Title: Wonderful and Essential
Review: I bought this book for myself, as it was recommended by Mary from Mary’s Nest and found it to be a wonderful and essential book for all things preserving. I liked it so much I sent a copy to my sister in US.

Title: Delivers what it says - well written
Review: I like this book. It has a short opening that discusses the canning process in general that I find to be a great introduction. I've canned for several years. It has a few pictures that look just delicious, but I would have liked even more. I can't help it - I am happy if I find a handful of recipes that I will make and love, but when just reading a book like tihs -I like the food porn. The recipes are easy and convenient. I do not like jelly enough to make a lot - but sometimes I might want a jar so this is perfect for me - a lot of the recipes make about 4 cups of finished product. There's also freezer recipes in the book- for example olive and mushroom tapenadesI wish it had more beverage recipes in it - perhaps another edition will. I have really found that we love the fruit concentrates canned but I didn't see anything like that in the book..

Title: Chutney recipes are what make this book a keeper
Review: While this book does have canning recipes, the majority of them are refrigerator recipes. Some of which I know can be canned like Lemon Curd. Most of the recipes that have canning instructions are jams. There are lots of recipes for things I would never use like liqueurs and desert toppings, things that I already have recipes for like salsas and tomatoes sauce.I would have sent this book back but the chapter on chutneys make this book a keeper for me.

Review: We are a two person household. Small-batch Preserving is where we’re at. Some lovely recipes in this book. This year we tried Jalapeño Mint Jelly and Chunky Tomato Salsa so far. Up on deck are: Salsa Bruschetta-Style, Seasoned Tomato Sauce (has variations), Summer Sizzle BBQ Sauce and Roasted Vegetable Pasta Sauce. There are numerous types of salsas and other preserves to make. It just happens to be tomato season here right now!😉. I am looking forward to more recipes from this cookbook.
