It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. Though there have been countless stories about me throughout my career and very public personal life, it’s been impossible to communicate the complexities and depths of my experience in any single magazine article or a 10-minute television interview. And even then, my words were filtered through someone else’s lens, largely satisfying someone else’s assignment to define me.

This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit.

Love,

Mariah

Title: Sad Funny
Review: I was completely blown away, I had no idea of the depth of her suffering. She was abused, spit on neglected, hungry and scared. Some people did not treat her like a human being with feelings. Kids can be so cruel. This book made me sad, I had to hold back the tears, I could feel her pain. She was such a cute good sweet child, how could anyone neglect or want to hurt her or any child. No child should have to endure suffering. And it amazes me that nobody could figure out that her hair needed to be combed. Real simple. I wanted to personally dive through the pages with a comb and comb her hair myself, untangling all the knots and shame. Her aunts really tried to fix her hair, no offense to them. Her father was absolutely strong and wonderful. He endured a lot of pain, for being black. I believe Mariah got her strength from this beautiful man. I loved how he would cook her dinner 🥘 at his home every Sunday. The love and attention in which he prepared the meals is so heart warming with the delicious aromas of spices. Her father’s home seemed to be her safe haven from all that madness on the other side of town, where she was being burnt with 🥵 water and being chased by a pedophile pimp trying to steal her innocence and what little joy she had. I am was so happy to read that through the grace of God she was protected from that pedophile no good pimp. And so many other bad things. Her sense of humor made some of the situations funny, especially her first marriage. Imagine having to tiptoe out of the bedroom for some time alone and peace. The angels were definitely watching over her. And those circle of MEAN GIRLS who taunted her. I believe that they were jealous of her. I wonder where they are today? Through all of her pain and suffering, she has been able to maintain her goodness. She didn’t allow other people to derail or hardened her. I just wish she had been more open earlier in her career and I would have understood her better, but I am sure she had her reasons, being that this book is so personal and raw. Mariah is one strong beautiful lady. This book is a must read for everyone and should have a place in all school libraries. And Mariah you are GOOD! I love you and I am now an even bigger fan. GOD BLESS. And keep being you.

Title: There seems to be quite a bit missing...
Review: I am and have been a fan of Mariah Carey since her very first single. Im watching Tennessee with Mariah right now and just finished Wisegirls - both very good and entertaining films. I recently wrote a review on Jessica Simpsons open book and like Jessica I remember hearing Mariahs Vision of Love on the car radio and couldn't believe the high notes she hit. I ran out and bought the cd and loved Mariahs voice and especially her writing talent.Like Jessica I made a point to buy every Mariah cd on release day including the super fun remix cd singles they used to release that would have multiple remixes of her current single. Im glad Mariah is doing the music she wants, but I have to admit I miss the upbeat/pop faster tracks.Regarding the book I bought 2 one to read and one to store away as my collectible copy. I am enjoying the book but in my opinion it could have been so much better or even longer with more current events. Jessica Simpsons book was over 400 pages and she came along about 10 years after Mariah.I adore and respect our girl Mariah so I'm not looking for dirt, name dropping or snide remarks. But there seem to be gaps missing. There is not one mention of the film Wisegirls which I thought was pretty damn good. I recall Entertainment Tonight doing stories how Mariah and Mira Sorvino did not get along and allegedly came to blows and fought each other on the set. How did Mariah get the part, what are her thoughts? The same with Tennessee which gets a very brief mention. Precious got about 2 pages.I would have loved to read more about Mariahs movie experience. There is a lot about Glitter, but in my opinion again that movie is no where near as bad as people try to make it. I actually just bought that on bluray since I had no idea they released it in HD.There is enough info on her CDs , releasing and promotion, chart position and who she worked with. I just feel Jessica Simpsons book was so open and honest I blew through it in a weekend. Im still working on Mariahs book and truthfully find myself losing interest. And believe me I HATE to write or even admit it.The best chapters dealt with Mariahs personal struggles during the Glitter era and how she found herself locked in a facility she couldn't leave. Im not bad mouthing or putting Mariah down I just wish it was more current. What happened to James Packard who I believe she was gonna marry. How are she and Tanaka doing? Are there more movies coming? A new CD? What did she think of "Mariahs World" her reality show? She never addressed the Eminem feud or her time as a judge on American Idol.I get it and understand there are things she doesn't want to get into like her brother and sister and mother and she is certainly entitled to that but like I said info on the movies would have been interesting and I dint even think she went into the creation of Bianca (unless I just didn't get that far).I feel this book could have been over 500 pages with a lot more info. Im still giving it 5 stars because its our one and only Mariah Carey who i adore.PS my second copy I ordered from Amazon and almost had a stroke when they simply dropped the book in a plastic mailer with no bubble wrap or they didn't even use a box so I was expecting dented corners and bent up dust jacket, but to my surprise it came perfect. Anyway fellow lambs enjoy, I still love Mariah and will still be online whenever her next project comes out.

