Title: If you love the show, you’ll love the book! Season 7.
Review: The book corresponds to Season 7 - 2016 in the UK. It hasn’t even aired here in the US yet, so I’m excited to give the recipes a whirl while I wait! The bakers are Andrew, Benjamina, Candice, Jane, Kate, Lee, Louise, Michael, Rav, Selasi, Tom, and Val.The book is broken into the following chapters: Cakes, Biscuits & Teatime Treats, Breads, Desserts & Puddings, Sweet Pastry & Patisserie, and Savoury Bakes. If you haven’t tried one of their books before, you’re in for a treat! Their instructions are detailed and flawless, allowing you to recreate what you see on the show. If you’re in the US, the measurements are in grams, so if you've got a kitchen scale that you can select grams on, you'll be good to go. There are some terms that you'll need the American translation for. Muscavado sugar is brown sugar. Caster sugar is superfine granulated sugar. Bicarbonate of soda is baking soda. Strong white flour is bread flour. Some recipes I have flagged to try are Greek Lemon-Yoghurt Loaf Cake (might be one the kids can do!), Bitter Chocolate Stout Cake, Little Pink Rose Cakes (on the cover), Tiramisu Cake, Linzer Sables, Fresh Herb Fougasse, Cardamom Pear Plait, Pecan and Maple Pinwheels, Chocolate-Hazelnut Rouchers, Pistachio and White Chocolate Churros, Pistachio Chocolate Baklava, Lemon and Lemon Confit Tart, Roast Vegetable and Cashew Tart, and Lobster and Gruyere Tartlets.Pictured below:1) The first thing I made was the Roasted Garlic Herb Twist. It’s divine. It’s filled with roasted garlic, herbs, and gorgonzola. It takes about 2 ½ hours, but 2 ¼ of those are rising and baking. It’s very easy, despite how neat it looks.2) Walnut-Coffee Sponge Roll. Wow! I love this recipe. Lots of steps, but they're all easy. It's just as yummy as it is pretty!3) Bhaa Bara Brith Biscuits - p105. Wonderful! They're flavored with tea, orange liqueur, citrus, dried fruit, and spices.I can’t wait to try out the rest!

Title: GBBO 2016
Review: Thorough book with great recipes. A fun read. I wish the recipes stated the baker who's recipe was included. It's vague - Judge's recipe, baker recipe. The shipping was terrible but my book arrived in good shape. The book was put in an oversized box (not wrapped in paper and no paper used to stuff all the dead space in the book. The box was poorly taped as well.

Title: Great book but arrived damaged.
Review: The book is just what I was looking for. Lots of recipes from the show with a bunch that are just tasty looking. There is a lot of good info for baking basics and some content about the bakers from the show. This is based on a British show which does mean metric measurements. You can get a decent low-cost scale, I find multiple uses for mine and you get a much more true measurement than traditional American cups anyway. Only reason there aren't 5 stars is because my book arrived damaged. Not terribly badly but looks like the bottom of the spine got smushed. It doesn't look like it's going to make the book fall apart but I don't like paying brand new price for damaged things. Overall, I definitely recommend this if you're looking to play in the kitchen.

Title: Great recipes.
Review: I have already been through this cookbook and marked a lot of the recipes that I want to try. Made the Boule bread. If you make this use regular bread flour and it will turn out great. After the refrigerator rise (I leave in the fridge for at least 8 hours) DO NOT KNEAD! JUST FOLD IT OVER ABOUT 4 TIMES AND SHAPE INTO A BALL FOR THE FINAL RISE OF ABOUT 2 AND A HALF HOURS. Then bake. Wonderful flavor and great for dipping into olive oil with Italian spices plus some garlic, salt and pepper.

Title: A Fun Read
Review: This book is as pretty to look at and as charming to read as I had hoped. It is also as difficult to use as I had expected. Be prepared to spend a good deal of time hunting the ingredients down (stem ginger, anyone?), or just forging ahead and hoping for the best (what is "mixed spice"?). I live in a large, foodie-oriented city, and just gathering the ingredients for a ginger cake and spelt muffins took real effort. The two recipes I made were disappointing; maybe the Brits just like dry cake and dusty muffins! Regardless, this is a fun book to have if not to use.

Title: Super
Review: I’m enjoying this book. There are great pictures but the ingredients have to be converted to US measure’s. This being said there is a chart at the back of the book but I would suggest changing the measurements before starting to make a recipe easier to make so you are not flipping back and forth.

Review: So its Bake Off time again and again we have the tie in book. So is it any different this year? Are the recipes any good? Who is going to win? Ok I don't know the answer to the last question, the book however is a bit more of an attempt at a tie in this time and has changed in its format subtly. The book itself is split into six sections with a section ahead of these which I'll explain in a minute. The sections are :-CakesBiscuits & Teatime TreatsBreadsDesserts & PuddingsSweet Pastry & PatisserieSavoury BakesThe recipe are the same as previous years, easy to follow and always accompanied by a picture. Some of the recipes just make you want to start baking instantly. In the cakes section you have things like Fresh Mango Cake, Jaffa Cakes (a Judge's recipe), Lemon and Poppyseed Drizzle Cake (a contestants recipe) and many more. It never tells you who the baker is if its a contestant. Biscuits and Teatime Treats is a short section that includes Lemon-Glazed Lemon and Poppyseed Muffins, Rum and Raisin Brownies, Bhaa Bara Brith Biscuits (A bakers recipe that looks like sheep) and others. Bread is a much larger section with a Fresh Herb Fougasse (Judge's recipe), Cardamom Pear Plait (which looks so yummy) and others. Desserts & Puddings includes Banana Split Ice Cream-Cake, Marjolaine (Judge's recipe and I pity the bakers as it looks a challenge with all the steps) and Maple Syrup Creme Caramel. Sweet Pastry and Patisserie is again a large section and it contains Mil Hojas (like a Spanish Millefeuille, Gateau St-Honore. Savoury Bakes include a very scrummy looking Filled Yorkshire Pudding, Duck and Pistachio Pate En Croute and a few others. The recipes are easy to follow and should be a great source of inspiration. The front section is the innovation this year. It has a section with a brief bio of each contestant/baker. Baking Tips, these are guides as to what Fold, Skewer Test and other terms and techniques actually are. When they are referenced in any of the recipes an asterisk is next to it to guide you back to this section to see what they mean - useful for a novice and more experienced baker. There is also a section of basic recipes. These are the ones that are used multiple times like Creme Chantilly, Vanilla Egg Custard, Puff Pastry etc.If you have one of these books before there are no surprises except the first section which seems a useful innovation. Not having the final recipes is a loss compared to the first series. Overall though its a great source of ideas, attractive, easy to follow and its got enough recipes that make it good value.

Customers say
