Title: Unbelievable!
Review: This book is the Fatal Attraction of winning the lottery. The movie, Fatal Attraction, makes one think twice about the ulimate consequences of having an affair. This book does the same about winning the lottery . . . perhaps winning is not all itâs cracked up to be. Great story! Love how well itâs written. I highly recommend.

Title: unusual storyline
Review: I like different sores, and I wasnât sure where this one was going. It was thought provoking in that it made me wonder who really plays the lottery and if the winners do anything worthwhile with the proceeds.

Title: Chilling and twisted
Review: Winning the lottery is something most people dream about, but what happens when your dream turns into your worst nightmare? Best-selling author Adele Parks explores this in her chilling and twisted new thriller, Just My Luck. For the last fifteen years, Lexi and Jake have laughed, cried, celebrated and commiserated with two other couples. Having known each for so long and having shared the highs and lows of married life together, the ties that bind this tight-knit group together are rock solid. The six of them are always there for one another. Always willing to lend a helping hand, an understanding ear or a shoulder to cry on whether itâs one of the kids behaving badly, a crisis at work or a disagreement with one of their spouses, there is nothing this group wouldnât do for one another. For almost two decades, theyâve played the same six lottery numbers and every time they fail to win anything. They always laugh it off and shrug off their disappointment and continue with their lives. After all, what are the chances of actually winning the lottery?Life for this group follows a very predictable trajectory â until the unthinkable happens. There is a rift in the group that severs forever the bonds that have bound the six of them together so tightly for the last fifteen years. A devastating lie has put paid to both a reconciliation and to any hope that things could ever go back the way they were. As each couple vows to give the others a very wide berth, something unexpected and shocking happens: their lottery numbers come up.Lexi and Jake might have the lottery ticket, but their former friends also want their share of the money. Those numbers werenât just Lexi and Jakeâs, but they belonged to each and every single one of them. If Lexi and Jake donât want to listen to reason, then they have two choices: either they stop being so stubborn and give them their share of the winnings or else they pay the consequences. As the chasm between the three couple widens and widens, one thing is certain: each and every one of them is willing to do whatever it takes for the winning ticket. Even murderâ¦Adele Parks is so good at getting under her charactersâ skins and in Just My Luck, she brilliantly examines the fragilities and frustrations of friendships and the devastating effects of lies, deception and unexpected wealth on even the strongest of relationships. Just My Luck is deftly plotted and chillingly written and Adele Parks exquisitely ratchets up the tension and despair in a nerve-twisting page-turner that kept me reading way past my bedtime. An engrossing thriller from a talented writer, Adele Parksâ Just My Luck will make readers think twice about buying that lottery ticket this week.I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Title: A Must Read
Review: Another cliff hanger from a spectacular author!!!

Title: gripping story, predictable at times but then throwing in some curve-balls that had me rethinking.
Review: Just My Luck, Adele ParksReview from Jeannie Zelos book reviewsGenre: Mystery and thrillers, women's fiction.Sigh...women's fiction. C'mon, its 2020 not 1920.Anyway, what a read this was, full of the very worst in people. Until the win the six have been friends for 15 years, though there are cracks at times, and Lexi has discovered something about one of them that she finds difficult to deal with. I would too. The characters are very real, warts and all, but TBH I only liked Lexi and Toma, the rest were selfish, vain, money obsessed. Toma had gone from being a hardworking family man to the depths of depression after his loss, and Lexi helps him crawl out, start living again. I rally liked him.Jake her husband was not the man she saw, not the guy she fell in love with. I guess we all change along the way but while Lexi is all about helping others â hence her work in citizens advice â Jake is just money and self orientated. The friends have fallen out, and then soon after their long held winning numbers come up. Jake and Lexi insist they'd dropped out, they insist it was just a tiff and they were still in. Who's right? Who knows.Complicating matters are their kids. Jake and Lexis daughter Emily is best friends with the Heathcote's daughter, Megan, and the Pearson's son Ridley is her boyfriend. We see much of the events after the win through Emily's eyes, and she is a typical teen, spend, spend on big brands. Their son Logan is a bit younger, happy that he can have some new games.Jake also can't wait to get his hands on the cash and start spending. His greed shows right from the start when they ring in and one of his first questions is how soon can they get the cash. He seems to mostly want others to see how rich he is, to show off his new Lamborghini, throw a huge party, buy expensive new clothes, he's all about flashing the cash.We see quickly how the money brings problems, not just with their friends but themselves, it affects Lexi's job as the CA office is inundated with people wanting help â or help in the form of money. Emily gets problems at school as Logan and Megan turn against her. The trio have been friends since childhood, don't have other friends and it hits her hard.Things get worse, trust is shattered and events quickly go downhill, showing how different Lexi and Jake have become. For me Jake was an awful man, I guess he must have been different when they met, Lexi is such a lovely person its hard to see what they have in common. Then the action ramps up, and the twist at the end has me rethinking things once more. I guess no-one is quite who we think they are.Stars: Four, a gripping story, a bit predictable at times but then throwing in some curve-balls that had me rethinking.Arc via Netgalley and publishers

Title: Disappointing
Review: Great premise, but ultimately disappointing.I skipped over the TMI about the mums' nipples, sexual problems, etc. after giving birth to their respective children. Pages and pages of details that had nothing to do with the plot. I was, however, somewhat engaged when the author described interactions among the couples - narrative that seemed to be leading somewhere. Sadly, the ending was unconvincing and annoying.

Review: Imagine winning a lottery and being really rich. For the couple Lexi and Jake when the win 16million British pounds, their problems just begin. I liked the diversity of the characters. I also liked the twists and turns throughout it. And there were lots of surprises especially toward the climax.

Review: I thought this sounded like a good idea for a story. In truth it is not bad and have quite a good twist or two in it. I started reading it and thought it was worth 5 stars, it then went on so much, very repetitive yet quite impressive how Adele Parks managed to say the same thing over and over again - the book could have been at least 100 pages shorter - that I found myself in 3 star territory. But as the ending was quite good I decided, and as it is Xmas, to give it 4 stars. However, there are two aspects of the book I really didn't like:1) The narrative from Emily, the daughter's point of view. She is incredibly literate for a 15/16 year old! She simply would not have written like that at all2) The irony that Emily is literate yet Adele Parks is not- Adele Parks read English at university so why is her grammar so bad? The book is littered with incorrect uses of "sat" and "stood" e.g. "Jake was stood in the kitchen", "Emily was sat glued to her phone" - FFS it is "standing" and "sitting" - replace the verb with "to sleep" and you wouldn't say "Jake was slept in the kitchen" would you? Can't believe an English graduate and an editorial team are so poor at grammar.Rant over!It is worth a read though!
