Title: Elegant little Thermo/Hygor/Trend indicator
Review: So I am a bit of a home weather station geek with several different ones from different brands, Accurite, Ambient Weather, Sensor Push and even an old Oregon Scientific. Each have their merits. I got the eve to try it out and because I though it looked pretty cool. And I have not been disappointed. Really at all. When I first got it several months ago I had an iPhone 6 running ios12 so the eve app would not run on my phone. However I had an iPad running iOS 14 so I set it up on that. It uses the home app and it's pretty cool. The software interface is intuitive and easy to use and the sensor itself is very elegantly designed. Both are easy to read and understand and best of all proved to be among the more accurate of all my devices! So great little gadget, great gift, highly recommended for a simple remotely accesible temp/hygrometer barometric trend indicator. Go ahead and see for yourself, get one!

Title: Nice, though a few issues
Review: I really want to like this station a ton... there are a few issues that i wish were smoother. The display is somewhat hard to read if you’re not straight on. I knew it wasn’t a bright LED screen, but it’s tough to read if you’re off angle or too far away. However, it’s real strength is the ability to get data in HomeKit and the Eve app. The logged data is really nice. The other quibble is Bluetooth strength. Until I get Thread hooked up, I was expecting connectivity to be ~OK from about 20 ft. Unfortunately, it’s not, though admittedly signal has to go through a 4 inch brick wall. I have to put my phone almost next to the device to get readings and data. I need Thread ASAP! I am putting one up in the attic, too, to keep tabs on stored items and high summer temps. Device is well made, attractively smallish, and hopefully durable!UPDATE after ~9 moths of use: Once I installed a HomePod mini, this little device has been flawless! Clearly, thread is a key to make this unit connect reliably, download logged data, and provide exactly what I've needed in my two installed locations. I was a bit worried about the one in the attic (temps up to ~135°F), but it has been rock solid. My recommendation is to make sure you have a thread border router (HP Mini or AppleTV) in your system, and then enjoy!

Title: Got it working with Home Assistant, original attery lasted 5 months
Review: [updated another 6 months later]Eve sent me a replacement unit which worked as expected….for 6 months. One day it just disappeared off my network (last reading showed 85% battery left. After some troubleshooting it turned out that I did have a bad battery so the battery level reporting on these things is not remotely accurate. I would just plan to replace the battery every 6 months when it just disappears and stops reporting data.Eve also promised a firmware update for Eve Weather to support Matter (one of the biggest reasons I chose this device over others) a year ago and has not yet delivered.Given the price of these things I expected a product with the basics like battery level reporting to work and software updates to be delivered in a timely manner. It’s cool that it supports Thread and is wireless, but there are some other solutions out there that can do what this does at half the price - they’re not as sleek and compact but they work.[updated 5 months later]A few weeks ago the device got kind of flaky and would drop off the network and reappear. Eventually it died. I contacted support wh suggested replacing the battery. I informed them that the battery level indicator had been showing 100% but support said try it anyway. I did and it started working again. Apparently the battery indicator is not working right now and is not to be believed. Eve Engineering is aware and working on a software fix. I was a bit disappointed that the battery lasted only 5 months. We’ll see how long it NEW battery lasts. The documentation says a battery should last 1 year. So..1 star off for non working battery indicator and possibly shorter battery life than advertised.Matter support is still planned for “later this year”[original review]Although not “officially” supported I was able to get this weather station working with Home Assistant. You do need a thread border router and HomeKit to get it primed but just for initial setup.1) First pair with HomeKit (this is required add the device to your thread network). Press button on back and put it on your Apple TV. Follow pairing directions.2) Once you can see it in HomeKit and the Eve app, delete it from HomeKit. Unless you reset it, it will remain on your Thread network even if deleted from Homekit.3) Press (do not hold) the button on the back and then look for the Weather Station in your devices in Home Assistant (it will appear as a Homekit device). I had to put it on top of my Apple TV too.4) Add it via Homekit Controller add-on to Home Assistant.Done.Things to keep in mind: As of right now the Eve app only works with Homekit so all the stuff you get in the app like hyperlocal forecasting and firmware updates will not work - it will have to be re-paired with Homekit for firmware updates.Eve Weather Station runs on Thread but DOES NOT support Matter yet. Eve promised it’s coming via firmware update but as of right now it uses Homekit over Thread so Home Assistant is able to use it via Homekit add-on NOT Matter. So yes it works, you do lose some cloud based functionality but if you want all local with no dependency on cloud and no data leakage then this will work.

Title: Accurate, not terribly useful Update: no longer connects, returning.
Review: Eve Weather. Nice quality build, solid and good looking. Seems to be very accurate. Does not support notifications, automations are limited to the Eve App. Integration into HomeKit is minimal, does not support widgets, provides data that is buried in the climate tab, so very difficult to quickly see the temp outside. It is easier to look out the window than it is to look in HomeKit. Eve app is a little better to see the data, but you still have to open the app. Update: after less than a week it stopped connecting to the network. Tried to reset, still will not connect. Unit functions, looks like the radio died. Returning.

Title: A perfect way to check the weather outside!
Review: I live in San Francisco, so our city has many microclimates, with the weather outside differing as much as 10 degrees from weather app forecasts (even the best apps for local weather, such as Dark Skies, fall short in this regard). With Eve Weather, I get an easily accessible, constantly updated report on outdoor temperature and humidity, which is a huge help when planning my day. In addition, my outdoor weather history visible through the Eve app helps me to look at local trends and try to predict how today's weather will work out.The Eve Weather device itself was simple to set up, and worked flawlessly using Thread to communicate with my existing HomePod Mini. Since purchase the battery has proven itself to have extremely long life, still appearing at 100% in the Eve app.Eve Weather is an absolutely invaluable gadget if you live in any area where your local weather isn't accurately explained by local weather apps.

Review: Because, you know, looking out the window to check the weather is so 20th century. Apple wants you to spend over a hundred bucks to tell you what your grandma could with a glance and a sniff. So let's get into it.First off, this thing looks slick. It's like if an iPhone and a thermostat had a baby. The display is clear, big numbers, even your half-blind uncle could read it without his glasses. And of course, it talks to Siri, because God forbid we lift a finger these days. "Hey Siri, what's the humidity?" Like Siri's gonna tell you anything you couldn't get by stepping outside for two seconds. Now, setup. If you're knee-deep in Apple gear, this is as easy as pie. If you're not? Good luck. You’ll be Googling like a madman trying to figure out why it’s not connecting. And speaking of connecting, it’s rock solid… until it’s not. Every now and then, it decides to take a nap and you’re left wondering if the apocalypse happened and took your WiFi with it.But hey, no cloud nonsense here. Your data stays yours. No creepy tech giants peeking at how humid your backyard is. Privacy is a win, I’ll give 'em that. Battery life? This thing keeps going like it’s auditioning for an Energizer commercial. You might forget it even needs batteries until one day it just dies, and you realize you haven’t bought AAs since the Bush administration. Now, if you’re not an Apple user, move along, nothing to see here. This thing snubs Android like it's a low-rent cousin. And the price? Let’s just say, you’re paying the Apple tax. But hey, for that price, it better do more than tell you it's raining – like maybe give you a foot massage while it’s at it.I gave this a 4 out of 5 because, while it's slick and does what it says, it’s an expensive way to avoid looking out the window. Plus, it only loves Apple.

Review: I finally found (not cheap) a device that would monitor barometric pressure. But when I updated the firmware to matter it lost all automation functionality, for barometric pressure. It worked once. And than everything was taken away.Do not update to matter.
