Title: Not my first foray into foam.....
Review: I know many of these reviews touch on many topics, not all of which I believe are relative to the actual product. So lets get these out of the way. Yes the mattress comes in a box. It's folded up, vacuum packed and wrapped in a band. The box a bit larger than a mini fridge. It weighs around 90 pounds. The foam does have a smell. Depending on how sensitive you are to it will depend on how you rate the product. It is just the smell of new foam. It will dissipate, how fast depends on room temp, ventilation and other environmental factors. So now that I have the simple, mostly unimportant things covered, I will give you some background. My ex-wife insisted on spending 2500$ on a Tempur-pedic mattress when we were together 3 years ago or so. I was NOT happy about the cost, especially when there were many lower priced products on the market similar to this mattress. So I slept on a Tempur brand for a year or so. It was built differently than this mattress. The top layer(s) were much softer and you really sunk in before you hit the "support" layer of foam. I found myself in a snuggled dip, making rolling over at night difficult and usually found that I was woken up by the struggle. The mattress was hot too. Let me tell you I was a sweat factory every night. It was nice in the winter time, however. But all in all I was comfortable and had little to no back or neck pain. This was the least I could expect, considering the fact that I spend a good sum of money on a premium mattress. One of the few things I will mention (probably just my own body issues) is that if I didn't pee before bed, you can bet your bottom dollar that I would wake up in the morning with a sore back and having to run to the bathroom. I just got used to going beforehand and never had any issues. Also something people don't touch on AT ALL is the subject of intimacy. We all pretty much participate in this activity on this particular household item exclusively, and no one really talks about the differences between springs vs. foam. On the Tempur mattress the fact that you sunk in quite a bit with no give made bedroom activities a constant game changer. If anyone had issues with joints, or needing to be at a certain level or position during this activity would have to pretty much find another surface to have these activities on.And with that background being covered I can move on. My new wife and I moved out to Maine from the Pacific Northwest, selling all our belongings and started fresh. We hit town and bought some furniture, and a mattress at the same time from the same dealer. It was a discount mattress and believe me after 2 months we knew we got what we paid for. Sagging center and broken springs. We spoke of our options and discussed foam. I had experience with it, however refused to pay 2,000$ for a mattress. We shopped around locally, even hitting the sleep number store in our local mall. Their memory foam was a bit firmer than what I had before, but the tilt/massage and air adjustability was very enticing, then I got the 5600$ price and walked out. We are both thrifty and big Amazon shoppers so we turned here. We shopped Sams Club and Costco also and decided on this mattress. Ordered it on Friday Oct 19th and it was at our door before noon the next day. Amazon will always have the best delivery and service. We unpacked the bed at noon and slept on it that night. The smell was already almost gone by our 9 o'clock bedtime. We settled right in on the firmest bed either of us has ever slept on. It was a terribly uncomfortable frist night. Our pillows were not supportive enough either. We woke up Sunday, assessed the situation and went right out to Sams Club and dropped 80$ on a soft 1.5" foam topper, installed it and have the mattress of our dreams. A nice shallow cushy layer that supports with the firmness we desire. We sleep cool, we are isolated from eachothers movements and let me tell you, the firmness and the fact that you don't "sink" into the mattress have opened our eyes to a whole new world in the romance department. Having a bed that does not move all over on bouncy springs really amplifies the energy you put into the pleasure.I will leave it at that. I will also be very critical of this purchase and will update this review as often as something comes to light worth mentioning. But for now, we got an amazing mattress. It may not be perfect out of the box, but with products available anywhere you can tailor this to your own sleep style with little investment. This is a great mattress with an AMAZING price. I love it more than the Tempur brand that was almost 5 times more expensive.Enjoy!!Update (3-4-13) We have been sleeping on this mattress for a tick over 4 months now. Every night my wife and I look forward to our sleep! We have "rotated" the mattress twice now (end to end, not flipping it over, as you can only sleep on the top surface) for no other reason than to just prevent us from possibly sinking the mattress (absolutely no sign of that). One evening I was washing the cover for our 2" mattress topper and we lost power in the middle of it. We decided to sleep on just the mattress and without the topper. Same as the first night we woke up stiff and achey. This mattress alone is still just too firm without the 2" soft layer that the extra topper provides. I would still recommend this mattress to anyone, since you can customize the sleep with a small investment in a topper.Update (3-8-14) It's been well over a year now, and this bed has become our favorite place in the house. About 5 months ago we decided to remove the foam topper and sleep directly on the bed, because I was, for some reason, tossing and turning which shifted the topper, causing me to have part of my body on the topper and then my shoulders would fall and contact the mattress. I can only think that after almost a year of sleeping on the mattress, it "softened" up enough to where we felt the bed was the same firmness without the topper. Picked up some 600 thread count luxury sheets and we could never imagine not sleeping on this bed. Still stand by my rating and recommend it.

