Title: The Very Best of Oscar Peterson
Review: The contents vary from moderate to difficult and this is not recommended for beginners. If you are really a good jazz pianist, I recommend Note for Note for Oscar Peterson, too.The print is very good and easily legible. If you can play Moanin', you should be able to do a decent job on most of the rest, especially Rockin' Chair. You can find all these pieces in mp3 format on Rhapsody.I cannot understand why the content is not made available in these ads. Title: Oscar is "The Man"
Review: Oscar is an inspiration and a fascination for jazz players and listners alike. These are superb transcriptions and offer a chance for the mere mortals among us to have a taste of what it's like to play like Oscar. If you have the patience, it will be well rewarded. The quality of the publication is excellent as well with large easy to read font. If you can read piano music, this will be among the best $20 you ever spent - incredible value - enjoy!

Title: Great transciptions
Review: Amazing, whoever did these transcriptions. They provide a great insight into O.P.'s playing and style. Some of the pieces are more interesting than others, in my opinion.

Title: Incredible
Review: I really wanted to learn a few Peterson licks on the piano that I can bust out once in awhile. This book contains accurate transcriptions of some of his hits and makes it easier for me to visualize what is going on. If you want to sit down and learn these songs note for note... good luck!

Title: Buy It If You Dare!
Review: It's worth it for the transcription of Stellar by Starlight alone! No wonder Duke Ellington once referred to Oscar Peterson as the "Maharajah of the keyboard!"

Review: Oscar's improvisation is great. If you have a decent training in classical piano, you can play this book by practicing it. Otherwise, getting right on the rhythm and feel is not easy.

Review: I'm very impressed with this collection of Peterson pieces. I've learned a great deal about his techniques, chord clusters, runs and rhythmic organisation. Don't be fooled, the majority of these require an excellent techniques and feel for the jazz world of Oscar Peterson. There are a couple of easier pieces but the majority contain extremely demanding runs and sequences.I can honestly say that working through the collection has improved my playing and jazz technique although I am basically a classical pianist. I still struggle with the size and stretch of some of the chords.Pieces I most enjoyed so far: Aint necessarily so, Moanin', Gravy waltz....and I've only touched the surface of this collection...lots of work ahead!

Review: These are accurate transcription. I got the transcriptions of "A Jazz Portrait of Frank Sinatra" too - which is a fabulous recording if you don't have it yet. A few of these in here are on youtube too which can help a bit with feel

Review: The transcriptions in this book seem perfectly true to how Oscar would have played them and some of the pieces in this book are my favourite to play. I must note, however, that it is not a book for beginners. As a Grade 8 Piano student, I found there were only five of the pieces I could actually complete as the rest were either too fast or too difficult to read. There are four of the five pieces I can play that I feel might be attempted by someone of Grade 5 standard however the rest would take a real viruoso to pull off, no surprise there it is Oscar after all!
