Similar to the Breville Smart Oven, but in a smaller, more compact design, this 1800-watt oven offers exceptional cooking convenience while taking up less space on the counter. The unit's 3/5-cubic-foot nonstick interior can accommodate a 12-inch pizza or four slices of bread at a time, while its push-button and turn-knob control panel makes it easy to program. Turn the control dial to select the function--options include Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, and Reheat. The oven's Element IQ "smart" sensor technology puts the power where it's needed most to ensure energy-efficient operation. For each of the eight pre-set functions, Element IQ automatically adjusts the power and calculates the cooking time. The time and temperature for the pre-set programs can also be manually adjusted to accommodate individual preferences--the oven will even remember the new settings for next time. Use the second control dial for setting the time (from one minute up to two hours) and for adjusting the temperature (from 120 to 450 degrees F), as well as for selecting the number of slices and for setting the toast shade, from light to dark. The control panel also offers a large start/cancel button, a defrost button for frozen foods, and a temperature-conversion button for recipes with cooking temperatures in Celsius. The oven's easy-to-read backlit LCD screen shows the current function, temperature, and adjustments made--plus it illuminates orange to indicate preheating and cooking, then blue to indicate the end of the cooking cycle. Other highlights include a tempered-glass door, three rack positions, and a front-access removable crumb tray for quick cleanup. Accessories include a 10-by-10-inch enamel baking pan and a 10-by-10-inch enamel broil rack. Title: Most Loved Kitchen Appliance
Review: This little powerhouse oven works so well for me. I prepare just about all my meals with it and avoid heating up the kitchen with my two large ovens. It toast, warms and bakes perfectly. It heats up quickly and cools quickly. I prefer to warm items in this oven instead of the microwave. It doesn’t take a lot longer but the food seems to retain the heat longer and to heat more evenly. I even use the top surface as a warming tray or to warm up plates and serving pieces. The oven rack level is marked for various task and the controls are simple and foolproof. It’s hard to make a mistake. I bought this one for my bachelor son because I use and love my own so much.

Title: My wife really likes this Breville Compact Smart Oven.
Review: UPDATE : Nearly two years old and used every single day and we are just as pleased as the day it first arrived. There are some reviews which claim it wouldn't last 6 months or a year, well the Breville unit we received is rapidly approaching its second birthday.Actually, with this unit, we use our regular oven less and less. I like the way this unit cooks but I really like the way it reheats food. Where a Microwave will warm food much faster, it also tends to make some meats "rubbery". Not the Breville toaster oven, it warms the food through uniformly and doesn't "change it" the microwaves can. This oven is also very good for crisping things like french fries, breads, etc. Whether its as simple as heating up my wife's daily raspberry Pop tarts or baking cookies or making bread, this oven has done it all. Very good for pizza's as well........We have cooked a wide range of items in this oven and it's used at least once everyday. Does my two years of use change my rating of this unit? No, I still rate it very highly and we are very happy with this toaster oven. We have even bought others this same toaster oven as a gift and they have indicated they are pleased with it.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ordered this as a surprise for my wife. Her last toaster oven recently went to the appliance yard in the sky and she had mentioned that she wanted another toaster oven, but not a cheapie that are sold at the local stores.After research, I found this Breville Compact Smart Oven and ordered it as a surprise for my wife. Imagine her surprise when it arrived, only to be immediately followed by disappointment that there was damage to the shipping box and it transferred to damage to the oven right in the center of the rear and top of the oven. I contacted Amazon immediately and they shipped a replacement which we had in just a few days. I returned the damaged oven the same day i received it. The return process couldn't have been easier.My wife is very pleased with this oven's consistency and it's ease of use. It's also a very good looking appliance. We were in Best Buy recently and they had the same oven at a price $90 higher than what I paid Amazon.Check out the plug on the cord, another indication that Breville is paying attention to how their product is actually used. Impressive.The oven is well made, is an attractive appliance and has the look, feel and function of a quality appliance. We have now used it for about a month and my wife uses it now instead of the big oven for many meals. This is one of those purchases which I looked forward to receiving and am now glad I spent the money. This is heads and shoulders above a Black and Decker or other similar low price point toaster oven. The size is also perfect to be left out on the counter in the corner where my wife wanted it kept.If I could, I would give this 6 stars. Well, in a way, I guess I can ******.....