Title: GREAT mattress for the money!
Review: We have been putting off purchasing a new mattress for several years now. Our backs, necks, and joints have suffered accordingly. During our search for a replacement to the coil spring torture chamber we have called a bed we must have laid on 200 different mattresses. After laying on a $6000+ tempurpedic we knew we wanted a memory foam or memory gel mattress and a traditional coil spring mattress was completely out of the question. We also knew we didn't want to make payments on a BED so we immediately started looking for cheaper alternatives. When I first saw the Sleep Innovations mattress on AMAZON I dismissed it as an option not believing it could come close to matching a Tempurpedic performance at the price. As the (mostly) positive reviews kept flowing in we decided to take the leap of faith and FINALLY replace the coil spring mattress. We placed the order on December 16th 2012. The bed arrived on December 18th. It was in an almost square box weighing a little over 100 pounds. I didn't have a hand truck so I carefully unboxed it in the garage and dragged it (in plastic bag) from the garage to the bedroom. Our bed is a modern Italian platform. The slats are about 3 to 4 inches wide. To avoid any issues we purchased two 84x34 plywood panels to place on the slats to give the mattress something nice and flat to lay on. When we cut the plastic based on the instructions the mattress quickly unfolded. It went completely to full shape in about an hour. When we first laid down on it, PURE HEAVEN. We DID notice that our feet were hanging off the bottom. Odd, as we figured king size was king size. Only then did we figure out the instructions were based on you opening the bed from one side or the other, not from the bottom. We carefully turned it and we fit just fine on it. To shorten the review I'd like to simply give our observations based on the CONS of the reviewers who, surprisingly, did not like the mattress.1. Comfort - This bed is FIRM. The harder you crash on it the firmer it feels. If you gently ease into it, you'll find it's very forgiving and cushy. Some reviewers mention it is like sleeping on a door, or a hardwood floor. That is just RIDICULOUS. I can imagine, if you keep your house under 60 degrees and sleep in coats it might feel firmer than it should but if you keep your house reasonably warm, and pull the covers up, the bed will adjust to your body. It feels almost identical to a foam based Tempurpedic. It CANNOT match the gel we tried, but that bed was many THOUSANDS of dollars. The first night we slept on this mattress was magic. I didn't want to get up. When you ARE ready to get up, getting out of this bed is MUCH easier than a coil spring mattress.2. Smell - The bed INDEED had a noticeable odor when first opened from the package. I would compare it to sleeping in a room that had been painted with latex paint the day before. It took about three days for me to not notice it and about a week for my wife to stop asking "When does the smell supposed to go away?". Once again, it is not a repulsive odor (unless you find a freshly painted room repulsive). After a week we smell nothing.3. Heat - I'm going to reserve judgement for the summer. I have been sleeping like a baby on this thing. I HAVE noticed I'm warmer under the covers now. I can't tell if it's the heat coming from the bed, or the wife has added a layer to our blankets since it has been so cold. For the people complaining about the heat, this bed should be a godsend in the winter. You can turn your thermostat down and save $$$. I will follow up in June or July to update on how comfortable the bed is, heat wise, but I can tell you in January it feels wonderful.4. Support - Just about any chiropractor will tell you firmer is better. Memory foam gives where you need it and supports were you don't. My neck and back feel wonderful. When I sleep on my side my shoulders still get the tingles occasionally from circulation issues but I can't imagine any bed performing better.5. Edges - A lot of 1 star reviewers complained that the edges were not soft or uneven etc. I'm not saying their liars but the bed I received has perfect edges. It is firm enough to sit at the end of the bed and put on my shoes, which is great.6. Sex - If you had great sex before this mattress you're probably going to have even better sex now. Some beds tend to "work against you" when you a get a rhythm going. Not this mattress. Your knees will sink in nicely, but firm enough to hold you up and get busy! I've only tried 10 or 12 positions so I can't vouch for all, but if you are a "stick with the standards" type you should be more than happy with the mattress in this regard.I have had this bed for less than a month and I LOVE IT! I will attempt to follow up every six months to update on how it is holding up. Long term quality could be an issue, and apparently has been with some. At this price I'm hoping to get five good years out of it. Hope this helps and that all of you get to enjoy the kind of sleep I'm getting 🙂

