Never throw out your leftovers again with these delicious and healthy meals designed to transform into an entirely different dish the next night from best-selling author Cassy Joy Garcia.
As a busy mom of two, Cassy Joy Garcia, the best-selling author of Cook Once, Eat All Week, has limited time to get food on the table. With this book, she shares a fresh approach to preparing dinner in a hurry. These 120 easy, delicious recipes are designed to use the leftovers from one recipe to quickly cook a completely different meal the next day.
While most meal-prep cookbooks require you to plan your entire week ahead of time and spend hours in the kitchen (and a small fortune on groceries), Cook Once Dinner Fix shows you how to utilize the leftovers from one meal to create an entirely new creation for the next. The leftover Roasted Garlic Turkey Breast transforms into Spiced Turkey Potato Soup, and Dry-Rubbed Barbecue Brisket becomes crowd-pleasing Cheesesteak-Stuffed Peppers. No matter your favorite flavor profile or dietary restrictions, this book is packed with recipes the whole family will enjoy.
The Cook Once Dinner Fix solves the “what’s for dinner” question without requiring enormous amounts of time, energy, skill, or money. Now dinnertime can be fun, fast, affordable, and sustainable.

Title: Healthy, Tasty, Practical Cook Book For Families!
Review: I pre ordered your latest cook book before it came out last year. When I received it when it first came out I was so excited! Having tasty yet practical meals at my fingertips that are also healthy is so amazing. I love that theyâre not complicated and using the meat for the next day makes such a huge difference! I also love that I donât need to buy 20 different spices for one recipe that Iâll only ever use once. And love the tips for tweaks if needed. So for years weâve been in this routine of what should we make today? And it would be 5:30 so weâd make something frozen or processed or rely on fast food and weâve been stuck in that rut for years. Everyone eating something different and never at the same time. Iâve always felt self conscious weâre not making and eating meals together like ânormalâ families do (those donât exist and I know it now). You know you order too much take out when you start to make real recipes with real food and one of your kids asks âdid you order that?â Ha!But hereâs the most exciting change itâs brought to our house, and why I wanted to share with you: I was abandoned as a child and was never taught how to cook. So aside from being an impatient person (I donât want to cook a long tiring meal when itâs going to be consumed in 5 minutes) and a terrible cook, I also hated cooking because I didnât know what I was doing. Weâve tried meal planning before but I always get overwhelmed at how long recipes are and how much I donât know how to do so I would just scrap it. But this book has transformed our meal time. My husband and I made it a goal for 2022 to be eating dinner daily, at the kitchen table, together with our kids, having a home made meal. So I finally cracked open your book that had been siting for a few months. Chose a weekâs with worth of recipes and wrote them out on a meal planning sheet (similar to your tear off one. Those are also a huge help!) This last week was our first week doing this and Iâm so happy to tell you: it was a HUGE success! Not only did we make every single meal that we planned for, but we used every single thing we bought and no food went to waste (a first!) and we didnât eat out the whole week. There was food left over for the next day and also some for hubby to take (heâs a deputy so a good meal is very needed when heâs working doubles).Hereâs the most amazing thing: I have 3 girls, ages 11, 9 and 6. My oldest has always had issues with food (not the normal picky eating). When my hubby and I made the decision to follow your book, we also made that decision because the list of preferred foods for my oldest was dwindling and we were getting concerned for her health. We were ready and at the point of enlisting professional help and having an eating disorder diagnosed. There has always been so much anxiety around food to the point where if we were going anywhere sheâd ask what food was going to be there. So we sat her down to talked one on one and told her that we donât fault her for her relationship with food- everyone has something they struggle with and have little to no control over and hers just happens to be food. We also confessed that the fact that hubby and I have not been good food/nutrition examples for her, that likely has had an impact as well. We have not modeled healthy eating or preparing our own food or sitting at the table to eat together, and thatâs on us. We canât expect her to try new things when weâre making the same poor choices over and over every week. And we also felt it wasnât fair to jump from not talking to her directly about this to just getting help. We wanted to give her a chance to talk about it and try something before just jumping into help- we didnât want her to feel attacked. So we made a deal with her- we told her our concern for her health and how weâre worried things might get worse if we donât do something soon. We told her weâd seek help in two months if nothing changed, always reminding her sheâs not at fault and thereâs nothing wrong with needing help. In exchange for waiting for two months, we asked her to agree to try some food from the recipes from your book. We told her weâd still prepare something for her thatâs a preferred food so she wouldnât go hungry and she could still have something to rely on, but that she would need to try one single bite from each new meal. And we would not pressure her, make her feel bad, stare at her while she takes a bite. We took all pressure off. And let me tell you something that hasnât happened in the 11 years of her life: she tried several new recipes. Not only did she try them, but she even LIKED a few of them! And more than that, you can tell that she is happy and more confident because sheâs tried new things. We make it a point to talk about our days, etc and not stare while she eats to take all pressure off. Sheâs had a smile on her face after meal times and is less afraid to try new things- she knows itâs ok if she doesnât like them but that it wonât hurt her if she does try them. That confidence and that smile- I have to admit I cried happy tears at the first meal. I could not hold it back and Iâve told her several times how proud I am of her.I have been so happy the past week because of that, but also because all 5 of us are sitting down together with a meal and talking together and having a tasty, easy to pull together meal with zero pressure and all are enjoying each otherâs company. My other two daughters are loving the meals as well and my heart is soaring when they rave about the meals, say how much they loved dinner, come home from school to smell the meat cooking and say âIt smells so good in here!â and get excited to hear whatâs cooking for dinner. Also that theyâre getting good nutrition (a change we all desperately needed), theyâre being exposed to new things and also seeing the example of eating together as a family and the importance of that. Iâve been so happy every day, a weight is lifted off my shoulders, I finally feel like Iâve conquered this scary giant that Iâve so badly wanted to conquer for many years but has been so hard while not only raising kids and both of us working, but having it also be wrapped in hurtful, sad childhood trauma of my own.So I wanted to tell you thank you, thank you, thank you, and thought the best compliment I could give to you is to share our story. Iâve even noticed my 11 year old pick up the recipe book and look at it several times during the week as sheâs interested in whatâs in it now.Thank you for breathing life and nutrition and new adventures into our household. Keep doing the great work youâre doing- youâre changing families for the better because of it.

