A narrative-driven book on the surprising history and current revival of spritz cocktails (a wine-based drink served as an aperitif), with 50 recipes, including both historical classics and modern updates.

From Milan to Los Angeles, Venice to New York, the spritz—Italy’s bitter and bubbly aperitivo cocktail—has become synonymous with a leisurely, convivial golden hour. But the spritz is more than just an early evening cocktail—it’s a style of drinking. In Spritz, Talia Baiocchi and Leslie Pariseau trace the drink’s origins to ancient Rome, uncover its unlikely history and culture, explore the evolution of aperitivo throughout Northern Italy, and document the spritz’s revival around the world. From regional classics to modern variations, Spritz includes dozens of recipes from some of America’s most lauded bartenders, a guide to building a spritz bar, and a collection of food recipes for classic Italian snacks to pair alongside.

Review: I highly recommend this book!! Great and creatively unique recipes for a lighter style of cocktail. Most enjoyable. The surmise hit - Mai Tai Spritz - as odd as this may seem - its a favorite.

Title: The most handsome little book with a charming collection of recipes and stories
Review: This is the cutest coffee table book. My signature drink at my wedding was an Aperol Spritz so when I saw this book at Antropologie, I knew I needed it for my new apartment. I checked Amazon and the price here was way better than Anthropologie's (no surprise there).Aesthetically, the book's quality is way better than I expected. The cover has a cool matte vintage-like texture, as do the pages, which are very thick and sturdy. The photos are absolutely gorgeous- they're art-print quality and I would pull them out and frame them if I didn't love the book itself so much. There is also a cool mix of mid century modern style illustrations in a warm, somewhat masculine palette of colors. The writing is simple and the stories interesting. The recipes are the perfect mix of classic, modern, and DIY. It may not be a book I turn to often for recipes except occasionally in advance of a dinner party, but it's one I'm so happy to have in my collection and love leafing through when I notice it on my side table.

Title: Fun book.
Review: Has a lot of history about Spritz and the Italian cocktail scene, as well as good recipes. It is a fun book and the printing is good quality. The typeface is very small, but overall this is a good purchase.

Title: This book is a must-have for any serious cocktail aficionado
Review: This is a superlative book replete with interesting informative on different types of alcoholic beverages, lovely pictures and innovative aperitif recipes. I can’t wait to try every recipe in the book, but I keep pouring the very first one I tried, the Punch House Spritz, which is perfect for summer in Texas. Unless you have a very comprehensive bar, you will have to do a little scouting to procure some of the lesser known liquors, but it will be worth the effort and expense. Some bottles are pricey, but most of the drinks require only a drib or drab of each ingredient. You will wow your guests-and please yourself-with these innovative and tasty libations. Many thanks to author and chef David Leibovitz for this excellent recommendation.

Title: Good book with a good feel for the cafe culture ...
Review: Good book with a good feel for the cafe culture we found recently travelling to Italy. Was lucky enough to get to an exhibition in Venice about aperitivos and the associated glassware. Tied in nicely with the book.

Title: Aperol for everyone!
Review: This is a great, compact, well-designed book. In addition to cocktails there are a bunch of recipes for Italian aperitivos (little bar snacks, similar to tapas). Just got this book the other day, but I've already gone to the liquor store so I can try some of the more interesting cocktail recipes. Also really like how the book describes the spritz/aperitif sub-cultures of northern Italy. If/when I make it back I'm definitely using this book as a guideLooking forward to warmer weather so I can throw a spritz-inspired party.

Title: We Love Every Single One!
Review: What a wonderful collection of apparativos! The book of the summer has lead me to a collect and try as many as is humanly possible. See what a delicious collection the authors have lead me to create! Almost all of the drinks are easily made (with a few hard-to-find ingredients notwithstanding), incredibly tasty, very low alcohol and fairly low calorie - they pack a refreshing punch at lunch and through the afternoon and evening. My favorite uses one of the oldest (possibly, the oldest) apparativo Salers - made with Gentian root, it is outstanding when pared with cucumber, salt, white vermouth, lime, and soda/seltzer. Only 3/4 oz of Salers and 3/4 oz of vermouth make for a delicious adult refresher on a hot day.

Review: I love spritzes and this book covers the history, interesting facts and includes recipes. The cover is a cute and fun vintage picture and I angled it on the bookcase so it could be seen. Love this and even got one for my sister as a gift. She loved it too! Very happy with this purchase.
