Title: Bought two of these APs to settle an issue with my Orbi setup
Review: I've only had these installed for 18 hours but I can say, so far, quite satisfied with them. 2600 sq ft split level home. Background: I grew tired of netgear not updating my Orbi units for the web interface, where they no longer can do a SSL key exchange for the web interface on updated browsers. Pretty lame Netgear for a year and a half old system. I put those in AP mode and used my Ubiquity EdgeRouter to handle firewall and routing and my pihole to hand out DHCP, I put those Orbis in AP mode. Streaming from my phones and smart devices suffered big time. It's almost like AP mode broke the mesh of the orbi and satellite. SO I did a little research and I already have a POE Switch so I found these.Installation: Installing was a breeze. The included mounts are good enough for most situations. I opted for using the App for setup, but I do like the fact that these can operate Stand-alone in case the app dies or this company goes away. I set up my SSIDs as I had them on my Orbi, and after about 10 minutes or so everything was working at speeds I was used to.Difficulties: The App's push settings to the APs take a bit of time, and the app logs in every time you open it. I don't foresee me having to manage these often since it's just my home network, but minor tweaks may be in order to 5ghz channels. Firmware updates are defaulted to Sundays at 2am, but it would be nice to force updates when I want.Overall: These are providing a much better streaming experience than my Orbi setup in AP mode, and nearly identical when the Orbis were running the show themselves. If anything, these APs give me more control and flexibility.I'll update this review if these APs prove ot be unreliable, but so far, I'm happy!

Title: Works well - BUT no breeze to set up.
Review: This is primarily intended to experienced IT folks, IMO. I had used an earlier model of the AP, and it has worked flawlessly for years. I am sure this will do the same. It is rock solid. That said, the software APP tries to simplify things, but instead isn't very clear. I didn't try Tech Support, as I do have a years of working with routers behind me, and other family members as well.Again, though, the unit is a great piece of hardware and a great deal for the price.

Title: Engenius failed to include a way to mount this model on a surface!
Review: It's not clear from the photos...it looks like a nice, clean access point. On the Engenius website, it is shown very neatly flush-mounted on a drywall ceiling. And most of the photos show it in residential settings, but it's not actually possible to mount it in a home with typical drywall construction, using what comes in the box.One might be able to hack up the included T-Rail bracket so that it could mount flat on a surface, but then it wouldn't be anything like a flush mount and it wouldnât be pretty. None of the photos even show the unfinished side of the AP. I have attached a photo that shows what you will see, except that it will be a full inch off of the ceiling (and crooked if one uses the unmodified included T-rail clip). Youâll have your cable coming out in full view and then presumably going up through an fully-visible hole in your ceiling. Unless you terminate the cable in place, the hole will have to be big enough to accommodate the RJ-45 plug, so it will be extra ugly. And the access point will hang down so far that you might even be able to see the cable from the far side. When did it become acceptable for the Ethernet and power connectors to be fully exposed? That's not okay for a home or for a business. IMHO, it's just stupid. It is almost as if there should be a mounting plate with a plastic cover for the ports, but apparently it doesn't exist. This is someone's bright idea of how to build an access point. Very disappointing from a company that has made so very many perfectly acceptable access points over the years. FWIW, the EAP1300 mounts just like one would expect an access point to mount. Maybe this is some other brand of access point that Engenius just slapped their brand name on, although I canât imagine why.Oh, and it runs pretty hot too. The specs say that up to 104F ambient is acceptable, but this thing might actually melt if the ambient temperature was that high. Iâm not sure whatâs itâs good for. Perhaps a very cold unfinished space with a suspended ceilingâ¦(?)

Review: I gave these a 3 for "Easy to install" because they're not just plug-and-play. You need to connect them directly to a computer with a LAN cable and static IP in the same range to access the web admin console and configure them, which takes some I.T. or computer knowledge, and you also need an external power adapter when doing this...and they don't come with one. I have one from a Western Digital external USB drive that works and I use that. Once the WAP is configured with your desired IP and network settings, disconnect it from your computer and it gets power over the Ethernet connection (PoE) if your switch is PoE...or else you'll need that external power adapter. At any rate, I have about a dozen of these throughout my company's 6 branches around western Canada and once configured, they work great. Strong signals, rarely need a reboot, and no disconnections.

Review: Initially I used it on the wall and was disappointed. However on the ceiling it works well. I just wish it installed flush against ceiling instead of holder system

Review: Each country has different rules for how wireless works. Generally the manufacturer deals with this by allowing you to select your country. This access point doesn't list Australia so it can't be configured to be legal in Australia.
