A great choice for teaching your youngster how to ride a bike, the 16" Scorch sidewalk bike from Schwinn features a grown-up look that's great for showing off around the neighborhood. It's outfitted with an enclosed chain guard to help prevent snags and dirty pant cuffs. The rear coaster-style brake makes stopping a breeze for new cyclists, and the Scorch also includes a front caliper brake which allows the child to learn how to use a handbrake safely. We've included training wheels for stability while your little one learns the invaluable skill of bike riding, and a tool-free adjustable seat post that lets your child grow with the bike. And we're only just getting to the best part. The Scorch features all new Schwinn Smart Start geometry, which means that the bike has been carefully designed to match a kid's body type to create a more comfortable, ideal riding position. This includes a lighter bike frame for added control, smaller grip handles to match smaller hands, a more narrow pedal position to match narrow kid hips and much more! Other kids bikes are just shrunken down version of adult bikes, so typically the grips are too large, the pedals are to wide and the seats are too large. Combine the great riding experience with the Schwinn limited lifetime warranty (for as long as you own the bike), and the Scorch is a parent and child favorite. You probably learned how to ride on a Schwinn all those years ago. Now it's time your child does too.
The Schwinn Scorch boy's bike with 16-inch wheels is designed for children 3 to 5 years old, or 38 to 48 inches tall. The Scorch is perfect for riding to the park or riding on the sidewalk around the neightborhood.
With Schwinn's SmartStart Technology, this bike is designed just for kids: lighter frame, cranks and pedals are positioned forward, gearing designed for easier starting, narrower pedal positions, and smaller grips and seat.
Designed with younger riders in mind, this bike includes a rear coaster brake (reverse the pedals to stop) and a front caliper brake (hand-brake like adult bikes); easing the transition to a hand-brake-only bike when they’re ready.
The adjustable saddle, seat post, and slack seat-tube angle make for easy, tool-free adjustments to allow the Schwinn Scorch boy's bike to grow with your child and prepare them for a full-sized bicycle.
The Schwinn Scorch boy's bike with 16-inch wheels comes ready to be assembled and includes training wheels and a racing-style number plate.

Title: Great bike for a 4 year old
Review: We originally bought a balance bike but wanted our grandson to learn to peddle. This is a great bike. Won’t fall over. Seat adjusts to different heights. It also looks nice!

Title: Great for 4 year old
Review: Way better quality than the huffy version we bought previously. Tires are thick. Hand and foot break options. 10/10 recommend.

Title: Great starter bike
Review: Easy to assemble, no missing parts. Fits just right for child with 18.5” inseam, 43” tall. If your child can get both feet mostly flat on the ground at the seat’s lowest setting then don’t bother with training wheels. Start in a flat open area like a outdoor basketball court. Stand behind and push with hands under their armpits. Let go while following behind, ready to pick them up by their underarms incase they fall. They will learn to balance quickly. Training wheels will impede learning to balance.Good bike for beginners, just a few things we didn’t like. Bike is on the heavy side. The front caliper brake is not powerful enough. Coaster brakes makes it hard to get into optimal starting position. Child sits too upright in this bike’s geometry. We prefer more aggressive stance. And the handlebars can be too high even at lowest setting, making things more wobbly. Other than that, not a bad beginners bike for the price before considering more expensive ones with better weight, feature and geometry.

Title: Not the Schwinn bikes I grew up with
Review: Right out of the box the break cable was already frayed and jammed up after squeezing the lever 2-3 times. Had to go buy a new cable even before my grandson sat on the seat. Foot peddles don't spin well, rear tire hits the chain guard and required some muscle to bend the guard out of the way. Hopefully it doesn't fall apart within the first year.
