Title: Great pan for frying
Review: Switched from my old non-stick to cast iron and love this pan. Just the right size. The silicone handle cover is nice to have and helps to handle the pan while using. It is heavy but not unreasonable and I donât have any trouble managing it. It is preseasoned but Instill had to learn to cook with it to keep food from sticking. Have to slowly heat and not above medium temp. Great price and should last forever

Title: Great skillet.
Review: This cast-iron skillet is fantastic! When you cook food in it, it gives it a wonderful flavor. Itâs actually quite easy to keep clean even if you burn things on it. I like having the handle thatâs covered with the silicone so that I donât burn myself. it is heavy, but it yields wonderful yummy results. I use it frequently at least several times a week. Would highly recommend this skillet.

Title: Great pan!
Review: I love this pan so much! I can't believe I spent so many years of my life without a cast iron pan. Fact is, I just never understood how easy these are to cook with and maintain. Yes, you have to season it. Yes, that takes a little getting used to at first. No, it's not hard and really doesn't take much time to maintain. It's much easier than I thought it would be, and I love the way my food comes out!Once properly seasoned, this pan is as non-stick as any other pan I've ever used. I did the initial seasoning in my gas grill. That way you don't fill your kitchen with smoke. You can certainly use a regular oven if you don't have a grill. Give it a good 2-3 seasonings before using it to cook. There are plenty of articles and videos online explaining how to season a cast iron pan.As for the cooking, if you haven't used cast iron, you don't know what you're missing. The heat distribution and retention are amazing. For best results, make sure to pre-heat to your desired temp for several minutes before adding oil or food. Cooking with oil also helps maintain the non-stick surface, so the surface improves the more you use the pan. I've used this for steaks, fried/scrambled eggs, bacon, arepas, and shepherd's pie. I find myself looking for more recipes I can use it for. I haven't tried using it on my gas grill yet, but I'm eager to try. This thing makes me want to cook more!I like the 12-in size, though many people may prefer the 10.25-in version. I can prepare a NY Strip and a Fillet in this pan at the same time, with room to spare for a butter baste. It's a bit large for a 3-egg scramble, but still works well. The one down-side is the weight. You're not likely to flip an omelet with this puppy, unless you have very strong wrists. Of course, that's not specific to this brand - it's a cast iron thing. Maybe the 10.25-in version would be easier to handle for some purposes. That said, this pan feels like it's going to last for generations to come.Oh, and if it seems like I'm being sponsored by Lodge, please know that I'm not. I'm just a regular guy sharing his thoughts about a product I truly enjoy using. Happy cooking!

Title: Super Value for a piece of American History and awesome cast iron flavor! Do not fear the cast iron-it's easier than you think
Review: Love my cast iron, gave this as a gift to a fellow foodie who wanted to get into cast iron cooking. Great price on an American made product - you know the metal is safe. As a Lodge and Wagner Ware owner I can say the only reason I give the Lodge 4 stars is that the interior is much rougher than my antique Wagner Ware. I would LOVE to see Lodge come out with a smoother product like my old school collection of Wagners that are smaller in size. However, I've had my Lodge 12" skillet for about 10 years and a dutch oven for about 15, it has seasoned beautifully and is much smoother than when it was new. I can say it is better quality and less warping than my Pampered Chef or capahlon non stick pans and a fraction of the price of those disappointments. What I wouldn't give for a non stick pan as nice as this just for eggs. Once mine was seasoned, I use it in place of those over priced beasts and have little issue with sticking. My advice to my newbie cast iron owner, these pans run hot - watch your temps until you get used to it, always hot water no soap wash, if gunky pour some coarse salt to scrub it or better yet use a plastic scraper you saved from the Pampered Chef pans you threw out long ago, put it in the oven with veg oil at 220 degrees regularly for 10 minutes to keep it non stick and seasoned, never ever let it sit and soak if your family who can't cook burns up something in it and does that to your pan when you are out of town - you will get rust and have to re-season (see internet for this crisis repair), just put water in it and boil it for about 5 minutes and that burn will be soft and able to scrape off..and don't strangle that person who did this to your beautifully seasoned cast iron. Finally and most importantly enjoy the awesome flavor that only cast iron can bring to the table.

Title: Cast iron: good for everything
Review: The heat distribution is amazing on this, I have began cooking everything on this pan, I originally bought it only for meat cooking, but it took everything so easily and is nonstick, I even cooked my morning eggs in this now, so versatile. It is a little heavy, but so are all cast iron pants. The size on this one fits perfectly on the large position of my stove top. I seasoned mine with avocado oil right now or coconut oil even though I have heard of using flaxseed oil so I might try that it holds up pretty well as far as appearances havenât had any rusting on it, but thatâs also about upkeep, ensuring that you re-season it as necessary. I use my a lot so.

Title: Love this skillet
Review: Great skillet . I probably use it about 4 times a week! You can brown your chicken and stick it in the oven all in the same pan and nothing sticks. Cleans up easily. Love it.

Review: Great piece of cookware. Ready to use straight out the box, I havenât got around to seasoning it myself yet and despite this itâs still got decent non stick. It is very heavy (as expected) but lifting from both sides of it makes it easy enough to lift. One thing is I wish there was a little silicone protector for the small side handle as well as the main handle but you can still just use an oven glove/ tea towel and itâs fine. Very well made, fun to cook with and allows for even cooking.

Review: Expensive, but a beautifully finished product. Shipping costs are exhorbitant. Heavier than expected, pre-seasoned, effort required to clean. Belied the negative reports by some users; glad to have received a good piece. Silicone handle is somewhat loose.

Review: New user to cast iron skillet and honestly it's been interesting thus far. It's true that you need to put effort in seasoning the skillet and even after each use it's good to one-season. But with all the helpful info on the web you'll get used to the process once you start. One thing I love about the skillet is the sear I get on meats and the fact that I can put it straight in the oven. Bought the 12" which looks and feels big BUT sufficient space to cook for the family.Lovin it so far: )

Review: I had my last Lodge skillet for over a decade before it was lost during a move. That was unfortunate - because after a decade of heavy use it was in just as good shape as the day I got it.I'm always amazed when I talk to other avid cooks that spend tons of money on fragile non-stick cookware for day-to-day use. Sure, there are some places where your teflon-style non-stick cookware is great - but given how easily food released from the properly seasoned cast-iron, I rarely use mine. For example, I have some really high-end stainless pans from All Clad. If I tried to cook an egg in one of these stainless steel pans, the only possibility would be scrambled, and even then a solid layer of egg would be stuck in the pan requiring hard scrubbing later on. With the cast-iron it's not a problem - I can cook eggs however I like them, and they slide out of the pan. Same goes for fish!As long as you properly clean and oil the pan after each use (which is easy given that almost everything washes off quickly), you'll be amazed at the even heat and non-stick properties. It's definitely my go-to day-to-day cookware, and it'll outlast me.
