Title: Practical information to plan your trip
Review: I really like the way this book is organized. It lets me plan a trip based on pre-planned itineraries, or by specific interest (ancient history, natural wonders, etc.). And, the book is filled with beautiful, color pictures. This really helps me imagine myself there, and makes planning/dreaming about going to China so much more real. This book also has a lot of practical information in it: in each city it tells you how to take public transportation to major attractions, as well as different food options. The sections on essential culture and phrases are also extremely practical. Overall, itâs a great planning book if you are interested in visiting China, or just dreaming about it.

Title: I wonder about all the other reviews - very disappointing guide book
Review: I was taken in by the 5 star reviews and ordered the book. Turns out it is a very simple book that lacks depth and broadness. I got it right before I went to China and was very disappointed in the coverage (amount and quality) it offered. I wish I had taken a DK or Fodors or really any of the major ones since this really had very little useful information overall. If you look more closely at when most of the really positive reviews were written, they were all in October - one kind of wonders if the authors asked their friends to write reviews? Anyway, I hate to be so negative, but wanted to warn any other would-be buyers to keep looking.

Title: the best food choices and some transit options for travelers
Review: This book covers the basics and more for anyone visiting, or just interested in China. There are photos, a travel itinerary, the best food choices and some transit options for travelers. My favorite parts of the book were the cheat sheets on Chinese language and pronunciation, I also liked the pictures in the book. I found this manual to be written in an engaging manner, it's decent airplane material. This review is written based on my unbiased opinion.

Title: What a waste of $$
Review: What a waste of $$. There was no useful info in this book. The back says it provides hotel and restaurant recommendations - nary a one in the book. I could have gotten what little info the book has simply by googling "travel itineraries for China". Luckily, Amazon has a very generous return policy, and refunded my money and isn't going to make me go through the hassle of packing up the book and shipping it back. If there were a 'zero stars' choice, this book would get it!!!!

Title: close to 200 pages of information and beautiful pictures! We are never going to have enough ...
Review: Wow, close to 200 pages of information and beautiful pictures! We are never going to have enough time to see everything covered in this book, but then I guess China isn't a country you can see in a few days. For the trip I'm planning, my first in China, I'm definitely excited to go to the alternative Great Wall sightseeing location and snap some amazing pictures without the usual tourist crowds. Thank you for the tip, Wanderlust!

Title: This gives you a complete rundown of what sites are available and where to find certain types of food as well as the best places
Review: Prior to reading this, I honestly did not realize as to how much China had to offer for people living there or for the tourist who is there just to visit. This gives you a complete rundown of what sites are available and where to find certain types of food as well as the best places for it. As most of us tourist know, it is hard to plan without knowing what is all available for us. With this, it gives you a breakdown of where to see what and when. Plans everything out for you so you are not traveling from one place clear across to another only to go right back to where you were prior for the next.I received this product for free in exchange for my review.

Review: This book is published by Wanderlust POCKET Guides so it is reasonable to assume it will fit easily into your pocket. Wrong. The book is 9 inches x 6 inches (23 cm x 15 cm). The layout of the book is very basic. The only two maps in the book are maps of the whole country - not much use if you want to find a street in a city. Worst of all there is no index. The content seems interesting enough but I cannot comment on its accuracy until after my trip to China.
