Title: English Humor At Its Best!
Review: Strictly by chance, I happened on Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men In A Boat. Having spent almost five years in England when I was a teenager, I love to read about the country and it's people. Three Men In A Boat is a very funny book. When I found Three Men on the Bummel, I was as delighted with it as I was with the "Boat" book. When I first went to England, at age sixteen, I wasn't aware of how subtle and out loud funny British humor can be. It took me a little while to "get" it, but when I did, I was hooked. Jerome's almost subliminal sarcasm is priceless. The same "three men" in the first book, are the same three who go on another holiday, and muddle through the same sort of adventures, all quite unplanned and unexpected. Picture Sherlock Holmes plopped into the 70's Height Ashbury scene. Both books are highly entertaining, and well worth the read.

Title: Funny
Review: Jerome at his best. The humor is more situational than one liners. This book reads more like a series of anecdotes, than a narrative with plot points, conflict and resolution. Jerome didn't need them and the book rolls along just fine without them. I could not care less about the tedious details of travel the exact measurement of thus and that landmark, or boring descriptions of landscape. I am sooo glad he left them out as it saves me the trouble of skipping over them. This is an outstanding book and a wonderful lunchtime companion.

Title: 3 Men on a Bummel
Review: Liked, but I thought 3 Men in a Boat was better. It was still amusing though, and had some god comic mpments.

Title: A Bikeride to laughter
Review: Folowing on from Three Men on a Boat, the three friends embark on an international bike tour. Every bit as funny as the original, this sequel had me in fits of laughter in a restaurant once and I was laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. There are a number of situation comedy moments that any comedy writer would wish they had crafted. Again it shows the human condition and the imperfections of men and women and the hilarity that can be extracted from human weakness without courseness or bad language and without demeaning other races or cultures. A great, great book. Read it or regret not doing so.

Title: Humor for all Times
Review: There is more to humor than just laughing and this book (Three Men on a Bummel) satisfies my appetite for humor that exposes our common human foibles. Like its predecessor, "Three Men in a Boat", I relaxed into the comfort of shared frailties, follies, and foolishness to laugh and merge with George, Harris, and Me. Not to forget Montmorency, the lucky dog who lived a dog's life with joy and love. I re-read this book at least once a year and the pleasure never dims. This is a book that causes in me gratitude for the enduring written word. We need more Jerome J. Jeromes!

Title: Cycling in the Black Forest
Review: Almost a very worthy sequel to its predecessor 'Three Men in a Boat'. In fact the humourous vignettes are as funny or funnier, however the thread that runs through "Three Men in a Boat", namely the Thames is absent. The Black Forest just doesn't cut it and therefore there is a definite lack of overall unity to the story. Still it is laugh-out-loud in parts and well worth a read.

Title: Hysterical!
Review: Jerome K. Jerome has done it again! Since I read Three Men in a Boat, I have become addicted to the witty nature & hilarious narrative of Jerome K. Jerome. Three Men on the Bummel is equally funny as it depicts the "three amigos" traveling through Germany with the hysterical commentary of Jerome. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good laugh.

Review: So much like The three men in a boat but a bit more mature yet still hilariously funny in places while the observations and sentiments are still pertinent at this time. Great read!

Review: The sequel to Jerome K Jerome's widely celebrated Three Men in a Boat, Three Men on the Bummel is a tale of the three characters on a race for a wager. Intensely comic, the novel ensures some serious laughter. While not as witty as the first book, this one is a riot as well.

Review: For some reason, this sequel to Three Men in a Boat has never been as popular as its illustrious predecessor. Yet it is almost as funny, with some extremely drole episodes that had me laughing out loud at the clash of the (English and German) cultures. For example, how you will get into trouble if you throw things out of the window of your boarding house at a noisy cat below. Yes, there are some observational scenes that are not intended to be funny, but this was also true of the historical digressions in Three Men in a Boat.Highly recommended.
