Title: Excellent as expected.
Review: I love hearing from Jane and Michael on the splendid table. I have wanted this book for years and I'm glad I finally got around to ordering it. The sections are broken down by region and the table of contents gives listings by state. Easy to find locations and true to the heart reviews. My first objective was to go through and locate the places I have already personally been and verify the reviews. They are absolutely on the mark with what I would say. I am going to test out many more locations on a summer road trip with my wife and kids but I think it will not be disappointed. Also, each region has a map of locations to plan your adventures.

Title: Once more on the road
Review: The Sterns have once again come out with a book on the great local places to eat in America. They say they have edited and added 200 new eateries. There are the new places, but I found several examples of previous favorites that I have visited recently and they are still up to their old high food standards, but for some reason they were dropped from this edition - one presumes to make room for new places. As for the claim that it is bigger, it is actually 4 pages shorter than the previous guide.Previously I have been extremely enthusiastic about these books, however I guess I was spoiled by the layout and quality of the Sterns' `500 places to Eat Before it's Too Late' in which the sections were clearly divided and easy to find. The restaurants in this book are divided into regions and sometime as you are traveling it's confusing to try to guess where a state is considered...deep south or mid south, etc. The index also would be much easier to use if it was divided into states alphabetically instead of having to page back and forth to see what region you are in. In the old edition - at least in the index, restaurants were listed by town under the state, now they are alphabetical, which does not seem to work as well when you are in or near a town looking for a different place to eat. These are still great road guides, especially if you are not constantly searching on a lap top as you travel. It's also still a great gift to give someone who will be traveling in order to find some casual non-chain real Americana food.

Title: Great Traveling Companion
Review: I love going to non-chain restaurants while traveling, and this book lists good ones in every state. Sometimes, I have to go a little out of my way to get to them, but it's always worthwhile and adds to the adventure. I have 3G with my Kindle, so I always have access to the book in the car. Highly recommended.

Title: Deep in some states
Review: I found this book spotty at best. Some states were very well covered, but others were pretty vague. Also, I understand that a lot of roadside food is not healthy, but how many kinds of barbecue do you really need to hear about in Memphis? The one place I knew of near my house has very disgusting greasy food and I would never return there. It seems that this may be the food taste of the reviewers.

Title: Maps are Non-Readable on Kindle Android App
Review: I was initially excited about this Kindle edition for my tablet. It looks like a great book for a road trip, and with the included maps, one could plan out lunch or dinner in advance. Of course, I assumed that Random House had created a sufficiently large size map to work on the Kindle, and so purchased and downloaded.Problem is that the original printed map size does not work in a tablet, and therefore, one must read through multiple-state descriptions, then check a real map for each location. I tried enlarging the map and even using a magnifying lens, but the electronic edition of Roadfood remained unreadable.Without readable maps, the electronic version is virtually useless to take on trips, and that's a shame for a great publication.Like a previous reviewer, I truly wished I had bypassed the Kindle edition for the print version, but not about to pay twice to get a readable copy.I have purchased 54 Kindle eBooks thus far, and all have been great buys until this purchase. Roadfood leaves a $13 question of whatever happened to quality control.

Title: My mouth is watering
Review: Overheard a couple raving about this book when we were dining out on a recent road trip. My husband and I are both retired and we love to travel --- AND we love to EAT! What better way to plan a trip than around our favorite things? This book has everything you need to know about where to go and what to order. Can't wait for the next road trip to try out some of their suggestions.

Title: great information
Review: I found the info to be accurate on several places I know off . That helps me to trust that their other reviews are just as honest. Easy to understand, info well organized. Felt like I was taking a road trip with them and enjoying the adventure. Thanks, Janet

Title: useful
Review: Drove cross country with a friend and this book was very useful in giving suggestions as to where to stop. Broken up by state and region, the book was organized and well set up. The number of venues were more often concentrated around mid-size cities, and there were a few states that were lacking. However, after traveling through thoes states, I can see why they couldn't find many places to recognize.

Review: We were travelling from Phoenix to San Francisco but most of the resturants in the book are located in cities not along the roads which I thought missed the whole point of the title!!! So very disappointed.
