Review: Bought them to replace my 92 year old dad's antiqued and wore out knife set. Price was the driver, but the value was better

Title: Knife set was gorgeous
Review: We purchased this set for our college girl when she moved into her first apartment with her roommates. We pulled the set out of the box and unwrapped all of the knives and it was exactly what we were looking for and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the knives were. The grip was good. The knives were very sharp and the color matched their kitchen. The weight of the knives was not too much and one was easily able to cut easily. There was one item missing, it was the kitchen scissors/ shears and instead two knife sharpeners. One knife sharpener is definitely enough and the extra one doesn't fit into any slot. It was my fault for not reaching out to the vendor right away. I had purchased the set over the summer and it had been beyond the 30 days when I gave them to her. Other than that then I accept was very nice and functional.

Title: Great knives, but…
Review: These are great knives. But the rivets on the handles seem like they are backing out after about 4-6 weeks of use. These would be 5* knives if the handles weren’t loose this shortly after purchase. A few of them we have only used once…. But the handles are loose.

Title: Beautifully packaged and heavy duty feel
Review: This set of 14 kitchen knives and utensils came packaged very well. Each knife was in its own cardboard sheath and those with sharp tips had a hard plastic tip cover and each was then inserted into individual plastic bags. The thing I really appreciate is that each knife has its name/use printed on the blade. This is super helpful for those of us that think a knife is a knife is a knife. Hopefully this set, along with the information on the knife will change that way of thinking for me. I am surprised at how heavy this assembled set really is. I’ve had knife sets before but never one this nice and I’m looking forward to having the correct tool when cutting meat, vegetables or fruit. The one item I feel is missing is what I’ve always referred to as a paring knife. The closest thing here is a 5” Utility knife which seems just a tad long for what I would typically use to peel potatoes. Yes I’m a holdout from a vegetable peeler and am often asked how I don’t cut my hands when I peel and cut potatoes. I guess it’s all in the way you were taught by our mothers. Lol. I have started trying to integrate a vegetable peeler so this might be the nudge I need to switch as I plan on getting rid of all my old, dull, practically useless cutlery. I haven’t used this new set yet but as I was putting each piece in its designated slot in the block I would occasionally “nick” the block with tip of knife and it would really stick into the wood. I’d have to kindve pull on it to get it out so it appears the knives are meant to do their job well. I also looked at the blades and did the finger test where you kind’ve feel the blade to test for sharpness and they all feel sharp. There is a sharpening rod included as well so if I have any issues with dullness I have a way to remedy the problem. The set includes 6 4.5” steak knives, sharpening rod, kitchen shears, 8” bread knife, 8” chef knife, 7” Santoku knife, 5” utility knife and a 8” slicing knife. A few of these I’m going to have to research because I don’t know their use. I look forward to learning about these knives and I’m sure they are going to make cooking prep much easier. I highly recommend this set. UPDATE: So I used the utility knife to cut the skin off a sausage before grilling. Well, I managed to slice my little finger and poke my thumb with the very sharp tip. Very minor injuries but I can now attest first hand to their sharpness. Still highly recommend. I am really impressed with this set.

Title: Great basic set of knives
Review: The best set of knives are ones that have been frequently sharpened....or in this case new ones.As new, these are super sharp. I love that. The handles and angles seem to be European style vs Japanese. I love my German and Japanese steel but these (as new) are just as great. I will say the ergonomics are a little off but not bad. I think this is probably the main difference, how they are held. I have not had them long enough to see the durability of the steel but so far the edge has held up great. The other grip is that the steak knives are inserted at a weird angle, very upright against the backboard, so that makes these difficult to insert and pull out. If that makes any sense. Not that big a deal but something I notice every time I grab a steak knife.

Title: Yet another cheap knife set.
Review: This is yet another cheap knife set. $3.50 per piece on average. So you are not getting chef quality here. I've had this kind of thing for many many years and they are always pretending to be from Europe in the name. But are made in China or Pakistan etc.The steel is cheap stainless. Doesn't hold an edge. Very hard to sharpen. Steak knives are always serrated so they can at least cut through soft steak when new. They sit around dull and useless until they get tossed or given to the thrift store.I get given these every few years because we cook and they look nice. These are most suitable for newly weds or young people who don't cook much. Giftable for that purpose. Useless for a real cook except in an emergency.