Title: SO MUCH I DIDN’T kNOW!
Review: I have always been a fan of Mariah’s I knew a bit about her life but to say this book was an eye opener is selling it short. First thing I will say, you should include the Audiobook when reading this because it’s masterful. Mariah reads and sings! YES, she sings songs that coordinate with the chapters or situations as the story is told. Mariah has overcome so much and stood strong from a very young age. The worst of it is, it’s been at the hands of her own family! That is way before she meant “Tony Sony” and boy was he a monster. All in all, I am so glad I picked this book up. ( the price is amazing) It’s a TOP READ for me and my administration for Mariah has risen for sure!

Review: I have never given much attention to Mariah Carey, didn't know why people liked her, and personally hated her because my fave in high school, Eminem, hated her. One day I was in Superstore and I was perusing through the book section. This was the time when her book was first published, around Sept. or Oct. 2020. It was sitting on the top shelf and I felt called to it. My dislike of her as a teen wasn't relevant because I haven't thought or cared about her for years at that point....Aside from my particularly biased criticisms, I always felt that she was mysterious. This is the only opinion I have of her that wasn't influenced by external forces. I wanted to buy it, but I stopped myself because I thought it would be better to buy the ebook instead. I did just that and let me just say this, in the book where she talks about being at a dinner party and meeting Derek for the first time, where she felt like everything went from black-and-white to Technicolor, and how she felt like she was in a new room and in a new moment was exactly how I felt about her....After reading her book, I felt so close to her. I felt like I knew her because I've felt the same way as her. She didn't come from a happy home, she felt like an outsider never being able to fit in, she remembered and cherished her first true love for years afterwards, she's struggled with mental health issues......she felt like me. I was entranced, mesmerized, transformed, hooked, and near addicted. I bought her music, I purchased butterfly jewelry, and I was determined to buy the hardcover copy of this book. I've never felt like this before with anyone and anything in my life....People can have their own opinions and judgements of this book and her, but to me, this was a spiritual experience. How she longed to feel connected to someone who understood her experience was what I felt my whole life as well; meeting her through this book felt like God had finally answered my prayers. I didn't feel alone anymore. This was big for me. The more I learned about her and listened to her music, I felt healed. So when I finally bought the hardcover copy through Amazon, I reread it to stick tabs in it and assigned a different meaning to each color tab. I took off the cover as to not damage it and placed it standing on my dresser, where I can see it. I keep the book on my bed and revisit sections of it often....I know I sound obsessive but it's just really special to me and I thank God for aligning me with her. I do have a couple tiny criticisms about the book but it's miniscule and irrelevant. It's a memoir. It's her life story, not mine. What I've experienced after reading it is more valuable than anything else. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk lol

Review: Resiliência. Honestidade. Humildade. Humanidade. Sensibilidade. Aprendizado. Força. Fé. Ambição. Determinação. Perseverança. Sobrevivência. Identidade. Libertação. Liberdade. Emancipação. Humor. Amor. Afeto. Gratidão. Maternidade. Sucesso.

"The Meanin of Mariah Carey", ist ein fesselndes Buch voll Musik. God bless her!
