Title: Beyond my ability to adequately put into words - the insights are marvelous, and keep emerging with each reading.
Review: This is a LONG, long work, and not one that should be "skimmed." It is, by far, the finest work on the life of the Savior, anywhere. Whether a Latter-day Saint or not, the insights about Jesus Christ are marvelous, and any Christian not of the LDS faith would still be greatly uplifted and educated by it, even disregarding the occasional specific references to Latter-day Saint doctrine. For the vast majority of the book, that is simply not an issue - it is biblically-based, with insights one will be hard pressed to find elsewhere. The research and understanding behind the book is almost unbelievable, thus the tremendous insights on the Savior, his circumstances, and the world in which He lived at the time. For a non-LDS Christian, it would be helpful to know before starting, just a little about LDS beliefs about Jesus Christ, so that the book will make even more sense. Latter-day Saints do not typically use the word "Trinity" to refer to the Godhead. The LDS belief is that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are separate and distinct beings, but entirely united in one single purpose, under the direction of the Father, who is known in the Old Testament Hebrew as Elohim. Jesus Christ, as recorded in the Bible, was the creator of this earth, under the direction of the Father, and was known in his pre-mortal state as Jehovah (the God most frequently referred to in the Old Testament, but still always under the direction of Elohim). Once he came to the earth, he became known as Jesus Christ, and he routinely deferred to his Father (Elohim) when talking about his own works - saying that although he did them, he also only did what he was commanded by the Father, and/or what would be acceptable to the Father. Once resurrected, he resumed his place at the right hand of the Father, having redeemed the world He had created. The Bible itself clearly distinguishes between the three separate (but one in purpose) beings, such as Steven looking up steadfastly into heaven and seeing Jesus Christ on the right hand of the Father; or when he prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane for the cup to be taken from him, but then deferred fully to the Father's will; or when he asked on the cross, "Why hast thou forsaken me?" He also promised to send "another Comforter" (the Holy Ghost) after He (Christ) was gone. And those are just some of the biblical examples that clearly distinguish between the three. Once that difference is understood between Latter-day Saints and SOME who adhere to other denominations of Christianity, this wonderful book makes even more sense. But even for one convinced of the three-in-one, one-in-three concept, the insights to be gained from "Jesus the Christ" are not to be found elsewhere, in their depth. It is a deeply moving spiritual experience. I also highly recommend obtaining it on DVD and listening to it, in addition to reading it. New and different insights emerge from the spoken word, compared to what is found in the printed word. James E. Talmage clearly had an understanding of the Savior that is rare to be found on this earth.

Title: Every member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should read this Book!!!
Review: This book was written in a room in the upper part of the Salt Lake Temple by Apostle James E Talmage under the guidance of the Holy Ghost as directed by our Savior and Redeemed Jesus Christ. It is the Word of God. It is scripture. One should read it under the direction and influence of the Holy Ghost.

Title: Faith Promoting
Review: I find the depth of this entire book inspiring. The research that went into preparation for this book is amazing. I have read the book several times and make it part of my permanent library. My own research prompts me to disagree only in the authors portrayal of JUDAS.The author condemns JUDAS for betrayal but overlooks PETER'S sin of denying the CHRIST. Let me refer to one scripture from the KJV BIBLE. N.T. book of Luke chapter 12: verses 8,9,10. To prove what many people overlook, look at St. John chapter 13: verse 27. JESUS commanded JUDAS go and betray Him. More references to prove that JUDAS has been forgiven, refering to his twelve disciples in Luke Chapter 22: verses 28,29,30.And Mathew chapter 19: verse 28. There are many more which I could quote, but these should get your interest.

Title: Great Kindle Adaptation of a Timeless LDS Classic
Review: I won't say much about the content of this book, you can read plenty about that elsewhere. Plus, if you are like me, you already know what you are getting in terms of the content of the book. What I want to review is how well this particular version is adapted to the Kindle.I previously paid for a version that claimed to have a linked table of contents. It did have a linked table of contents, but it only showed the chapter number, not the title making it nearly useless. This free version does a much better job. The table of contents appears exactly as it does in the printed version, with the chapter number and title (linked to the actual chapter) as well as a brief summary of the contents of that chapter (just as you find in the printed copy). The one draw back is you can't navigate directly to the TOC using the Kindle controls (for some reason it is not linked) so in order to get to the TOC you have to navigate to the cover and page forward a few pages till you get to the TOC. A Minor inconvenience. The inline references are also linked to the footnotes at the end of the chapter, and the footnotes at the end of the chapter are linked back to the inline references allowing you to quickly and easily flip back and forth between the chapter text and the referenced footnote. All in all, for a free book, you couldn't ask for more. An essential addition to any LDS Kindle library.

Title: Of all that has been written about Him
Review: This is the best or one of the best books written about the Christ that has ever been written outside of the Bible and the Book of Mormon. There are books that have sought to be objective or detached in their documentation of the history of this man but his influence on the history of man since his birth is absolutely unparalleled. Any history or writings that declare to make a historical declaration of a most influential person ignoring, avoiding or denying Jesus Christ of Nazareth as the most influential life ever lived offers a word of either profound ignorance or biblically prophetic antagonism. (Luke 19:14)This statement may appear grossly presumptuous to those who ultimately are the ones I have described above who would deny the honest reading of the most available historical scholarship since the Enlightenment but any honest student of history would have to admit with wonder at how amazing it is that those men whose culture was shaped and prospered under the name of the one called the Son of God have done so not only because of their amazing efforts but by a preponderance of incredible events that gave advantage to the people of Christ against the onslaughts that came against them from the followers of other men, names, ideas or quests.
