Title: Absolutely adore this book
Review: I bought a copy for myself and for my boyfriend when I discovered the corollary website has disappeared. In my late 30s when I quit smoking and started working out at the gym I started learning about food. I really knew nothing about nutrition but luckily had a natural inclination toward healthier foods along with the junk. So I learned and focused and developed my tastes giving preference to foods that are good for me while losing my interest in the crap.At the time I was doing this kind of research the WHFoods.com site was an essential part of my awakening. I sent links from the site to people all the time. And then I kind of just forgot about it for awhile. When I discovered the website was gone I panicked and bought a couple of the books. Was just now in the kitchen snacking on cauliflower dipped in hummus and got the book out to read about cauliflower and chick-peas / garbonzo beans.Lots of people have complained about repetitive info about vegetables. I totally disagree; I want all the info right there while I'm reading about that particular item. I don't wanna have to flip back and forth to different sections.I do agree that it's weird that it's not organized alphabetically - however - it's pretty fabulous that it's organized along nutrient value. What a great way to think about food! The author has selected 'The world's healthiest foods' not only for nutritional content but also due to their availability, relative low cost, etc. Some have complained about the recipes being redundant. It's a mediterranean diet that he's proposing. 1) it's very healthy and 2) it's very EASY. For a guy like me, living along and not wanting to make a big mess cooking, simple recipes like these are perfect.I really appreciate this book and thought today I'll buy a third copy for my next door neighbor. I think he'd love it - but now I see the prices have gone through the roof! Wow.Really glad I have my copy; I really miss the website. It's expensive now but I definitely suggest getting this book!

Review: When the book first arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the size. It's massive. I find the way it is laid out really helpful. I can't believe a previous review about there being hardly any recipes. That's rubbish. There are 100 foods featured. Each food has a chapter dedicated to it with nutritional information, techniques for preparing and cooking, and at least 5 recipes and ideas. I have found it really helpful so far, as I used to struggle with fitting fruits and vegetables into my everyday diet. Since buying this book I have been eating about 9/10 portions of vegetables every day! Yes it can be repetitive in places but I think that's intentional. The more you read something, the more it sinks in. Most of the recipes are really delicious. The only criticism is regarding the meal plan. It's not so practical as each day involves eating completely new veggies, fruits and meats. What do I do with all the leftovers?? Saying that, it's great as a guideline but there is no way I could follow the plan strictly. Overall, an amazing book, so informative, delicious recipes and a bargain!!

Alles in allem klar 5 Sterne.
