"The most useful single volume on wine ever published... If I owned only one wine book, it would be this one." - Andrew Jefford, Decanter

A major new edition of this landmark wine book that has sold 4.7 million copies worldwide.

Few wine books can be called classic, but the first edition of The World Atlas of Wine made publishing history when it appeared in 1971. It is recognized by critics as the essential and most authoritative wine reference work available. This eighth edition will bring readers, both old and new, up to date with the world of wine.

To reflect all the changes in the global wine scene over the past six years, the Atlas has grown in size to 416 pages and 22 new maps have been added to the wealth of superb cartography in the book. The text has been given a complete overhaul to address the topics of most vital interest to today's wine-growers and drinkers.

With beautiful photography throughout, Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson, the world's most respected wine-writing duo, have once again joined forces to create a classic that no wine lover can afford to be without.

"The World Atlas of Wine is the single most important reference book on the shelf of any wine student." - Eric Asimov, New York Times

"Like a good bottle of wine, you'll find yourself going back to it again and again... Perfect for anyone who has a thirst for greater wine knowledge." - Edward Deitch, NBC/today.com

"The World Atlas of Wine belongs on your shelf... The essential rootstock of any true wine lover's library. A multi-layered snapshot of wine and how it has evolved." - Dave McIntyre, Washington Post

Title: A useful and beautiful book
Review: This book is full of useful, detailed information. It's also beautiful: it has thick pages, color maps, and ribbon bookmarks. At the current price it's a steal.

Title: Worthy supplement to The Oxford Companion to Wine
Review: While I have worked as a wine professional for years, I only recently purchased a copy of the most recent edition (8th) of The World Atlas of Wine. Frankly, I wished I had purchased a copy sooner. Over the years, I have mostly relied on The Oxford Companion to Wine, as well as my Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) and Wine & Spirits Educational Trust (WSET) training materials. In addition to providing useful commentary on the world's major wine-producing regions and appellations, The World Atlas of Wine is built around highly detailed and multi-colored maps of the world's wine regions, not only including outline maps of appellations, but showing relevant geographic features as well the locations of notable vineyards and winemakers. For anyone seeking to understand the geographical relationships of mountains, rivers, lakes, and oceans, national and regional boundaries, as well as notable vineyards and wineries, The World Atlas of Wine will be a worthy addition to your wine references library.

Title: Impressive book
Review: I belong to a wine tasting group. We’ve been meeting since 2011. I wanted to increase my overall knowledge of wines, especially appellations around the world. With a large trim size, these authors packed in a lifetime of knowledge. Lots of maps and pictures which appropriately situate regions geographically. I enjoy the soil science elements as they explain each terroir. I am using this to suggest themes for our monthly get togethers. As a writer, I much appreciate the immense work and passion for the topic that has gone into this work.

Title: Big, colorful, and lots of great information
Review: This book is big, beautiful, colorful, and full of amazing information. There are tons of pictures and maps. A lot of the comments mentioned small or poor quality maps and images, but I don’t agree with that. However, I am a wine enthusiast and not using the book for professional or academic endeavors. My only reason for taking a star off my review is because the book came with a noticeably damaged corner. I don’t totally mind because now I won’t feel the need to be so careful with the book since it already has some damage. Very happy with my purchase overall.
