The Durand Vintage Cork Removal The Durand Vintage Cork Removal

The Durand is a broadly patented device that is exceptionally effective in removing compromised and fragile corks, whole and intact, from older, valued wines. The Durand has been repeatedly tested on the most challenging corks. It has performed consistently and flawlessly.
Using The Durand for older, fragile or compromised corks eliminates the unwanted outcomes of broken corks, corks pushed into bottles or corks partially removed leaving pieces floating in the wine. The Durand removes the cork whole and contained.
The Durand is named for Yves Durand, a world-renowned sommelier, and a personal friend and mentor.
The Durand is simple and easy to use…when used correctly. Please take a moment to look at the instructions diagram or the informative video on this page. Directions for use are also printed on the inside of the reusable wrapper that encases the cork presentation box of The Durand.

Title: Amazing - both in utility and in price
Review: This thing is amazing. It is amazing how well it works with old fragile corks. And it is amazing how expensive it is. It is basically a cork screw and an Ah So cork remover. Each of these independently costs about $10 (if that). Put them together into this devices and it is almost ten times that. ($145 when I bought it.) So, I resisted buying this because the expense seemed ridiculous. But after too many crumbled corks, I went for it. The thing actually works! If you are opening fine old bottles of wine, this may be just what you need -- at the price of one of those fine old bottles of wine! Cheers!

Title: A must for old and/or expensive wines
Review: The device is expensive, maybe overpriced, but it works on old corks, especially long French corks. The combination of the central extra long corkscrew and the outside sheath allows even pull on the cork with no fragmentation. I have certain wines that I always seemed to break the cork. No more!

Title: Great bottle opener
Review: If you have a collection of older wines the Durand two piece opener is a must. Anyone who opens older wines has experienced the frustration of breaking a delicate corn in an expensive bottle. The Durand allows you to safely and easily open older wine with potentially delicate or degraded corks; The price is up there but if you're opening expensive aged wines it well worth the cost.

Title: Quite a Novelty
Review: The item is well built but expensive. So far, have not come across an aged bottle of wine or opportunity to use this gadget. Perhaps I can demonstrate the gadget as bragging rights among my buddies.

Review: When I was told about this cork remover, I scoffed. My existing cork remover could do the job just as well, I thought. Two 1983 bottles of Bordeaux with disintegrating corks convinced me I was very wrong. After taking the time to learn how to use the Durand properly, I have not lost a single cork. Expensive cork remover, but saving one bottle of vintage wine from cork bits makes this worth every penny. Nothing better on the market, I believe.

Review: You will need this, or risk the cork disintergrate in the decocking process. It is a simple concept, combining the cork screw with the "Ah So" to ensure the cork is securly pulled. This is the 5th one I have purchased, the last four was "gifted" to friends that admire the (my!) Durand in its operation. Should be a lifetime purchase for vintage wine lovers (unless you have my kind of friends!)
