Title: A must have for any small fruit growers
Review: The author knows her subject matter! It is a very easy read but chock full of information from planting all the way through cooking. I found several gooseberry recipes that are sure to be a hit this summer. Jellies, jams, preserves, sass, juice, syrup, pies and much much more.

Title: A fantastic book for those who want to be self sufficient
Review: Ms. Gardner has given basic sound advise for the planting of various types of fruits (including gooseberries and elderberries)along with many great recipes. For anyone wanting old fashioned goodness on hand, this is the book! Her recipes are simple and sound delicious. I have only one warning: her jams and jellies do not call for pectin but rather advise using a percentage of unripe fruit to help the product set. For those who have to buy fruit at the market, this may not always be possible. I would love to see a new edition of this book to address some modern changes but overall love the "old-fashionedness" of this little gem!