Review: The delivery was excellent. It arrived before the expected date. It was in excellent condition, there was no damage to the box or mattress. When we laid the mattress out, it didn't take long to form at all, at least 4 hours. Our back problems are no longer problems. We are a heavy set couple. I was afraid of it sinking in, which it hasn't! We are very happy with this purchase and I do recommend this for anyone with back problems.

Review: We ordered this to replace our terrible traditional (and very expensive) spring mattress that was only 3 years old and already worn out! It came in 48hrs and was ready to sleep on within a few hours of opening it. There was no overpowering smell like some other foam products, which was awesome since once you open it, you are committed! We've had it 3 weeks and have loved every night's sleep! It's a little more firm than I like but that was quickly remedied by adding our 1 inch foam topper to it that we had on our previous mattress. My husband loved it before and is still fine with the topper on it.Over all, great bed for a great price!

Review: Very comfortable mattress. However, some people will find that it's too firm for them. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to sleep on a firm mattress. The memory foam will perfectly adjust to the pressure points of your body. That being said, be warned that the matress is very heavy compared to non memory foam mattresses.

Review: This now the third memory foam mattress I have bought (a Tempurpedic double, a Novaform twin, and now this Sleep Innovations twin.) I have never had a problem with any foam odour or them unfolding into their expanded shape upon unpacking. All expanded right away and retained proper shape.) In this case, I was hoping to buy the same Novaform twin mattress again, to have the option of putting them together to make a King. Unfortunately, I was unable to find the exact same Novaform, but I found out that Sleep Innovations makes Novaform, so when I saw this twin on Amazon and read the description and price point, I guessed that this was as close as possible to the other mattress. In any case, it is very comfortable, with enough softness for a firm mattress that you get the underlying support and the surface comfort. It matches the Novaform very well and works as a King nicely, as we have slept on it this way to test it out. No hesitations in recommending this product.

Review: This is a great mattress. You can put a glass of wine on it and let your kids or your mother in law jump around on it. There is very little transfer of movement with this type of foam. Sleeping on it is hard to define - I don't seem to be able to stay awake enough to make a thorough analysis, plus when I wake up, my back does not hurt at all! No complaints. It comes well vacuum-packaged, rolled and sucked onto a cardboard mailing tube. Once you release the tape, it reverts to it's intended shape. No odor, just comfort! Get one!

Customers say

Customers like the comfort, value for money, and quality of the mattress. They mention it's very forgiving and cozy. Some say it's well worth the buy and shows no signs of deterioration. However, some disagree on the firmness, smell, heat level, and ease of assembly.
