: Owned the original Suncast reel for approx 10 years and it worked great. It wore out and replaced it with with what appeared to be the same model.........not.......the flimsy hose that came with it kinked because the bend required should have a 90 degree fitting, the parts snap together and have no screws to hold everything secure like the original, and once I managed to get the reel mounted to the base the fitting with the "O" rings leaked like a burst pipe!!!!! I mounted it on my brick wall and had to buy a concrete drill bit and plastic plugs to screw into and am now out of pocket that money and have holes in my brick!!!!! This item should be removed from being offered for sale!
