Title: A Financial Genius Shares Money-Saving Wisdom!
Review: Annie Margarita Yang has written a very thoughtful and often times lol funny book that will help you save money on virtually everything. There is a handy list of ten ways to save in general and then there are 1,001 ideas for how to save when shopping, dealing with housing, utilities, food, clothing and transportation. There are ideas about healthcare and how to save money when dating or married. Music and entertainment are also discussed. Some of the topics of interest include: lifestyle inflation, paying cash, emotional spending, addiction, coupons, shopping lists, logical ways to run a business, retirement planning, moving expenses, home ownership, house sitting, cooking tips and saving money on yard work.Annie Margarita Yang has some travel and vacation advice too that will have you spending half the money and having twice the fun. There are also ingenious ideas like saving money painting a room that I would have never thought of myself. I used idea #147 to cook two items in my oven to save on energy costs. Lately I have also been using tip #157 with laundry and #162 is also great to reduce heating costs. While reading you will probably think that you have learned some of these tips along the way in life just naturally. I don't however think that renting is cheaper than buying a house because it seems a mortgage can be less money than rent per month and when selling you can often recoup your investment because prices tend to increase. (Please consult with a professional advisor however.) To be honest too I think buy your textbooks, you will feel better about reading them. The author also says you can get them from a library and borrow them.On the subject of cohabitating, living together can be quite expensive because statistically often people who do live together end up getting married and divorced later and divorce is $20,000 these days. So look before you leap! I've also read that the more you spend on a wedding the longer you stay married but obviously there should be some limits. A wedding can be very memorable for everyone and is like throwing the biggest party of your life. But I admit the idea of spending all that money on a down payment for a house would have been a great thing to do.Some of the questions this book answers include:How can you save money on yogurt? How do you preserve fresh food? Why should you use reusable bags when grocery shopping?Should you buy or lease a car? Used or new car?Is it cheaper to bake your own bread? How can you enjoy a social life that is less expensive? How can you spend less on clothes and toiletries? What can you do to lower the cost of education? (Do more research on various types of schools.)The author suggests yoga and meditation but I only enjoy the nonreligious kind. Research religions the author mentions as well before jumping in. Choosing a religion is an eternal decision for a lot of people. While reading you may agree or disagree with some things. I found I agreed with 90% of the book because the recommendations and suggestions really do work. I'd also suggest sending the person who is most frugal in your family to the grocery store. Today my husband came home with twice the amount of milk for half the price! He obviously looks at the prices and I've only started doing that recently when I went to the store with a limited amount of cash. Buying what I want vs. buying what I need are two different things! I'm learning and getting wiser! So yes, you can make a whole game out of saving money. In the long-run the money you save now will be needed in your retirement. I enjoyed this book more than most books I've ever read. What a fun book!!! Some of the humor is tongue-in-cheek. You will love the experience of reading this book!!! I wish all books were this enjoyable to read!~The Rebecca Review

Title: Funny and Useful. Annie has a way of telling you like it is and being relatable.
Review: I found Annie on youtube and her personality was so charming I had to see what this book was about. Plus, being of a similar age I related to someone in their twenties aspiring to be good at money, especially when our parents weren't that great at it. This is a fun and addicting read about the many ways that I surely didn't know I could save money. I have actually gone about applying Annies tips to my life and it's made me feel so much more in control and intentional of my income and expenses.

Review: This was not at all what I expected it to be. I was hoping for little tips on saving. It was investing advice.

Review: This book was okay, some of the observations didn't make sense. Dumpster dive? No thank you! I understand the point of this being a away to be frugal, but....IDK.
