Volume 1 of The Beginning After The End

I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room—the royal bedchamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how?

King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability, but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic. Given a second chance at life, the once-king strives to understand his role in this new world and the purpose of his reincarnation while correcting the mistakes of his past.

Title: A well written reincarnation isekai story.
Review: The beginning of the story is a bit bumpy, but once the transition occurs, it gets to be fairly fun. The characters are unique and well rounde. While the story doesn't really stand as much on itself when considering the length of the series, it will be well worth the read and with Travis Baldree being the audible narrator it is also a great listen. It is appropriate for young adults and above. There is some language and, of course, violence in action. There is a roller coaster of emotion and some funny and awkward moments, considering it is a fully mature mind that is born into a new world.Even If this was a chapter by chapter release or online novel it was well written with a. Consistent plot, interesting characters and a unique world that grows with each book and has a strong foundation in this one.I am 7 books in and found for the most part. The story is well written with each book, having a fairly solid beginning, middle, and end, but not entirely able to stand on its own without the previous work. While I did find some nit pickcy things later on in the series, overall, this will become something I will retrieve and listen to multiple times, I believe.

Title: BUY IT NOW.
Review: Buy this book. Now. You will enjoy it, and if you didn't enjoy it, stop lying to yourself. On a more serious note, this is a wonderful book. The plotline is captivating and entertaining, with the plot perfectly paced. However, I do have a few tiny qualms. The author does make the occasional questionable grammar choice and there are a couple typos and a few words that are left out/ switched/ the wrong tense. There are also rampant comma issues, but they're all consistent and I am frankly more worried that I accidentally memorized every single rule about using commas and subconsciously apply them to everything I read to see if the author messed up. Most people won't recognize the comma problems unless they're looking for them (or are weird like me), so it doesn't actually hinder the enjoyment of the book. The next minor issue is that Arthur seems a tiny bit full of himself at the beginning, which is very quickly proven not to be the case and wouldn't even be noticeable if it wasn't for the sample not getting that far. My last and by far the largest and most important problem is that Arthur's hair on the cover is brown. It should be red. Words cannot describe how I feel about that. Please note that I only noticed all of those faults because I have read this book seven times since I bought it two months ago, because OH MY GOD THIS BOOK IS AMAZING KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! ... ahem. Now, if I went in to detail about why that is, this review would be longer than the book. So to greatly and horrendously abbreviate, the setting is wonderful, the main character is fascinating and fleshed out in such a way so that it feels like you are getting to know him as a person and not as part of an exposition, the supporting characters are all unique and interesting, the action scenes are perfect, the plot seems directionless but is actually brilliant once you think about it, and the magic system is simple yet versatile and freaking awesome.I think that this may be a serious contender for my new favorite series of all time, which is saying something considering I own nearly three hundred books and have read far more at the library. So GO BUY THIS ENTIRE SERIES AND LOVE IT. And then help me beg TurtleMe for the fourth book so I can get rid of this slightly worrying empty feeling I've had since that cliffhanger at the end of book three! ...seriously, I need that fourth book.

Title: A very enjoyable read.
Review: This book really was an enjoyable read for me, and I plowed right through it. The premise is interesting, the comedy is spot on, and the combat is a joy. It's hard to tell what specifically I liked about this book, since it really all flowed together so well. I think first is the comedy. Having an adult in a child's body makes for some really funny moments, especially when the main character is an infant. I also really enjoyed the fight scenes, which showcased a toddler jumping around killing adult. It was told in a way so I could visualize what was happening and I can tell you some of these scene are very hype. I did take off one star for the book's glaring issue: info dumps. Heck, the book start with it. It become less frequent toward the end of the book, dare I say tolerable, that doesn't change the fact that the beginning is riddled with it. My advice to you: skip it. I did, wasn't confused once. I've also noticed quite a few reviews comment on the poor quality of the writing, and though I think it is no masterpiece, I only really noticed the tense of the writing flipping. I don't know if it's because I read through it and enjoyed it so well or if the book has been updated with a more recent addition since the reviews, but I believe that it is the latter as I have purchased the sequel and noticed a lot of issues that weren't present in this book. If you're interested, I'd give this book a shot. You might be presently surprised (just skip the info dumps).
