From a leading pediatric sleep physician comes a revolutionary program that will have everyone in the house sleeping through the night.

When Dr. Craig Canapari became a father, he realized that all his years of 36-hour hospital shifts didn't even come close to preparing him for the sleep deprivation that comes with parenthood. The difference is that parents don’t get a break—it’s hard to know if there’s a night of uninterrupted sleep anywhere in the foreseeable future. Sleepless nights for kids mean sleepless nights for the rest of the family—and a grumpy group around the breakfast table in the morning.

In It's Never Too Late to Sleep Train, Canapari helps parents harness the power of habit to chart a clear path to high-quality sleep for their children. The result is a streamlined two-step sleep training plan that focuses on cues and consequences, the two elements that shape all habits and that take on special importance when it comes to kids’ bedtime routines.

Dr. Canapari distills years of clinical research and experience to make sleep training simple and stress-free. Even if you’ve been told that you’ve missed the optimal "window" for sleep training, Dr. Canapari is here to prove that it's never too late, whether your child is 6 months or 6 years old. He's on your side in the battle against bedtime, and with his advice, parents and children alike can expect a lifetime of healthy sleep.

Title: Excellent overview of numerous techniques
Review: As a mental health provider who often sees parents and children affected by pediatric sleep issues and also as a father of young children including twins, I have read or listened to several books on sleep training.I think this book (which I listened to through Audible) is a really helpful overview of numerous techniques spanning a spectrum (generally ranging from faster but potentially harder on parents to slower but "gentler"). One Amazon reviewer said that this book was just about the "cry it out" method and that the author bragged about his child crying for hours and didn't care if your child threw up, etc. I believe that description is entirely inaccurate... It seems as though that reviewer read three pages of the book and then reinterpreted the material it for her review based on her aversion to that technique since many other things were discussed in the book (and that was also an unfair and inaccurate summary). In fact, the strength of this book is all the different areas he touches on including different techniques AND their pros and cons. The problem with, for example, the book by Dr. Weissbluth is that it is infamously very long and repetitive and, of course, is mainly just discussing his method. In this book, you have fairly concise treatments of Weissbluth, Ferber, and other options.I wish he didn't feel the need to jokingly swear a few times (and he is occasionally a bit sarcastic) which may be off-putting to some parents, especially if they are sleep-deprived, but all in all I think it's very good and will recommend it to my clients.

Title: Life changing
Review: I've been using Amazon consistently for almost 10 years and have never written a review before this one. That should give you an idea of how excited I am about this book. My 3-year-old has never been a good sleeper. I've never felt comfortable with the idea of "cry it out," so I resigned myself to spending every single night rocking her to sleep, sometimes for hours. My husband and I would also wake up to her crying at least once a night.Tonight, one week after reading this book and implementing some of its tactics along the way, I just put my daughter into her bed, said goodnight, and left the room. I watched the monitor and was amazed to see her quietly fall asleep on her own, for the first time ever. I honestly couldn't imagine when this day would come, and I am so thankful to Dr. Canapari. Here are some specific things I liked about this book:-Easy to read and extremely informative. I've read Ferber's "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems," among others, and found this book to be particularly user-friendly and concise.-It provides tactics to use for kids of all ages, as well as kids who have autism or other developmental disorders.-It includes findings from the latest sleep-related studies.-It is optimistic, non-judgmental, and relatable. I was immediately sold when, in the first quarter of the book, Dr. Canapari accurately described each issue we have been dealing with in a very understanding way. Soon after, he provided a variety of concrete, actionable tactics to solve these issues. I liked that he also talks about his own foibles when it comes to sleep training his children. In general, he comes across as non-pretentious and eager to help.I think that this book will become a staple for sleep-deprived parents, and I will certainly recommend it to anyone I can.

Title: Great book for multiple age groups
Review: I really like this book. The author is smart and witty (in a Dad joke kind of way); he gets what being a parent is like. I have an almost 2 yr old with epilepsy and I was extended breastfeeding her so we have been really down the rabbit hole with sleep. Since reading the book I decided to wean, because the frequency of her night wakings was making me exhausted and it was pretty clear I would need to in order to get our sleep on track. This book is cool bc it has a real "choose you own adventure" vibe. He gives a lot of different options, depending on your comfort level and child. He also addresses all ages of kids (up into grade school). Honestly, I'll probably implement some of his tactics with my 8 yr old too, because he pulls some real nonsense at bedtime. Good resource and gives me hope for sleep!

Review: Lots of clear factual explanation to help you understand how things work and the basics of a problem, & helpful practical ideas; I liked the confidence of the author based on his own experience of working with many families, that sleep problems can be improved at any child's age, and the way he sets out easier longer ways of working not just tough ones which I might not have the stamina or courage to try.

Review: Good book, an easy read with a lot of useful and interesting information, not much in terms of fillers - all of which is very helpful when having to read a book while juggling an infant.