Title: Breville BOV650XL powerful heating in a compact design.
Review: The Breville BOV650XL is a quality toaster oven at a decent price. Solid aluminum/glass construction with an attractive presentation while sitting on your countertop. The dimensions are spacious enough to heat a roast or medium size pizza while making easier to clean. The included broiling rack is firmer and sturdier than racks in other toaster ovens I looked at. The enamel baking pan has the same sturdy quality as the broiling rack and is also slightly deeper than other pans. The ability to remove the crumb tray without opening the glass door is a nice touch.While the BOV650XL doesn't have the heating and cooking efficiency benefits that a convection oven would. It does have something other toaster ovens don't, that's Element IQ. Element IQ gives this toaster oven the ability sense the heat distribution during cooking and 'target' the heat where it needs to be. This is great for something as simple as toasting a few slices of bread to broiling up tilapia or chicken breasts.Just a couple of minor esthetics that just take away from an otherwise great toaster oven. While there is a shutoff timer, there is no clock on the LED display. The knobs that adjust the cooking mode and darkness/temperature levels are made out of plastic. And probably the most important issue, there is no cooking light. You'll need to place the toaster oven in a decently lit area to see your food while it's cooking. Or you may need to open the door and pull out the tray to see the food which is annoying while you're cooking.The most critical piece of any toaster oven is how it performs while cooking. The BOV650XL does this extremely well with Element IQ. There's just a few small touches that really take away from an otherwise outstanding toaster oven. If you can get past those, you'll find a gem. The Breville BOV650XL is a great toaster oven. It's perfect for the budget conscious who don't want to pay for the more expensive convection ovens but want something better than your run of the mill toaster oven.

Title: Heats evenly and easy to use.
Review: I got this for caregivers, so I wanted it to be easy. They love it and last night I used it for the first time to make toast. The toast came out perfectly all around despite being hand cut in different thicknesses. They have been making pizza and cookies since the house stove oven is broken and rave about it. It won't fit a big pizza but we had a counter space issue so it was perfect and it's easy to cut the edges off a frozen pizza. Heck, the pizza won't fit in the side by side freezer anyway so it's cut back before it ever goes into the oven. But even thought it barely fits, it still cooks evenly. Great oven.

Title: A great high quality toaster oven!
Review: We had a cheap Hamilton Beach and after staying with a friend who had a Breville, we sprung for one. It's done great on everything we have used it for. Bagels, toast, reheat, bake & broil. Versatile, good control and well built. It works so well we have cut way down on our oven use. Highly recommended!

Review: My mom had this exact model of toaster and it finally gave up working after YEARS of daily toasting and weekly meal making in it. She's in her late 70's and finds learning new gadget operation cumbersome, so I didn't even hesitate to buy her a new one. Totally happy with the price and the delivery. It's a great little unit!

Review: This is our 2nd purchase of this model. The dimensions are perfect for a small home with limited counter top space. Our last one lasted about 8 years with very regular use including roasting small chickens. Ultimately, some of the settings stopped working but even then we used other ones to compensate. Gave 4 stars for ease to clean because stainless steel is never easy to clean really. Great product! Hope they don't discontinue this one. We own several Breville products and they all seem to be of this quality.

Review: Purchased this toaster when I moved to my first place. Fits perfectly when counterpace is a concern - otherwise I would have purchased the bigger brother. Have used it primary to bake/toast things, and it does the job well. I know that some reviewers (on amazon.com, for example) have actually tested temperature on these units and had some issues with consistent performance. While this may be true, I haven't noticed much difference between results when cooking the same foods. It gets the job done, it looks pretty nice, but when you get cheese or something on the elements, it can be tough to clean. Because of oil stains from the stove, I have to use a stainless steel cleaner to give it a nice smooth finish. The tray which slides out for easy cleaning is convenient, but has sharp edges.I haven't really experimented with every cooking setting, except for bake, broil and toast. I can say that those work well and if you've used breville in the past this is consistent with their other products. Overall, I'm happy. I just wish they'd sell their products for less in Canada!