Title: This book is exactly what I needed!
Review: After going through a really tough time (pandemic etc) I know Iâm not the only one that lost their desire to cook. But today when I got this cookbook in the mail I did a happy dance in my kitchen. It is wonderful! I have been looking forward to this cookbook since I pre-ordered it and let me just say, it delivers! The book itself and photography is gorgeous with easy to follow directions and dinner series divided up by protein (or vegetarian). So many amazing recipes and lots of options to tweak recipes to accommodate many diets (we are gluten free). I have followed Fed and Fitâs online cooking segments/stories and the recipes are always a hit in my house. I like to meal prep lunch and dinner on the weekend for my son and I. These meals are not only healthy and delicious but they are money saving because you are able to basically stretch the main ingredient/component and make two completely different meals. We are on a tight food budget and this book is a game changer! I loved her last cookbook as well, if you donât follow Fed and Fit on social media or her website, I canât recommend her recipes enough.

Title: Real food, Real good, Really good for you
Review: We love this book and will cook from it often!! It's a nice change of pace to prep for a few meals at a time instead of an entire week or an entire month. The food is flavorful (in a familiar way) and doesn't fall victim to being too bland or way too spicy for my kids.I'd say the cooking intensity is moderately easy. You're going to feel like you're cooking with chopping or shredding veggies, but it's not very intense. The prep times are accurate for a seasoned, but slower, cook.My children picked out the first two dinner series we've cooked; Dinner Series 25 (Herb Crusted Beef Roast/Beef Stroganoff) and Dinner Series 46 (Teriyaki Salmon Bake/Salmon Burgers). The Beef Roast was very good in both flavor and texture; I wouldn't hesitate to serve this meal to familiar guests. We did cook it longer than stated because we're not fans of rare meat. The stroganoff sauce was a bit thin which may have been an 'us' thing - we tend to have that issue no matter what we're cooking. The flavor, though, was excellent. My kids gobbled up both meals. The Teriyaki salmon will be on our regular rotation - it was so simple and delicious. We used San-J teriyaki sauce to be less sweet and gluten free. My kids loved this one. The salmon burgers had a lot of flavor and were mouth-wateringly good. One of my kids wasn't a big fan, the pickiest one ate it up.I highly recommend this book. I have so many cookbooks of varying shades of the real food / paleo variety. This one is very clearly in the top two (and I think it's going to end up being the top *one*).

Title: Delicious but not as expected
Review: 1. Thereâs no garlic in the Lemon-Garlic Orzo? Was this book not proofed very well?2. I found her other book, Cook Once Eat All Week, to be a LIFE saver when it came to meal prep and planning. That book clearly led you step by step through meal prep day and easily helped me put together Delicious and healthy meals on a busy schedule. This new book steps away from that a bit and gives you only two recipes to make side by side and leaves me looking back and forth to prep for grocery planning and prep day for them. This book creates more work than I was hoping. Iâve since switched to just flipping through it for 1 recipe at a time for inspiration.3. Still impressed with most of the recipes and they give me great inspiration. I also appreciate the low carb, paleo, and gluten free etc. meal substitutions.

Review: I loved the idea of this book as this is how I cook often - making extra of something to go in another dish later in the week. But the recipes are just so uninspiring, there were maybe 3 things that I thought ok yeah that sounds like an interesting idea. But I haven't made anything out of here yet. There are better cookbooks out there doing a riff on this theme, for me this was a waste of money
