ONE OF TIME MAGAZINE'S 100 BEST MYSTERY AND THRILLER BOOKS OF ALL TIME • BOOKER PRIZE NOMINEE •“A taut and darkly funny contemporary noir that moves at lightning speed, it’s the wittiest and most fun murder party you’ve ever been invited to.” —MARIE CLAIRE

Korede’s sister Ayoola is many things: the favorite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola’s third boyfriend in a row is dead, stabbed through the heart with Ayoola’s knife.

Korede’s practicality is the sisters’ saving grace. She knows the best solutions for cleaning blood (bleach, bleach, and more bleach), the best way to move a body (wrap it in sheets like a mummy), and she keeps Ayoola from posting pictures to Instagram when she should be mourning her “missing” boyfriend. Not that she gets any credit.

Korede has long been in love with a kind, handsome doctor at the hospital where she works. She dreams of the day when he will realize that she’s exactly what he needs. But when he asks Korede for Ayoola’s phone number, she must reckon with what her sister has become and how far she’s willing to go to protect her.

Title: Crafty story - beautifully cultural, fun and bold
Review: (no spoilers) This is a delightful read! The characters are so deep, real - vibrant and enriching within this book's setting. Oh, though it's technically dark, there's humor and human thought dynamic all within it. I read this in a couple hours. The pace is interesting in that the author has small chapters with significant headings for the experience or the thing to focus on.Two very interesting things I noticed about this book. One - there are no sex scenes within it, but one character is full embodiment of sexiness. This is interesting because the world is literally saturated with books that contain a ton of spice, this does not go that route. Two - there's no foul language despite the intricacies of the story. These characters are really believably beautiful and I appreciated them even more for that. There's a nice and unexpected plot twist.I certainly would love to read more from this author.

Title: Darkly Comedic and Suspenseful
Review: "My Serial Killer" by Oyinkan Braithwaite is a darkly comedic and suspenseful exploration of family loyalty, morality, and the complexities of sisterhood. Korede, the practical and level-headed sister, finds herself in increasingly precarious situations as her younger sister, Ayoola, repeatedly slaughters her boyfriends, leaving Korede to manage the bloody aftermath. As she adeptly cleans up the crime scenes and hides the evidence, Korede grapples with the ethical dilemmas posed by Ayoola’s deadly charm and her own sense of duty to protect her sister, who is both alluring and dangerously sociopathic. The tension escalates when a kind-hearted doctor at the hospital where Korede works develops an interest in Ayoola, prompting Korede to confront her feelings of jealousy and the chilling reality of Ayoola’s actions. Braithwaite masterfully blends humor with a chilling premise, crafting a narrative that is engaging, darkly funny, and thought-provoking. As Korede navigates the complexities of love, desire, and sisterly bond, "My Sister the Serial Killer" challenges readers to reflect on the limits of loyalty and the lengths one might go to protect the ones they love—even when those loved ones are hiding deadly secrets. This compelling debut is a fresh take on the crime genre that will leave readers both entertained and unnerved.

Title: Interesting/part predictable
Review: This was a quick read. And it isn't hard to keep your attention. How it was written did take a little adjusting to but it didn't make it difficult to read or anything like that.If anything the style it is written with tiny chapters gives almost a Journaling like feel from the MC. Especially since the entire book is from her POV.The tiny chapters will be found convenient if you are multi taking while you read or if you get called away from reading it gives easy, quick stopping pointsThe story I found it interesting enough that it kept my attention and I soaked up the book fast. I did find that throughout it, it was predictable. The ending wasn't really how I expected it, but kt was generally a HEA. This story does deal with murder. Plenty of murder. However, take away, the bigger picture it is about friendship, and loyalty. My rating and why:Price point. I obviously paid for the book so I only hated it so much. However, it is the most I have ever paid for a digital copy of a book and is one of the smaller books I have read. So page per dollar cost I consider it high for what you are getting. Hindsight I likely would have gone paperback as it is cheaper.I purchased this to get the black history month book mark, and decided that I wanted to be something that intrigued me, so my read could be enjoyable. While yes it was short and predictable, I did enjoy it. Which if there was half stars I would give it a 3.5

Title: Perfect read for a book club
Review: Read for my around the world reading challenge. 📍 Lagos, Nigeria.I really liked how fast paced this book was and how the chapters were short. It made it easy for my ADHD brain to read.I IMMEDIATELY hated Ayoola. Selfish, vain, vapid, psychopath. She did not deserve her sisters help or love or loyalty AT ALL. It’s not like she cared about her sister any other time than when she was cleaning up her crimes and keeping her out of trouble.I totally did not anticipate that Muhtar would wake up, let alone wake up AND remember all the things Korede had told him. I thought it was a great twist. Not gonna lie, lightweight feel like Tade deserved to get stabbed for not listening to Korede and immediately falling for her silly beautiful sister when she clearly adored and looked after him.All in all, I enjoyed it and would read more from this author.

Review: Se você está procurando um suspense ou terror, esse livro talvez não seja pra você. Apesar do título e da leitura fácil (capítulos bem curtos, leitura bem objetiva e dinâmica), o enredo é bastante denso e o final é incrível.

Review: The story has an intriguing concept and reads very quickly. I don't know if it was intended by the author or not, but the characters were quite frustrating and their motivation seemed unclear half the time. I felt that the author could have created more depth for the characters and then the story would be more convincing. Nevertheless, the ending was quite surprising as a choice and the story overall makes one wonder to what lengths we could go to protect the family and if they are worth the sacrifice. The book was delivered in perfect condition.
