For Love with Joy is about finding hope and meaning in the midst of grief and loss. This memoir is an invitation for people who are hurting to redeem their pain, and experience a future more glorious than they would have believed.
In this book, David Skidmore explores the connections of faith and doubt, suffering and joy, and how he found purpose in the pain of loss. It is anchored in the belief that "to live is Christ, and to die is gain." This is the path of living for love with joy. It is the best way to live, and the only way to die.

Title: Genuine, heartfelt look at turning grief & loss into real joy
Review: I felt so seen reading this book! I recently lost a loved one and my grief is pretty fresh. Not a lot of friends or people in my life have gone through loss so Iâve felt alone and not understood. Reading this book was a breath of fresh air and like I was talking to a friend that just got it. I canât quote the whole book but one of my favorites is âGrief unlocks sadness, and once you tap into sadness, you feel joy in ways you wouldnât otherwise.â Definitely a must read for anyone looking for hope that there can be joy in and through grief.

Title: A Healing, Helpful How-To in Honest Hope
Review: David Skidmore is a writer's writer for millennials, but this latest offering in his growing collection reaches far beyond any one demographic. The author delivers honest and helpful insight about his mom's journey of passing from life into life through death -- and his steps alongside that voyage. The vulnerable way her son captured the practicalities, the process, and the rawness of their intertwining walks needs to immediately become required reading for medical professionals, spiritual leaders, family caregivers, and faith walkers. That said, my friends are shocked that I even touched a book about death! I'm the gal who only reads good news because there's enough sad, bad news in life already. I just ordered it to honor some of the author's family that I've known a long time. I intended it to reside on my bookshelf until I bumped into someone ELSE I could lend it to who would want to read it.But Skidmore disrupted me with the cover design! I couldn't resist the invitation of my favorite color, sunshine yellow, that he plastered all over that cover, to go ahead...open the pages. I'm sure glad I answered that summons.Though it takes some hard, hot tears and rough air time to process â not always easily â it turns out "for love with joy" is indeed a good news book. The author shows how to LIVE in authentic love, quietly as did his mom or loudly as does he and his dad, and then how to wrap it all in heart ribbons of joy through deep canyons, steady plains, and high summits. He shows us that there's real hope for all of us in this life -- and the next.To do that, Skidmore throws away worn-out platitudes, wrestles with Scripture, gets down and deep with Jesus, broadens views of spirituality, and creates his own edgy writing style to release untold power into the story. I love that!Skidmore's books are nitty-gritty, life-changing gold mines, costly in emotion and self-reflection, but profitable beyond words. The treasure that is "for love with joy" will now stay handy in my life. I plan to buy it for select friends to keep because I don't want to let this healing sunshine out of my sight.Keep soaring, David! The world needs you!

Title: Transforming Grief into Joy
Review: David's vulnerable honesty pierces the darkness of grief with the comforting light of joy. This book will shift your understanding of grief's role in our lives. Most books about grief stagnate too long in a depressing sadness. David writes about the emotions and reality of loss with the gut wrenching truth of losing his mom, but he also showcases how grief can be a source of inspiration, love, and, above all else, joy. If you've ever felt the shadow of grief in your life, this book can help transform the dark spots into spotlights.
