Three Dazzling, Widely-Acclaimed Stories from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Goldberg in One Thrilling Collection.
In "Jack Webb's Star," a struggling reporter comes up with a bizarre scheme in a desperate attempt to reinvigorate his love life. In "Remaindered", a once-famous novelist embarks on a self-financed book tour through middle America to save his career...and discovers a novel way to die. And in "Bumsicle," a homeless woman freezes to death, unlocking troubling memories for a weary cop and a powerful Chief of Police.
PRAISE FOR THE STORIES IN THREE WAYS TO DIE
"Lee Goldberg's Jack Webb's Star is a riotous caper crime with a nasty twist..." Los Angeles Times
"Jack Webb's Star is a darkly funny story about a heist that could only happen in Hollywood. The author is on top of his game," Seattle Post-Intelligencer
"I loved everything about it. More awesomeness from Lee Goldberg," Sara Gran, author of Dope and Come Closer.
"Remaindered is brilliant! Hilarious, suspenseful, with booksigning sequences that induce PTSD... bravo!" Barry Eisler, bestselling author of The Killer Collective
"Bud Flanek is the Kentucky Columbo. Lee Goldberg has the goods." William Link, Emmy Award winning writer/co-creator of Columbo and Murder She Wrote
"One of the wiliest short stories I've read in many years. Lee Goldberg at his very best," Ed Gorman, Mystery Scene Magazine
"...and best of all, Jack Webb's Star, Lee Goldberg's hilarious contemporary tale of a struggling TV writer, his commercial actress wife, a traffic school led by an unfunny stand-up comic, and Joe Friday's star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame," Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.
"Top billing should go to Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch story, 'Suicide Run,' and to Lee Goldberg's 'Jack Webb's Star'--the former for the detection and the latter for biggest laughs," Publisher's Weekly

Title: fun, quick, classic Goldberg
Review: Not normally a fan of short stories, but Iâll read anything Lee Goldberg writes. This little collection is everything that makes his writing so good - masterful storytelling, fabulous characters, and satisfying plots. The collection is a great introduction to Goldberg!

Title: Three excellent short stories, ready when you are.
Review: Okay, so I write a lot of reviews and my ratings run the gamut of stars from 5 to 1 (not to mention the books I'd like to give negatives to if I only could). That being said, this book rates 4 3/4 stars with me. Containing three distinctly-different well-written short stories, this book has everything you could want for a quick diversion. The author bundles humor, irony, sex, murder and very descriptive text into great little stories which will leave you wanting more. Although brief, each story has admirable character development, and the author definitely has the ability to put you into the middle of the action. Really, you can't go wrong with any of these quick, down and dirty stories.

Title: 3.5-stars --I wish amazon allowed us to give half stars beginning at 3.5.
Review: All three stories were well-written and I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase. In fact, I think I would have been satisfied with my purchase at an even higher price between $5.99 - $7.99.So why didn't I rate the 3-story collection higher? While I think the stories were well-written the stories as a collection were lacking a few things.Jack Webb's Star could have used more action. Nonetheless, the last half of the story was very interesting and I liked the twists that the author employed.I didn't care for Bumsicle, but it does capture the detective's lack of enthusiasm for his work brilliantly. At the same time, the pace of the story dragged and I think a little more conflict could have been added to the story. I also didn't connect with the detective or his situation.Remaindered was my favorite story of the three. I was drawn in by the desperation of the novelist and unfortunately, he became a victim of his circumstances. I won't go into specifics, you gotta read the story. One more note, a lot of the things that I pointed out had to do with my personal preferences and the fact that I like stories at a faster pace with a lot of action. These stories maintain an even pace, but they're not dull. Again, I'm speaking on my personal preferences and overall I think this is a pretty good short story collection, and I'd like to read more of the author's work.

Title: Wickedly satisfying murders!
Review: I came across this book totally by accident, downloaded it to my Kindle, and was delighted to be reminded of the pleasures of good short story writing. It was a surprise to find short stories in this murder/detective genre. Each of these three stories was told in a different voice, each unique. In each case, someone either "got away with murder" or was found out when they thought they had committed the perfect crime. The author knows his way around human nature and the darker side of human emotions. In one story, he gave his protagonist the chance to act on this kind emotion in a circumstance which, if we found ourselves in it, would love to do the same but would never have the nerve. This cleverly pulls the reader into the interesting mindset of being surprised how satisfying it was to have the character get away with it. In another story, the plot is reminiscent of a Sherlock Holmes story when the reader discovers at the end how a seemingly innocent death was actually a murder. These were fun.

Title: Three Ways to Die
Review: All three of these stories were great! Lee Goldberg is such a talented writer! These stories were much better than a 30 or 60 minute television show most entertaining, surprising with unexpected twists and turns --- glad I have a lot of his books still to be read! Very well written and will purchase more!

Title: Intriguing plots, maybe a little too short
Review: Very much enjoyed reading these (very) short stories but would have loved it if they had been longer! It all ended before it began!Good easy reads, ideal for short, boring train/bus journeys or flights. Will for sure be looking into buying more by the same author.

Review: I was doubtful about reading this book but I am so pleased I did. The author is the king of story twists and I have never encountered such great short stories as these. I just wanted them to go on and on.

Review: Three very different and very good short stories. Clever writing and quite funny. Most short stories seem unfinished, but these were really complete in themselves.Hope to see more like this, especially more of the Detective
