Title: WOW_WEE, at last, I know where they found those amazing receipes.
Review: As a lad when I visited my grandmother, great-aunts, and mothers of my friends, I enjoyed the oh so tasty dishes they seemed to magically conjure. Now I know where those ideas came from.In day gone by, manufactures wanted the ladies of the house to purchase their latest product, As a enhancement by and try, a free recipe was often listed on the back of can, bottles, etc. Many of those Sunday dinner specials you may have enjoyed during a visit to someones table came directly from the back of the items found in the local mom and pop stores.(These days, larger markets carry on the tradition as well)Now, there is an amazing well thought out collection, a source for almost all of my favorite taste treats from the kitchens of those wonderful ladies who took great pride in serving only the best to their family, friends and the pastor. Give this one a try... You won't be disappointed. I have given sevearl copies to those who have been seeking the same childhood taste memories I cherished then and now.

Title: Yummy tried and true blasts from the past
Review: Gotta love this book.Food mfrs. spend millions in research kitchens and at bake-offs to come up with really good recipes. Unlike a lot of cook books which are compilations of steals from other cookbooks, untried recipes with penciled-in changes, and wild-hair 'it oughta work' but untested brainstorms, these are recipes that food makers bet the farm on to make buyers happy with their products. Some of these are as old as brand names, others current. There's a lot of history in these pages and even recipes from before cooking was possessed by PC-ness (remember the OLD Betty Crocker and Americana cook books that had recipes starting with 'take a large scoop of butter ...').Some of these you may remember from childhood, others you'll discover with delight. I won't say you can't go wrong, but there are a lot more home runs than strike-outs.Oh, yes. These recipes tend to be simple and quick; they call for everyday ingredients - no special imported Residue of Fois Gras or Monastic Rubbings of Truffle - they were written so the average homemaker could put good food on the table with minimal fuss and without a special trip to the store. One example: the recipe for Chicken Kiev is the quickest, easiest and tastiest I've ever found.'scuse me now - I'm off to make a Frito pie.Try the book ... you'll like it.

Review: Good read but numerous recipes seem to mirror others under a different name. I found a few jewels, made copies of them and donated the book to the library. This had a lot of recipes for pantry staples, so it's perfect for those who use a lot of packaged items in cooking.

Title: Interesting flash from the past.
Review: I’ve tried a couple of the recipes so far. I’m personally struck with how our food tastes and eating habits have changed over the years. But it’s fun to go down memory lane. And perhaps I’ll find a hidden treasure.

Title: If you're into great recipes, you're gonna love this book!
Review: I bought one of this author's books (there's a few different ones) back in the early eighties and made some stuffed peppers and a 7-layer salad that were dee-licious! My original book got misplaced recently and this version has my faves and more!

Title: Have loved it for decades - so bought one for my grand daughter.
Review: This dandy little book has ALL those well loved recipes in one place. Bought mine decades ago after many of my saved labels fell apart. Every recipe is a winner and accurate to the original label - box - or can that made these favorites famous. Simple great dishes that are perfect for a beginning cook or those of us looking for a favorite from our Mom's kitchen.

Review: I've had a smaller version of this book for over 30 years and it never fails to deliver amazing recipes. I bought two more copies to give to my two daughters, I know they're going to love having their own copies of some of our family favorite meals.
