Title: Incredible Weather Station - A Must Have...
Review: I know this model has been out for awhile but I have to say it...It's about time the displays with weather stations caught up with the rest of the world. I've been wanting to replace my older weather station for some time...all the while I dreamed of the display's being more graphic and in color. After looking over what Amazon offers...I found some which had the text in color and the forecast in color...however nothing "Wow'd" me in terms of the display until I came across the AcuRite 01024M Pro.Once received I had it installed within a couple days. I couldn't believe how easy it was compared to my older system. What made the installation a breeze (no pun intended lol) was the fact that the sensors are all housed within one unit...unlike the older systems which had at least three separate sensors and wires. It was as simple as attaching the sensor housing to a dowel at the height I wanted and then attach the dowel to the roof. Done. Going back to the display...all I had to do was plug it in and it automatically started the setup process and detected the sensors. In fact I didn't even need to look at the user guide it was so simple. And of course, the display was awesome. I loved the graphics...gives more of a computer feel to it...yet the info is laid out in an orderly fashion and easy to understand. An added plus which I actually love...seeing how the display is always on...is the option to dim the brightness at a specific time in the evening or...to have the display go into a sleep mode at a specific time and wake back up at a specific time. The screen dims and only shows the most important current weather info. If you need to see the main screen you simply press a key and it wakes up. The display goes back to sleep after 15 seconds of the last key press. This is very handy at night. I have mine go to "sleep" shortly after I call it a night, and wake back up about an hour before I get up. Now that is a very clever handy function. This system also updates more frequently when it comes to wind guests than my older system did which means it catches more guests with less data loss. My older system updated every 30 seconds...you can miss vital wind gust info within a 30 second span. So...this was an added plus for me. And lastly, this weather station also detects lightning which is a first for me. On day one after I installed it we had another winter storm push through and behind it heavy showers. This system detected a single lightning strike about 9 miles away...most likely off shore as we live on the coast. You see the lightning alert on both the display and the portable detector. I like how it actually tells you how many miles away the lightning was. To know if lightning is getting closer or moving further away you simply see if the system is reporting lighting with the distance decreasing or increasing. Decreasing means getting closer and increasing moving away. Simple enough. One thing to note, as you look at the included photos, I also have a wired wind gauge which is the small display you see above this weather station's display...and to the left of this stations sensors on my roof. And yes...I also purchased it from Amazon. It's electronic and gives me up to the second wind info...so a more accurate wind reading. While the wireless update window with the AcuRite 01024M Pro is much faster than older systems...there is still some data loss due to the update window it has...which is why I have a second wind gauge...kind of like a back-up system.So...if you're looking for a well put together weather station with clean crisp graphics...and in color to boot...I highly recommend this system. I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to tracking the remaining winter storms of 2017 as they push through our area. Hope this review helps you to make your decision....

Title: Excellent Weather Station
Review: Please understand I am not a weather station buff but in my opinion this is very good. What I found excellent was the ease if the setup from programming the display to the installation of the weather sensor unit. The lightning sensor seems to be kind or weird since it seems it only alerts you with just the unit outside. Meaning you would have to be in close proximity to in. I am not sure it alerts you on the main display since I am not had bad weather as of yet. We will at a later date when it happens.

Title: Works great - find the display option you want to purchase
Review: Great product! I had an older one of the same brand that lasted for about ten years. I looked around and noticed that there were at least three different indoor displays that all seemed to come with the same outside base unit. I got the one with what I wanted - a color display that is easy to see and gives the breakdown of rainfall by week, month, and year on the primary screen. Easy to connect and get up and running.

Title: 4 stars because of the rain calibration process
Review: Overall I really do like this weather station. The display is nice, the setup wasn't too bad (aside from getting onto my roof with a wobbly ladder in the Texas summer heat), and the connection between the display and the sensor was surprisingly simple. It's very nice to have wind measurements, and temperature trends displayed for my house. Make sure you mount it a couple feet higher than your structure to keep your building from affecting the wind readout. I mounted mine on a PVC pipe a couple feet long to get it higher. The downside: the rainfall calibration process. They want you to poke a hole in a cup, fill it with 8oz of water, and sit there and drip the 8oz of water into the sensor for TWENTY MINUTES to calibrate it. The instructions are pretty clear on how you adjust the sensor, but what are you supposed to do? Goldilocks it for 20 minutes each time until you get it just right? I've got a kid, dude, I can't spend that much time tinkering with a sensor that should come pre-calibrated! For my purposes (personal use, not broadcasting or sharing the info), out of the box is "good enough". These should really come from the factory with the rainfall sensor calibrated, or at least some kind of tool (ie cup with a measured leak for the process) that allows you to do the calibration process without having to stand there and do it the entire time.

Title: Beware of distance claims!
Review: I am giving this unit 5 stars, but with some of MY help! The unit arrived well packed! and on time. The setup was spot on to the instructions! It worked perfect on the bench. The bench set up took me 45 min, but anyone could do it in half that time. I am just slow and methodical.Setting up the pole outside, and attaching the ground level battery took a couple of hrs. (see above). Much to my dismay the unit did not work fully. It had wind speed and direction, but no outside temp. The signal strength bars showed 4, but I suspected that. I changed batteries, (they read new) then I took the display to a closer room. It worked perfectly!, OK, OK ..... I wanted the display in my "Man Cave" so......... Since I was apparently slightly out of range, I remember the day when we had rabbit ears on our TV set, to get a better single we wrapped alum. foil around the antennas. I tried that and Voila!! enough signal to use my display where I wanted. The total distance from the outside unit to my display is about 60 feet with 3 walls. I guess about the max on could expect, but nowhere near the outlandish claims of 330 feet. ( I know line of sight and clear air).I have owned several other whether stations before, I am in love with this unit! It is the best I have ever had (so far)

Review: This is our second unit of the same brand and model (the first unit lasted about 4 years but the monitor eventually froze out, may have dropped it too many times). We actually used the existing sensor assembly with the new monitor, and ended up buying a second monitor only so we had 2 complete weather stations. Easy to read, bright. The one change is no battery backup so you lose your data if the unit is unplugged. We really like this unit, we purchased the battery extension (so you don't have to climb up to the sensor to change batteries) and the lightening detector as well.

Review: I replaced an older model with this one. I did not remove the batteries from the old one before I set the new one up. It read the old station's info for a day until I realized it was not the new one. It was an easy fix. The old display ran off of batteries. This model is only plug in. I set on a window sill facing the weather station. It had a poor connection with the station, sometimes no reception over night. I thought the new station could not receive a signal as well as my older model so I moved my station from approximately 250 feet to 150 feet and not behind any trees. It still had intermittent reception. I moved the display 3 feet away from the window sill and it has worked perfectly since with the signal strength constantly at full bars. The rain sensor worked perfectly and was very accurate the first time it rained. 2 other gauges showed 6/10ths and this display showed 0.61". The second "rain" the display showed it raining for 45 minutes before it actually rained. It was out 0.75 inches. The 3rd rain was very accurate again. I will have to wait for more data before determining an adjustment. I'm not sure what interfered with the second rain recording. The lightening counter is a nice feature. The wind, humidity and temperature seem accurate.

Customers say

Customers like the ease of setup of the weather station. They mention it's wireless, connects instantly when setting up, and is easy to read. Some are satisfied with the information quality. However, some customers are disappointed with the battery backup. Opinions are mixed on functionality, accuracy, reliability, and display quality.
