Doctor Strange! The Hulk! Namor, the Sub-Mariner! The Silver Surfer! An unsolvable murder. An aquatic doorway to nothingness. A wanderer at the end of time. And a cosmic train of planetary proportions. Four seemingly unrelated events that will require the powers and insights of the greatest non-team of all. Only they can connect the dots and challenge the strange power behind these disconnected happenings before all of reality pays the price! But Doctor Strange is…dead? Namor has declared war on the surface world! The Surfer once more serves Galactus! And the Hulk is…Immortal! Estranged and distressed, can these former allies come together in time to stave off a crisis of cosmic proportions? Don’t call them a team — call them the Defenders!

Title: Make Mine Marvel!
Review: Book arrived fast, and in great condition. Huge fan of Hulk and Namor. This book is the perfect starting point for all the new stories happenin in marvel at the moment. Books like the new Avengers by Aaron, Ewings Immortal hulk, and the Invaders are all made stronger by this volume of Defenders. Enjoy!!

Title: The Parts Greater than their Sum
Review: The Defenders have an interesting place in Marvel lore, being a team of major heroes who united shortly after the Avengers first did. Even then, they aren't that well known. I and other fans however do remember them and so Marvel decided to revive the series briefly in 2018. I will review each issue of the collection individually then average a total.Immortal Hulk: The Best Defense (2018) #1:Al Ewing has been doing incredible work with the Hulk the past couple of years and he continues that here. The story sets up an intriguing mystery to start this crossover miniseries. Simone De Meo's art isn't great, having a blury lined look.4/5Namor: The Best Defense (2018) #1:Before Chip Zdarsky started the Invaders (2019) series, he told the beginnings of his Namor story here. Though not very connected to this series, it does a good job expanding on Namor's new war hungry mindset. Carlos Magno is the artist on Invaders and before now I didn't realize how good his work is.5/5Doctor Strange: The Best Defense (2018) #1:Gerry Duggan gives us a very different Doctor Strange in the most interesting story in the collection. This issue best explores the mystery and ever present danger of the series. Greg Smallwood's art has the same flare from Jeff Lemire's Moon Knight series.4/5Silver Surfer: The Best Defense (2018) #1:Writer and artist Jason Latour does alright with the Surfer in this story but tends to focus on other characters. His story at least puts the final pieces of the story in place for the final team-up. His art is pretty decent, and a step above De Meo's.4/5Defenders: The Best Defense (2018) #1:Al Ewing comes back at the end and brings the whole story together. It is impressive how this issue connects the pieces of previous issues, but the story is only good. Joe Bennett's artwork is very strong but not quite suited to the Cosmic Marvel locations.4/5I liked this collection fine, but I felt that the individual issues were better alone. Most of the story parts took place separate with each character and it ends up as a less than spectacular team-up at the end. This isn't a fantastic Defenders story but it is a good Defenders characters story.4/5

Title: Interesting stories interlinked, cool art
Review: The Defenders debuted in 1971, and have been making the rounds since, albeit with varying lineups. This book has the original trio of Hulk, Doc Strange, and Sub-Mariner plus Silver Surfer. Fans will not be disappointed.
